  1. My doctor did not want me to start soft foods until week 3 and said not to eat yogurt, pudding or Jello due to swelling in the stomach. I really do enjoy the nectar Protein Drinks, they are very similar to Kool-Aid; apple, strawberry and cherry are my favorite so far. I know that you can get samples for $2 each and there are like 12 different flavors to choose from. I am 4 weeks post op and just now trying to eat solids. I tried a small piece of bread, which was a big mistake. Pasta did not settle too well either. I spent the weekend vomiting foods that did not agree with me. I will say that string cheese is awesome and I also do the sugar free carnation instant Breakfast with 1% milk. Good luck!

  2. Holy Cow! I am almost 2 weeks out and I have the same problem with pain. I found that wearing something supportive helps as well as using a heating pad. When I get up and walk around, I sometimes hold a pillow tightly against that area to keep from having aching pains. If I am on my feet too long, I start swelling in that area and sometimes have spasms. I can't wait for this pain to end!

  3. Howdy from Texas! I had my sleeve done April 6th and have started exploring new ideas for Protein. I purchased the recommended kit from Bariatric Advantage, which included two tubs of the nectar protein; Crystal Rain (reminds me of circus peanuts) and caribbean cooler (does not taste as good as it sounds). I plan on trying the Fuzzy Navel after hearing good reviews about the taste. Here is a list of things that I have tried...

    • Premier Protein in chocolate, strawberries and cream, and vanilla. I typically like chocolate, but in this case the strawberries and cream was my favorite.
    • Adkins in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, strawberry, and caramel latte. I did not particularly like these drinks, but if I had to choose one it would be dark chocolate.
    • EAS Protein Drinks in strawberry and chocolate. This drink was very similar to the Premier Protein and the strawberry was the better choice.

Please feel free to share your protein experience!

  4. I'm an April 6 sleeve too! The hardest part so far is having to cook for my 7 kids. I needed a night off from cooking, so we ordered pizza tonight. The aroma smelled so good that I had to make the kids take the food outside. Is that terrible? Also, I have this horrible pain in my lower left part of abdomen when I stand or walk too much; sometimes feels like a baby moving around in my belly. That was definitely weird for me. The only thing that relieves this pain is to sit for a while. Wearing supportive high rise pants helps too. Another thing is that I have a hard time sleeping more than one to two hours at a time. This has been so exciting and scary at the same time; I have lost 30 pounds already.

  5. I had my surgery April 6th. I have been super careful not to sip more than 1-2 ounces of liquid at a time because I feel pain in my stomach immediately after drinking, especially if I forget to sip. It's weird because I can feel and sometimes hear the liquids moving down. I have found that gas x dissolvable strips help a little. The biggest thing is to sip sip sip. I get hiccups and start burping if I take in too much at once. Good luck!

  6. FYI...in my search for the Syntax Fuzzy Navels...I found this website and bought the sample pack: www.mybariatricpantry.com There are a whole bunch of different high Protein items there, with some in "sample" sizes so you don't break the bank trying to find what you like. I'm also trying the unjury chicken broth...when it gets here and I try it...I will come back here and report :D

For those who like Peanut Butter...mix 8 oz. skim milk with vanilla or chocolate Protein powder, spoon full of powdered Peanut Butter mixed. I also like to freeze sliced bananas and freeze coffee to blend into my shakes for variation. For the extra hint of chocolate add unsweetened Hershey's cocoa powder and sweetener if needed.
