Slow weight loss and bump under port incision
shay5413 replied to shay5413's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Tazwella, I was banded for almost 14 yrs and went straight to sleeve surgery. I have heard from my dr, nutritionist, as well as other patients that our bodies will not lose weight as fast as someone who have had only one surgery. I assume it is because our metabolism has already slowed down from our first surgery, because we were already putting less calories into it. Hope that helps -
shay5413 started following 3 wks post op - very low energy, 8 weeks since surgery and I think I am flunking this test!, Slow weight loss and bump under port incision and and 1 other

Hi everyone. I am 4 wks out today and have lost the same lb for the past 2.5 wks. I too feel like a failure. Fit bit says I burn almost 2000 calories a day and eat only 800-1000, yet the scale doesn't move. I wanted to check in with the people who posted months ago to see if they were able to turn things around and if so, how? -

Today is my one month surgeriversary. I have hit a stall for the past 3 wks. I dropped weight on pre op and then about 9 lbs wk after surgery. Every since I added purees, I have been stuck. I log everything and get 800-1000 calories a day, good protein, and according to my fitbit, burn about 1800 calories a day. However, the scale has not moved in 3 wks. I gain and lose the same lbs. I started the treadmill last night and even have seen my personal trainer twice. Very frustrating.... -

Slow weight loss and bump under port incision
shay5413 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seasoned sleevers, what was your weight loss like? I have read several posts where people have talked about slow weight loss after revision. I know our metabolisms are slower already since we had the band, but I haven't really lost any weight in the last week or so, just 3 was post op. Just curious as to others experiences.... Also, I noticed a bump under one portion of my incision where they removed my port. Last week, the entire incision was a little hard, now it is just at one end. Did anyone experience this? How long until it went away? -
The hospital called mine outpatient and then explained that meant less than 24 hrs. I was kept overnight and stayed about 30 hrs. I enjoyed the IV pain meds and someone being there when I was trying to walk the halls.

Did anyone with band to sleeve revision have really low energy? I am on puree phase and getting at least 50g of protein, sometimes more and taking my multivitamin and B12, but feel very lethargic. I can't really exercise too much, because I just don't have the energy. Wanted to know if this was normal and when it ends.

Hey buddies, hope u are all doing well. Today was day one of purees. Anyone have any good recipes to share? I had mashed potatoes and then some tuna for lunch. I have been dragging a$$ without protein (clearly not getting enough). I just pureed a small sliver of quiche tonight and it is actually pretty good. My weight loss is slow since last week when I added more soups, just 2.4 since last week, but 26 lbs from start of pre op diet. I know I need to practice patience. I miss food, but was prepared to feel this way so I am not blind sided by it. How is everyone else doing? -

Hi Shay, Be sure to share with us how your first day back at work went. I am afraid to return so soon, I still get very tired real easily and I'm still taking my pain meds, although I've tapered them down quite a bit. I wish I could poop, no luck in that dept. I just don't have the urge to go. I'm having a hard time with the protein too! 2 days down at work. Today I felt way better. Yesterday was okay, but hard to sit still for more than 10-15 min. My side starts to hurt. My stomach itches a lot. How is everyone else doing? -

I am scheduled for 6/30. How was your insurance approval process? I've already had band out and awaiting vsg.Bndtoslv:You asked about the approval process. It was a lot easier this time. I have United Health Care. When I had the initial band surgery my insurance denied it and I had to pay out of pocket. It looks like the insurance companies are open to this type of surgery. The insurance representative said that they were doing a lot of band to sleeve conversions. I do still have to pay a really hefty deductible but at least it is not full price. Nancy As for my insurance approval, I pulled their policy from the website and then proved based on that why I should be approved. Got approved for band to sleeve in one procedure. My dr didn't even think I would get approved because I wasn't heavy enough, but per Aetna policy, I qualified! -

Hey buddies! I am 6 days post op. 2nd day without pain medicine. However I have a pulling feeling on my right side where everything was removed. I find I can't sit still too long or even stand too long without getting uncomfortable. I didn't find that the pain meds helped that much with that feeling. I am probably getting about 50 oz of fluids a day, but not nearly enough protein. I am doing Ensure and protein shakes but they go RIGHT through me. Super nervous to go to work tomorrow from an energy standpoint. Down about 20 lbs from start of pre op diet. How r the rest of the buddies doing? -

Welcome BndtoSlv and NancyBax. How are the others that had surgery this week doing? I had surgery Tues, home Wed. Someone stayed with me Wed and Thurs. 2 nights so far by myself. Lots of pain on my right side. In worried Dr might have gotten a suture too tight, because it is much deeper than incision. Getting liquids in is hard and Ensure goes RIGHT through me. -

For those of u that have been revised, how r u feeling? I came home yesterday and feel like this was much harder than band. However, that was 14 yrs ago, so might be that I just don't remember, I have all kinds of stomach pain, pain medicine makes me have hot flashes. I know this will get better, but right now I feel pretty crummy. How about u guys? -
