I packed loads and barely touched any of it! My saviours were my comfy dressing gown and slippers. I changed into leggings and a baggy t shirt once I had my IV out. I also watched a few movies I had already loaded onto my iPad..it was quite nice to have a distraction. I brought my book with me but I didn't feel up to concentrating enough to read! Hope that helps! Good luck with your surgery! ????

Hi! I had my surgery with Ahmed Ahmed as well! He was brilliant! I have had no complications so far! I have started back to normal foods over the last week and all has been fine! How are you getting on? -
I was allowed to go in the pool/spa at two weeks and bath at one week so you should be fine going in the sea! I was still on puree at week 3 but that is manageable just eat lots of soup/yoghurt/mozzarella cheese etc. your issue will be getting enough water in if it's hot but it's totally manageable!

Lower-end BMI Sleeve Surgery. Any others?
nc512 replied to Kevineastwest's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a bmi of 35 on the day of surgery which was a month ago. I have lost 25lbs so far including pre op and 18lbs since surgery. I am now in the three week stall which is soooo frustrating! I am hoping things will start moving this week! I also didn't feel any restriction when I was on the liquid phase...I have just started softs and I can definitely feel it now! Well done everyone on all the lbs lost!! X -
I just came back from dinner with my parents. I ordered seabass and ate about half of one fillet. It was really delicious! Didn't touch the potatoes, bread or salad bar...wasn't even tempted! I have been struggling since being on softs and that was the first meal I really enjoyed! Everyone else at my table was complaining how they didn't want their fries/bread but couldn't stop eating them! I love that I have my new tool! I honestly wasn't even tempted as I knew it wasn't worth how full I would feel! ???? feeling happy!!

I had my first soft meal today - poached salmon and avocado. Felt fine after but all afternoon my stomach has gone back to being swollen like after the surgery and I am getting a sharp pain in my chest when breathing in. Does anyone know what this could be? Have I done some damage or will it go away? Feelings bit worried!
-
I'm not allergic to avocado as I have been eating it while on puree phase and it's been fine. I'm wondering if I ate too fast or didn't chew enough and it's irritated my stomach. Hoping it will have gone down by the morning. Not going to eat tonight and just have water. It just feels really swollen and puffed out!
-
I Am on the puree phase and I can't seem to get my calories above 400-500. Is this ok? I am eating soups and yoghurt but the amount I eat is so small that I can't make calories at each meal. I am getting all my water and protein in though. How many calories were you eating at this stage?
-
I am getting 2 litres of water a day and 60g protein which was my goal from my nut. I am doing 2 protein shakes or one made with a double scoop. I have some soup for lunch and some soup, egg or hummos and avocado for dinner. I don't like the idea of puréed meats! The thing is I also really don't feel like eating or feel hungry. It's such a change from before the surgery! Thank you for all your reassuring messages! X

Thank you! I was worried I would be messing with my metabolism only eating 400 cals! Good to hear that you can get it up later on!

I am 2 weeks into my puree phase (my surgeon wants me to do it for a month) and I have been ordering soups when we go out with friends. Today our friends want to go to a Thai place for lunch. What can I order? Scrambled egg, porridge and weetabix go down absolutely fine for me. I worried that the Thai soups will have big chunks in! Do you think I can order a fish dish and chew it really well or is this risky? Some advice would be great!

When can I have wine? Lol
nc512 replied to FlabbyNat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said it was fine to have a drink after one week but to aware of the empty calories and also it hitting you harder. I occasionally have a small glass of rosé diluted with water and ice and it has gone down fine with no bad side effects. Your right it is nice to feel normal when out socialising! -
Puree tomorrow! Daily menu ideas please ????
nc512 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm starting puree tomorrow! Really looking forward to eating actual food but a bit scared it's going to hurt to eat! Any suggestions on what to try? What does your daily menu look like for the puree phases? -

Thanks for the tips! I'm only one week post op...been on liquid for a week and my surgeon suggests puree for a month then soft for a month. Feeling pretty good but got a pain around my belly button scar. I did have a hernia repair there so might be that. -
I had my sleeve yesterday and ended up having 2 hernias removed (didn't know I had them!) Have been retching/vomiting all last night and all today. So much nausea! Please tell me it gets better!
-
We obviously got different instructions. I am allowed only clear liquids, including broth and Jello, for the first week. I can't try thicker stuff till next week. How you feeling this morning? I had a good sleep and the only pain I feel is like I have done a big ab workout. Definitely feel like I'm on the mend! It's funny how different surgeons have different instructions! My surgeon just said see what you can handle...he said juices, broth or creamed soup, yoghurt drinks and custards for 1 - 10 days. I'm not sure what happens after that as I'm meeting the nutritionist today and she will explain.
-
I hope everyone is feeling ok! I am home now and feeling a bit better. Still have that trapped gas feeling in by chest and back but sounds like that will pass. I just tried custard for dinner and it went down fine but was so so sweet it left a horrid taste in my mouth! Going to try yoghurt drink in the Morning. I'm managing about 50ml each meal! Can't really feel if I'm full as all I can feel is gas so don't want to push it.
-
Thanks for the advice everyone! I can't believe how much better I feel at 2 days post op. Managing clear broth and camomile tea in little sips. Feeling very bubbly though (sorry tmi) my throat is constantly making gurgling noise. Is this the gas still?
-
Thank you! Actually already starting to feel a bit better. Managing water in sips! Going to try soup later...not sure how that is going to go down!

I am going for my surgery tomorrow!! So nervous! Just been to the supermarket to buy a few things for when I get home. What did you drink (I know it's liquids only) for the first week? I got some miso Soups, coconut Water, yoghurt drink and soups to strain. I read somewhere that if you add Protein power to coconut water it's a good way to stay hydrated and get your protein in? Anyone recommend anything else? Also Vitamins I bought Biotin, Calcium and a Multivitamin. Would love to hear any tips! ????

Hiya I have just joined! I have my surgery on Friday! I am feeling nervous but also excited! It's so great to read about everyone's amazing weight loss journeys on here! I can't wait to start mine... My surgeon does not do a liquid pre op just a low carb pre op so I am already enjoying eating healthy Protein based foods And have lost a few pounds. I have just got back from holiday and am so glad that it may be my last beach holiday where I am too embarrassed to go in the sea! I am 28 years old and 5'7. I have 80lbs to loose to be in the healthy weight range. Please let me know any last min tips!

Thank you! I have to be there at 11 and I am staying in for 2 nights. Feeling nervous but excited to get started! Everyone seems to be so positive about their experiences on here! Do you have to do a liquid pre op?
