  1. 555g of salt would explain why Kim Jong-Un is so tense, he has HBP from all that sodium!

You know you lost weight when

You can wear a pair of jeans with a designer's name label over the back pocket rather than labels that say "Pass" and "Don't Pass" over the back pockets.
  3. What were these bad experiences and what message board and what did people write that you said "slapped the snot out of you"?

To Catheter or Not to Catheter?

Some advice. With friends like you, who needs "enemas".

    Do not compare me..!

That's nice. I'd just tell 'em to suck my big ole' booty! I would have told them the same thing, except 180 degrees around the corner.

You know you lost weight when

People gravitate over to you because they like the way you look rather than due to actual gravity.

    Excited so info plz

I strongly advise you, and anyone else, to do extensive research from multiple sources so you are well prepared.

    Call the Bariatrics police!

The bariatric police were called and they showed up. The next time you want to drink and post, maybe you should have a designated writer.

You know you lost weight when

When the owners of an all-you-can-eat buffet see you walking towards their restaurant, they don't quickly turn off the lights, close the curtains and flip the sign to "CLOSED" on the front door.

The huge chasm between XXL and XL...

Maybe look for ones that aren't cut for guys with a "V" shaped torso or are meant to be form fitting. There are plenty of shirts that fit nice and are young and stylish without having it look like you are wearing your Grandfather's shirt (unless dear old Grandpa is stylin').
  11. I was originally told by the nurses, literature and nutritionist to wait 30 minutes before and 1hour after eating before drinking (it was permissible to take a little sip of Water if the food was a little dry to help swallow the food, but I never had to take sips). About 7 months post surgery, the nutritionist informed me I can change this to 15-30 minutes before and 30 minutes after eating. It isn't that important to me to have a drink with my meal at the expense of making a slurry, washing the food through faster so that I don't feel full and end up eating more or sooner. I also have 2 cups of regular coffee a day (GASP!).
  12. What happened with Dr. Almanza??? Be sure to read through this entire thread and do a search on these forums for Almanza to see other posts. There are many people who have gone to Almanza and been very happy with the experience and have nothing but positive things to say. So make sure you read through everything and then make your own choice. I was referring to the comments in this article and others. Out of fairness, he has performed more surgeries, so there are bound to be a greater number of complications for all things given equal (lets say 1% of all surgeries for any surgeon). He did not perform surgery on me, so I can not speak about his abilities or the hospital. Many people also praise his surgical procedures and the hospital. There can be issues with any surgeon or any hospital. The main thing to do is research as much as you can, go for a second consult with another surgeon if possible and ask your surgeon and/or the nursing staff about specific questions regarding techniques, protocol, their procedure, their affiliation and ratings with professional societies (if applicable), how they will address your specific health needs (if you have any), etc., so you make the best educated selection of a surgeon/hospital that will accommodate your needs and capability .

    Fed Up on NETFIX

That was very "sweet" of you to post this information. This is an addiction. It is a serious subject and should not be "sugar coated".

    Discouraged/Sad

If the temptation is too much, then eat in another room or before or after them. Ask them not to offer you any of it. You will be able to enjoy fast food on occasion and in moderation later. Once you start enjoying your life after you lose your excess weight, you will realize it is only food and is it really worth going back to your pre-surgery self by over indulging on it. You can also make less fattening, healthier and cheaper versions of it at home later. Remember, it was our choice to be sleeved, the did not. They should be supportive of you if you explain how you feel.
  15. Wow! Those are some serious issues with Dr. Almanza.

You know you lost weight when

You truly now have the body of an athlete, before you did too, but unfortunately it was that of a Sumo wrestler.
  17. I'll take unrealistic ways to permanently keep off weight for $1000, Alex. -Oh wait, that is a different Alex. As much as I applaud the contestants for wanting to lose their excess body weight, the show is not realistic for the other 99.99999% (a made up number, but probably not too far off) of the population who need to lose weight and want to. Very few of us can quit our jobs and pay that kind of money to have a dedicated personal trainer on a resort for that length of time. We need to make lifestyle changes, I am sure many people (myself included) can attest to losing weight with a diet plan such as Weight Watchers, etc., just to gain it all back. We didn't make the lifetime commitment to keeping the weight off by exercising and eating differently. I treat my VSG (which I am thankful to be able to afford, even though the insurance copay was appreciable) as a tool. I am aware there are physical changes (ghrelin and other hormonal along with malabsorption and/or restriction) among other changes associated with these procedures. I need to take care of this tool, use it as it was intended, not abuse it or "let it rust" by not using it, just like any tool I have in my toolbox in my basement. That means that I need to eat in moderation, make healthy choices most of the time, exercise and consume enough Water and Protein on a daily basis, to name a few things. I would like to see the long term success of these contestants. They are ill-prepared for making this successful in the long run, but could possibly do so, if they follow the basic concepts. Instead of humans quickly fattening up an animal for slaughter for their own prosperity, these are animals who market this show (by exploiting morbidly obese and desperate contestants under the guise of trying to help people) by thinning down quickly humans for their own prosperity. That is why I don't watch the show. I am sure they are glad people are losing weight and becoming healthier, but how much effort do they put into the contestants to follow up with them and prepare them mentally and physically for their lives after the show when their usefulness is no longer needed?

    NSAIDs!

Only on a short term basis. If you have ulcers Ii would recommend you talking to your doctor first.

    New "addiction"?

Would it count if it was with B.O.B.?

"You'd be much prettier if you lost weight"

You should have told him "With an attitude like that, you're getting NUN (none)"!
  21. I researched the hospitals, then narrowed down my choice to one and attended an informational session. Afterwards I researched the bariatric surgery surgeons to look at their credentials and experience via the hospital's website, the AMA and internet -actually I should have gone to a weight loss support group to speak to other patients, but I was very confident in his skills before I even met with him.
  22. Here is an image of that 1 pound of fat: (Congratulations on the great work you are doing)

    Miniature Candy Bars

"You'd be much prettier if you lost weight"

Let her know that remarks like that hurt you. She may have meant it differently in her brain as a way to pay you a compliment and offer you some helpful advice, but somehow she ground the gears when it came out of her mouth. There is no way to put something like this properly in words. She should have just left it short and sweet as "You're pretty".
