Thanks...this is a class I have always wanted to do. My gym does not offer it but I am going to switch gyms in the next month or so and they do offer it. Shannon

Good for you. I have stopped for right now. My knees are giving me fits. I am not sure if its because of the cold weather or not. I am going to wait for it to warm up and see how they do. Shannon

Do you tell your kids about having LBS?
findingme replied to Blund's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bonnieiep....in no way was I calling you a liar for not telling people about your surgery. She asked who has done what and I told her what I chose to do. I struggled with if I would or would not tell people. I felt I would benefit more people by telling them that I did have it. I apologize if you thought I had an attitude. It was not meant to come across that way. As for the prewarning about people with thin children. I thought they might be interested in my story as far as being a thin child and young adult. I have read to often of people on these boards who have struggled all of there lives with weight. Shannon -
Do you tell your kids about having LBS?
findingme replied to Blund's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both my children know that I had surgery and what it is for. As a matter of fact anyone (for the most part) who knows me knows I had weight loss surgery. I want people to have the option to talk to me if they that they may want this surgery. I dont feel it was an easy way out but if people ask ....what did you do to lose weight I tell them. Also, prewarning for all those who think there children will grow up thin because they have thin children....I was one of those thin childen. Bony, thin as a rail.....size zero in college. Well I had surgery at 328 pounds. I had established bad eating habits as an adult. My children are proud of me for my weight loss and they see the struggles that I do through....a food item stuck, not able to eat certain foods, how hard it can be to work out....they will in know way think this is easy and let me gain weight because I can have surgery. I believe in honesty. Shannon -
I got my first work out and its for a home workout. I was more looking for the gym machines. It looks really good and from what everyone says it will kick your butt. She does a circuit training and which is strength training and cardio all in one. Then you have one day of cardio and two days of rest. I am not sure ....I love doing the machines at the gym. Trying to talk dh into a bowflex so that I can use it and walk for cardio. Shannon
-
When I went back to the gym I just started with walking. I waited about 6 weeks before I hired my trainer (who is now leaving the gym). I had to wait 6 weeks before doing any ab work. I think the cardio is a great place to start. Shannon

go to jillianmichaels.com and it should be there. I am not really interested in the diet but the workouts. My trainer is quiting and tomorrow is my last day with here. I really need the guidance in the workout dept...mostly weight training so I wanted to know if it would help. I will let you know. I am going to join for the 5 weeks and see how what its about. LOL....I have yet to do any this week. Monday my son was sick and today was black ice on the roads. Hoping maybe to go tonight. Shannon
-
I have bad knees to but they dont always bother me. Although I missed the gym today because of it. I have always heard not to walk on an incline if you have bad knees. I started the couch to 5k and am wondering if that is why mine are hurting so bad. I am sorry that I have no answers for you. Walking has never bothered mine. Shannon

Great Job! I went and bought a cheap Ipod so I could put the program on it. I hope I can figure out how to do it. I am lame on the computer. I am going to give my son my mp3 player since he works out with me. I think he will enjoy it. Shannon I will post how tomorrow goes in the morning.

I was wondering how you did. I did my day 3 today and it was good. Hard but good. I am scheduled for a fill on the 4th and hopefully it is all there. I have a leak somewhere and they filled me with a thicker solution last time so hopefully that has helped. Hopefully with stepping up my exercise it will help with inches and weight loss. Let me know how you did. Shannon
-
I did the program yesterday and it about killled me....lol. I actually dread but enjoy it. Tomorrow will be my third day. How did you do yesterday? I am at a standstill with my weight loss so I am hoping this will help. Although I have had issues with my band the last two months. Shannon

What is c25k? My trainer thinks its great to do cardio on the days off of weight training. She would love for me to come in 5 days for cardio but right now I will do 3. I have to go at 4:45 am daily to do what I am doing now. I dont want to go any earlier. My 12 yr old son goes with me and going earlier is not an option for him ....he still needs sleep. Shannon

That sounds good! I actually messed up the numbers and did the opposite....ran for 90 and walked for 30. So, I am going to skip to week 2. I know most people would say not to but if I have to stay in week 2 for two weeks I am fine with that. I am going to do this Mon, wed and Fri. I have a trainer on tue and thur for machines. Shannon

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
findingme replied to coltonwade's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Okay I just started this program today on the treadmill. I have a question. For those of you who downloaded the program on your Ipod ...does it go to music? I concentrate way to much on the time. When I do a normal walk I cover the time because it seems to drag on and on and on. I need my music. I felt it would of flown by this morning if I didnt have to stare at the clock. Any suggestions? I dont have a Ipod but am willing to buy one if the program has music to...... Shannon -
I just started this today....just came home from the gym. I am also doing it on the treadmill. I walked at about 2.5-3 and ran around 4. I loved it. Shannon

Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?
findingme replied to DrewsLou's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really dont know the answer you are looking for. I know in my situation they say they are sure the leak is in my port or tubing (probably the port). I would say over time the entire thing would leak out...that is what happened to me. I was filled the first time to 3.2 cc and he got nothing out the next time I went....which was 3 months. He then filled me to 2.2cc and I came back two weeks later and had nothing to pull out. I never felt a good restriction with that fill and know it was gone within a few days. This time I am filled with omnipaque (a thicker soulution) which some people say help when you have a leak. I am still feeling some restriction and can feel liquid pause when going down. It has only been 3 days. If I dont feel a restrction in a week or two I will be headed back to Mexcio to have the port replaced. Shannon -
I went for a fill today and they couldnt pull out any of the Fluid. He had a hard time getting the needle in my port (which is kind of normal but more difficult today). I really felt no restirciton when I went in today and have been able to eat whatever I wanted the last few weeks. My last fill was in Sept. They ended up saying I could have a small leak but there not sure. I had my surgery in Mexico and am waiting for a call back from that Dr. I was sick from about 14 days after my sept fill to two weeks ago. I wasnt eating a lot because of that so I have no idea if the restriction was gone before two weeks ago. Has this happened to anyone else? The only think making me doubt the leak is that my friend goes to this same Dr and the first time she went (after three fills from other Dr's) he coulnt get out any liquid either. She has gone back twice and there has always been a fill. Not sure what to think.....looking for any advice. Shannon

I am freaking out!! I need advice......
findingme replied to findingme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah I have always done mine under floro. Know the fills dont hurt. They give you a numbing shot and you cant fill a thing. If its done under floro it is normally not a problem at all. Shannon -

okay here is my update. I already lost this post once so I hope I am not posting the same thing twice. I went to the Dr to see if I retained any of my fill. This was done under floro and they couldnt pull anything out. I was not suprised since I felt no restriction. They then put in a dye with the saline and watched it go into the port/tube/band and couldnt find a leak. They decided at that point to use the omnipaque with some dye and have me wait for a while to see if they could pull all of that out. I waited two hours and go back under the floro. They can't find any puddling of blue (from the dye) outside of the port/tube/band but they did pull out all of the omnipaque which means that it was holding. Two Dr's were in there the entire time and the both firmly believe I have a small leak that they just cant see. We are now hoping that the onmipaque will hold so I dont have to have the port replaced. He filled me to a 2.6 and this morning I can still fill a restriction. Not as great as I have been (my largest was a 3.2cc fill) but I was not hungry this monrning and am having to make myself eat. Thanks for the prayers and I will keep you posted. The Dr said I should know in a week or two if the fill doesnt hold. If it doesnt then I will head back to my surgeon in Mexico (he was on oprah on Mon) and have it replaced. Shannon -

Mine are always done under flouro. My friend had the same problem...she had 3 fills and went for the fourth and he couldnt get any fluid out and she has always retained hers since. I am hoping for that. I have a call in to ask about the omnipaque to see if they can use that. We will see. I will post tomorrow or wed morning and let you know what happens tomorrow. Shannon -
Update on my fill: I talked to both my surgeon(from mexico) and the Dr who did my fill. I am going to back to my states Dr next Tue to see if I have retained any fluid. If I have he will do another fill (to make me tighter) although he thinks I have a good chance of having a leak. If I do have a leak I have talked to my surgeon and I will fly to Mexico for a port evaluation and for him to replace it if he needs to. I cant find any Dr to fill me with the stuff (thicker solution) that was suggested. I am just praying I have retained my fluid. Shannon

Wow I have never heard of it exploding. I am going a week from today back to see if I have retained any of my fill. I am not feeling restricted at all but I didn't feel a restriction when I left there. He is going to do this visit for free since I am a self pay. If I have retained the fill he will fill me tighter and everything will be good. If I havent I am headed to Mexico (back to my surgeon) and he will do a port evaluation and replace it if it needs to be done. Either way I should know something by next week. senecamoon: My Dr said you can still miss under flor and he isnt sure what happened. He says he thinks it is possible that I do have a leak. All of my apts have been under flor. I am praying that my Fluid is still there. What did your Dr say? When do you go back in?
