Chewing and TMJD! Clicking Jaw...

Thank you soo much @@CherieRyde! So good to know there are ppl out there who know what im facing! Happy 1 year anniversary! ???????? -
HI All! I've been searching for a related topic but couldnt find anything, so i will write my experience down here hoping anyone with same symptoms can come forward and give me advice I am now 4 months post op and doing well, with 3 fills till now i've been having a wierd clicking sound in my jaw everytime i open my mouth a bit wide, and it is very uncomfortable hearing the sound, it started to be very loud and i thought it was coming from too much chewing, as you know you have to chew the food really well to go down properly with no stuck episodes.. the jaw stiffness has been very severe lately with a clicking jaw every time i open my mouth a bit wide, so i searched online, was fearing it might be TMJD (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction), so i went to a maxillofacial doctor, and he checked my jaws and the clicking sound, he said as long as there is no pain in certain areas where he pressed, then it should be fine.. he just said not to open my mouth too wide (for example, i need to cut an apple into pieces to eat it and not open my mouth wide and bite) and to never eat chewing gum, as too much chewing can trigger the clicking!! and that i dont need any meds at the time being.. He also mentioned that this also happens to people who grind their teeth at night, or during stressful days at work.. i've been monitoring myself and yes i do clench my teeth when im stressed, i probably do it at night, and i just cant control it. I also feel that with too much chewing its not getting any better... Has anyone experienced this? Clicking jaws? or diagnosed with TMJ or has any problem with their jaw post op? Just wondering..

Thanks Cloud 9! I couldnt have but soup when breaking my fast then after a few hours I was able to eat a very small portion! I know what i mean about the lap band, i have some fertility issues and want to have a baby so lap band was my ideal option for weight loss.. My sis had the sleeve but she struggled so much during her pregnancy so didnt want to go thru the same tho i know everyone's different.. Anyway im happy with what i have now looking forward to more weight loss good luck in ramadan and thanks for the update! Keep it up! x

Ramadan Mubarak! I was checking for any topics about ramadan.. Today is my first day fasting.. I had the lap band done two months ago.. I asked my doc and he gave me the okay.. He said i should start by drinking water or soup or juice.. Then wait a bit and then eat but take it slowly.. I live in Dubai so its very hot out here! But thank god for AC .. I'll see how it goes going forward through Ramadan and hope i make it safely without any breakdowns.. Its good to know there are ppl out there who have the same questions and concerns! Good luck xx keep us posted

Hey guys, Im 3 weeks post op! Just started my purée phase, and since then every night i have a sore throat i basically feel it within an hour after dinner.. Its so painful, i don't have any cold or tonsillitis or anything.. I think its food related, I've read it can be linked to acid reflux.. Im on Nexium since the surgery as i had severe reflux.. My band hasn't been filled yet! Im due for my first fill next week.. Do you have any advice to soothe this pain in my throat.. Is there anything i can drink that will make it feel better? Anyone experienced the same? Im still new and looking forward to my new journey

I think I know what you mean.. You feel its moving but it's actually just the pressure of the band pushing inwards when you lean forward maybe.. The feeling is normal.. But technically It shouldn't move..

Hello, I have had the Gastric band fitted on the15th April so it's been 5 days now. I have a follow up appointment with my doc in 3 days. Im now on the two week liquid diet, im suffering from reflux everyday its horrible. Is this normal? My doc has prescribed Nexium to take everyday since the operation.. At times i think what have i done to myself, when i get so exhausted from reflux and vomiting the acid in my stomach.. Im terribly tired and just cant see the light at the end of my tunnel.. Has anyone experienced reflux and vomiting right after surgery? Will it ever get better by time? Im only dreading the day i go back to work next week and start getting those reflux bouts and vomiting at work.. What an embarrassment! Plz help! I need some comfort and motivation from real life stories! Amy

Thanks a lot everyone for your support and feedback.. So it turned out that it's as @@lisacaron had mentioned.. Im a bit swollen from inside and i guess the reflux and vomiting was my body's reaction to the subject on my stomach.. The reflux is getting better day by day, i never had reflux before the surgery.. I dont have my band filled yet!! Dont know how it will feel after my first fill! Which is due in 3 weeks from now after im done with liquids and purée phase.. I still have a long way to go, but im always telling myself i couldn't have done it without the band.. I remember all the different diets that I failed at and yoyo ing all the time, hope this time I keep all the weight off for good! Thanks again guys! Its good to know there are other ppl out there who know what im going through..
