    6 month stall / plateau

So I was sleeved on January 6th, I'm approaching my 6 month surgeriversary in three days. My starting weight the day of surgery was 303 pounds, so i've lost about 94 pounds. Since about 6/25 I've been stalled, fluctuating between 208 & 210. I've heard of a dreaded 6 month stall and I'm not quite sure what I can do to kick my weight loss back into high gear. On any given day I can eat between 500-1000 calories. It honestly depends on how much restriction I have on the particular day. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am also fairly active and workout for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours a few times per week if my schedule permits. I also stick to eating a keto-based diet and try tostay away from carbs as much as possible and I try to get at minimum 60grams of protein in per day.
  2. Looking for anyone else being sleeved in January 2017. I will be sleeved on January 6th. Anyone else?
  3. So recovery has been tough to say the least. Surgery was January 6th. Still struggling to get in 64oz of Water in a day ... 2 Protein shakes ... and take my Vitamins. My stomach has been very sensitive, as I get nauseous very easily. My doctor progressed my diet to purees, and sometimes after a bite of food. I'm extremely nauseous. I'm wondering if this is normal, and how people went around it. I've tried the Isopure Zero carb drinks and absolutely hate them after surgery. Prior to surgery I enjoyed them. I find many things are either too sour or too sweet for me now. Same thing with my vitamins, I was initially prior to surgery taking Optisource and one night after surgery I went to take it and had to resist the sensation of vomiting. My doctor told me to only start my vitamins when the nausea ends. But I ordered some Bariatric fusion in a different flavor hoping that helps. ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I really need to up my water and protein.

    Tempting

I've actually found that working and being on the liquid diet has made it easier for me. It's easier for me to stay on track and days when I don't work I struggle to drink 3 shakes a day and eat a meal. When I'm at work I'm on a schedule.
  6. So I've heard before to bring like the dis-solvable gas x strips to help pass the gas test, Anything else I should be bringing? I'm hoping to be discharged the day after surgery, since I'll have to stay overnight at least the first day.

when did you start the pre op diet? How much have you lost? I have all these burning questions. Today has been kinda tough but that's to be expected on my first day. I'm hoping I could go into surgery weighing at least 290. When I weighed myself on Wednesday I was 303.

    January 2017 Sleevers!

you're scheduled 3 days before me, I too am going to hate going through the holidays I start my liquid diet Friday and we Celebrate on Saturday (the 24th) . I also made a note that I will not be going out on NYE as I cannot take part in the shenanigans so my sister just decided to host all of our friends at her house this year. It'll all be worth it though when I can actually walk without feeling pain in my joints and can wear heels again and just be all around healthier than I currently am.

    Insure Nutrition

I think I vaguely remember reading somewhere on here that they actually bill the insurance company for the vitamins and scar cream & that the shakes are the perk. Which is probably why they continue to send them to you. In order to get the shakes, they have to have a legitimate prescription and shakes can't be the prescription. So it's like a catch 22. I much rather get the shakes as a pro and not use the cream or vitamins.
  16. They're legit! Just got my called that my insurance approved everything yesterday. shakes, scar treatment and Vitamins. They faxed over the prescription to my doctor and he just needs to sign off on it & my shakes should be sent out in either 2 weeks or I'll have them in two weeks. Not entirely sure. Will keep posted when I actually receive the products and what's in it.

  18. thank you for this! having surgery soon and after my 8 week diet post-op wasn't really sure what I should be aiming for !
  19. I'm pretty much in the same boat with my family. I got into a huge fight with one of my sisters this past weekend because I finally got scheduled to have surgery. Many of my friends close to me also said they think it's because to this particular sister who's always been the skinniest, that she might see me losing weight as a threat, because she'll no longer be the "skinny- pretty" sister. She basically told me she "doesn't trust my doctor" because I'm choosing to have surgery with the surgeon I picked almost 2 years ago in Rhode Island versus a doctor in Boston since I've moved out here. (Mind you my father practices medicine with my surgeon and works at the same hospital) My mother also has expressed her discontent with me getting surgery and has opted not to support me. My father initially didn't support me but since has changed his mind. He recognizes that at this point with the extra weight I am no longer living my life but basically just going through the motions day in and day out. I had to actually say to my sister who tried to root her argument in "you haven't lost any weight since you started and won't take criticism. you need to go to the gym now" I turned and said to her "because you've been obese your entire life & struggle with the constant back, ankle and shin pain" I've decided I'm just living for me and doing what I need to do to be healthier. No one will have my best interest at heart like I do. They do not walk in my shoes, they know of my struggles, but have not experienced them. If you feel this surgery is the right thing for you, I wouldn't let anyone get in the way of that.

    Piercings....

I've had my belly button pierced for about 5-6 years. I know I'm going to have to take it out, I'm just hoping it doesn't close. The longest I've ever taken it out is probably for about a day max. I'm hoping I can keep my nose ring in, as it's a pain to take out & it'll probably will have it done for a year in January. The same month I'm getting surgery done.

What was your pre op diet?

Starting my pre-op diet on December 23rd. Mine consists of 3 Protein shakes and one small meal a day. My doctor suggested something like healthy choice or lean cuisine. I'm not sure if i can have sugar free popsicles, and Jello beforehand but I know I'm allowed to have them as part of my initial recovery diet. I'm also supposed to be taking my Multivitamins. Doctor's office suggests Optisource. I'm going to take the full Bariatric fusion as it contains more nutrients.
  23. finally got my surgery date! 1/6/17!!!
