  1. I find some people treat me better now. I was always easy to talk to and am a good listener and conversationalist. I know I have more self confidence and that is probably reflective in my mannerisms, etc., but for a couple of acquaintances I knew since I was obese, I definitely see a more positive way they conduct themselves with me. That is sad, those people were judging me on my weight. We do not look across a room full of people and say to ourselves to someone attractive on the other side of the room "wow, that person has a great personality", but I would rather have a great conversation with a plain looking obese person who is sincere, fun, intelligent, kind and real, than a conversation with a shallow, judgmental and self-centered, attractive & thin person.

  3. With looser skin post WLS, some people look older. Maybe they now look their age, especially if they were a little older and their tighter skin (due to being obese) made them look a little younger before the surgery? I'd rather look my age or look a little older than it post WLS and live a long life than someone saying "he looked so young" at my open casket because I died at an earlier age due to an obesity related disease.

    Going Back to Work

It all depends upon what type of work you do and how well you feel during the recovery. Most people feel well enough to go back to work in 1 to 2 weeks. Many surgeons recommend 2 to 3 weeks. Some return sooner but work less hours. There is no one-fit-all answer. Only you can make that decision based upon knowing what your job entails, how you normally react to being sick or if you had other surgeries (ex. Are you sidelined with the flu or are you still up and about?), what your surgeon recommends based upon the outcome of the surgery, financial and other personal reasons, etc.

    Missing food you like

You can still enjoy those same foods you enjoy in moderation and on occasion. You will learn to enjoy other foods that are healthier for you that you can enjoy more frequently. You don't have to breakup with those foods, you will need a separation from them for a little bit and then you can remain "just friends" thereafter.
  6. Here are some problems a motorcycle could have which could cause it to be all over the place: Tire pressure “Cupped” or badly uneven tire wear (especially the rear tire) See if a wheel lost a wheel weight Remove both wheels Check for bad bearings Check trueness of axles Check trueness of the wheels (primarily for spoke wheels) Ohh, you meant MENSTRUAL cycle, not MOTOR cycle. Nevermind, I'm outta here!

    Smelly flatuence

They are supposed to smell, otherwise hearing impaired people wouldn't be able to enjoy them too.

    Sexy halloween

What makes this risque is that your significant other is dressing up as "Peter Peter".
  9. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date. I am sorry to hear about your cancer. I hope you are feeling well.

When I change my screen name....

I don't know if using your email as your name is a good idea "the visible name part of my email would necessarily become the screen name. ". Nobody really cares what someone's screen name or avatar image is; they only are reading the posts. Keep your same name, since people recognize your posts. Also, if you change your name, as Elode pointed out, there may be notifications sent regardless. All of your posts ("activity") will still be available in your archive with your new name.
  12. Once in awhile as a treat is probably ok. It's hard to believe they can't accurately calculate the calories (or don't want to). Thanks for the info. I guess the only sure way to know it is low calorie, is to buy the container of ice cream, dump the ice cream out of the container into the garbage, rinse out the container and fill it with a salad.

    Skinny chasers

A guy goes out on 3 dates with different women to hopefully find a woman he would like to marry. He asks the 3 women the same question, "If I gave you $1 million dollars, what would you do with it? The first woman said: "I'd buy us expensive cars, expensive jewelry and go on luxury vacations with you". The second woman said: "I'd keep 1/2 and give you 1/2". The third woman said "I would buy a modest house as an investment for us to live in and take the remainder of the money and invest it wisely in diversified stocks for us to retire on, one day". Q) Which woman does the guy want to marry? A) The one with the biggest tits! This is only a joke, sorry if it just lit the fuse of a few people (sizzle, sizzle, sizzle). The joke can also be written: "A woman goes out on 3 dates with different men to hopefully find a man she would like to marry", but with the guy's anatomy in the last sentence. This post was starting to take ugly turns, so a little humor was in order.

    HIV

@@4MRB4PHOTO i am cancer free these past 15 year my left breast area had 2 nodes after speaking in depth with doc pre-op decided to have left breast removed prophylactic at the same time right breast was removed not understanding why having a "pill" (by doc) wouldn't/maybe be effective for not getting HIV?? not sure what else could be done to help the issue? "similar" to doc giving "day after pill" after you've had intercourse (within 3 days) to prevent pregnancy are these analogies ok to use at same time for HIV pill?? I AM NOT IN THE MEDICAL FIELD (can't spell prophylat either (checked webster too) @@del112 "Through my job, it seems I may have come in contact with the virus as such Dr. Has placed me on the HIV prophylactic i can't imagine the scary thoughts you are dealing with possible contact with HIV, being nauseous, sick, drained" hope things start to improve with nausea etc sending good thoughts that the fear of having HIV is just that a fear (understandable fear) take care good luck Kathy I am very happy for you that you have been cancer free for 15 years and hope you remain so for the remainder of your long and healthy life. I only made that remark based only on a "prophylactic" being a fancy term for a condom. I would be really scared if my doctor approached me wearing a condom; mostly because I have a female PCP.

    Skinny chasers

If you suspect they are a "fat-shamer", slipping in about how you were obese may not be a bad thing, this way you can weed out people with that kind of mentality, because they probably wouldn't have given you a second look when you were obese. I hate people like that. There are some people who give me the time of the day now that I lost weight. I am glad they showed their true colors; I rather have a conversation with an obese person who is sincere, true and kind then one with a normal weight person who is two-faced and shallow.

    Wine

My wife's favorite wine (whine) is: "Waaaaah, you never take me out". Before you self-righteous, soapbox standing people (we know who you are) condemn me on this remark, it is a joke, lighten up!

    HIV

I am hopeful you weren't infected. Is there something you can take for your nausea that is acceptable for your stomach but won't affect the efficacy of the medicine? I hope you feel better soon. I would be concerned if a doctor wanted to use a "prophylactic" on you (I know, technically the term is something that prevents disease, but the misspelling was funny) .

Can we talk about Halloween candy?

Buy candies you don't like, like wax lips (I don't know if they still make those, but they were horrible, literally they were made of wax and shaped like lips) or bring the leftover candy to work on Monday or give it to your next door neighbor's kids on 11/1.

    Any Torah observant Sleevers?

Maybe because some may interpret you are mutilating what God created in his image? But then isn't obesity to some extent? Maybe ask a Rabbi who is of the Reformed faith. I believe God will judge me on the content of my character not my surgically altered stomach.

Etiquette of posting in "[opposite sex] Only" forum?

It's also socially acceptable to use the men's room regardless of the number of stalls and grotesque porcelain things that jut from the walls (I'll omit their name) if the alternate is puddling on the lobby floor. Great story of your error. You gathered up all your possessions and your dignity. You are a shameless fellow and you know full well that such a title would draw all the weirdos. Didn't the title attract you? I used a "smiley" emoticon at the end because I was joking, not because the colon and closed parenthesis keys on my keyboard were lonely, connected on a dating service and went on a date in my post.

    Passed psyc eval!

Congratulations. The exam is for everyone's own good. The surgery can not fix deep emotional issues. Also, someone may have an addictive personality and cutting back on over eating could lead some people to cross addictions. They want to work with people to help them with what's "eating them". After the session was finished, you should have turned to the empty seat next to you and asked an imaginary person "How do you think I did?".

Etiquette of posting in "[opposite sex] Only" forum?

If you wanted a "Ladies Room Only" post, just post it with a title like: "Is anyone else experiencing a heavy menstrual flow after surgery?" You can write whatever you want in the post that is unrelated to this, and very few men would ever read it.
