  1. I am having the same problem. I was sleeved April 9th. Sometimes I am not full but I can't finish eating because I feel like a burp is stuck in my throat and I have really bad pain in my chest. When I do burp, acid comes up in my throat. I'm concerned that I'm not getting enough food in because I can't finish eating due to being so uncomfortable. I hope this passes. Maybe some veteran sleevers can give us some advice. I feel your pain @@NZ_gal! This has been my only real issue since surgery.
  2. I was sleeved on April 9th and since day one, whether it's liquid, soft food or tuna, no matter what I eat I burp horribly and most of them get hung in my throat. It's very uncomfortable. Also, my throat makes these weird noises and it's embarrassing. Is this something that will get better with time? These hung burps can be painful also.
  3. HI, I just had surgery (gastric sleeve) 2 days ago. Everyone I talked to before hand said they did so good and felt good enough to go to work the third or fourth day. Let's just say I'm very disappointed. The only real pain I've had is from the trapped gas but I have had some nausea and I'm really afraid I won't be able to get all the fluids in. I tried a little chicken broth today and it did not settle well. If I even think of food, chicken broth or anything it turns my stomach. Please tell me this will soon pass! I'm really wondering what I have done to myself.

    Burping

It makes me so uncomfortable I don't even want to eat! It starts with the first bite.
  5. I had my sleeve on Thursday, April 9th. The major problems I have had are trapped gas (of course), and when I swallow a drink it hurts across my chest (like a spasm maybe?). I have also been going through the "what have I done to myself" phase as well. Can anyone help me through this? I really need some encouragement.
  6. I was sleeved April 9th and my surgeon closed with staples and put waterproof bandages over them. I go back this Friday to have the staples removed. A friend of mine was sleeved almost a year ago and she said that her surgeon didn't use staples, he used surgical glue and put lidocaine Patches over them and she had to wear a band around her middle. I never had to wear any kind of band. I am assuming this is just a difference in surgeon preference. I have no need for the patches, I really have not had any pain other than trapped gas. A little sore, but that's all. Just wondering what everyone else had.
  7. Wondering the same thing myself. If water and protein shakes hurt I'm kinda scared of food!
  8. It is definitely a struggle. And of course all of my friends who have been sleeved had no issues and are just wonderful! This site has been a life saver!! Read some posts from other people on here. It helps to know that some of these issues will pass. I'm new to all of this so I can't really give much advice but I'm here for support any time. Sounds like we are in the same boat.
  9. I was recently sleeved also (April 9) and I am going through the same thing. I researched this for years! Went to the seminars, researched online and in books, talked to numerous people who had the procedure and was 100% sure this is what I want and need to do. The day after surgery I was a crying mess asking God what had I done to myself. Finding this forum has helped tremendously. Nobody knows better than someone who has been through it and so many here have helped me. I still have the occasional down feeling but definitely better and ready to eat real food again, but at the same time scared to. Hope you feel better!!

    Having a hard time

Thanks everyone! It helps to hear this from people who have already been through it. I've just been so down these past few days. I'm so ready to feel normal again.

    Having a hard time

It is getting a little better each day but I can't shake this dreaded feeling that I've messed up. Before surgery I did all the research: talked to people who have had it done, went to a seminar by the surgeon, reached online, and most importantly, prayed about it. Going in I was 100% on board and so ready to have it done but since the surgery I have been really depressed, crying a lot and thinking I've messed up. Did you go through this?

    April 6 sleeve!

I had my surgery Thursday and I'm having those spasms when I take a drink. Even if it is a small sip I get a sharp pain across my chest. Does anyone know how long this usually lasts? I'm so ready to feel normal again.
  13. @@KellyJ1121 I had my surgery Thursday, April 9th. I'm feeling a little better but still having a good bit of trapped gas. How long does this take to work itself out? Also, has anyone had a problem with sharp pains across their chest when they take a drink?
  14. When did you all start to feel normal again?

    Gastric Sleeve

I just had my surgery 4/9 and I'm feeling lousy. Trying my best to get my fluids in and starting on Protein shakes now. No desire at all for anything with flavor, it makes me nauseated. Please tell me this will get better. When will I feel "normal" again?
