  1. I told my wife "I won the lottery, start packing". She said "Where? Should I pack for a cruise, a tropical island or cool weather?" I said "I don't care what the hell you pack, just as long as you are out of the house by tonight". (This is only a joke. )

    Browser crashing

Maybe it's the pop-up ads? I don't have a problem when viewing this website on a PC, but it crashes all the time when viewed on a Nook tablet.

    What's the deal with ice?

Over 75% of the air we breathe is nitrogen gas, does this nurse not want you to breathe too? I think you should have asked that nurse to check your backside because you feel something wrong. Then when she took a peek under the hospital johnny you should have ripped a real nasty fart and told her "Whoopsie, I guess I ate some ice by accident. Sorry.".

    What's the deal with ice?

Yes there is hydrogen and oxygen in the ice, but unless your stomach is performing electrolysis, you are fine. Don't burp across an open flame after eating some ice, you might shoot out a fireball ) The scary thing is she is a nurse offering medical advice.
  5. I take full responsibility for my actions (or is it "eyes" take full responsibility for my actions.)
  6. Yes there is quite a bit of variation by the surgeons for the Pre/Post Op diets, even for the same surgery type. I would recommend following your surgeon's and nutritionist's recommendations. We are only talking about 1 month post surgery. There are many foods you can have at the appropriate stages and spices that you can use to change things up with. There are many things worse, such as a person who has no food to eat due to famine -I am sure they wouldn't mind a meal of boiled veggies or soup.
  7. You will give yourself an ulcer if you worry too much about trivial things such as consuming a cup or two of green tea.
  8. Does anyone miss their stomach? Nope, my food always goes through my mouth, down my esophagus and into my stomach. I haven't missed it yet.
  9. I agree with others that you should have annual lab work performed to check for deficiencies. It doesn't mean you will have a deficiency of a particular Vitamin or mineral, but eating a balanced diet along with a Multivitamin and other supplements (all within moderation, certain vitamins/minerals in mega doses are actually harmful) can help minimize or prevent it. Talk to your PCP, people have different medical needs, may have an ailment or are taking certain meds that they need to be careful about taking the supplement at the same time with and also how much of a supplement they take. Here is a chart I found regarding different vitamin and mineral deficiencies: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3571763/table/T2/

ADULTS SAY THE MOST STUPIDEST THINGS!

"You don't need the surgery, you aren't that heavy." (I was weighing in between 350-375 lbs the few years prior to surgery)
  11. "coffee, coke zero, honey whiskey, cheese dip), protein (meatballs, chicken wings, sausage dip" Man, that is going to be one really messy Trick-or-Treat bag.

    serious question for fellow "veterans"

Positive reinforcement could also be interpreted as the opposite of that. Granted no one should flame anyone who is asking for or providing advice that is respectful, but when people give tough love replies to questions such as "I am eating regular food like tacos and steak now, since I had the WLS surgery 6 days ago and have no problems. Why do I need to follow my surgeon's rules?"; it is for someone's safety and health. Granted, there is a huge difference between hostility and a Freudian slip, such as someone saying "YOU (bleep)ING B!+$#, YOU RUINED MY LIFE!". When the person meant to say "Mom, could you please pass the ketchup". This is NOT an example of a Freudian slip. Sorry for digressing, I did start the reply off seriously.

    Best before & After photo!

Congratulations on all of your hard work. You are very inspirational. Keep up your great efforts. I am relieved to see you weren't posting that you had a communicable disease from the CDC's website.
  14. Why? He mentioned spreading the vegemite on his toast, not his "donger".
  15. Don't care for em so it's all good!! Yankees fan?

    Dizziness anyone?

Low BP? Are you on any blood pressure medicine? If so, maybe with all of your weight loss, your blood pressure is normal or at least not as high now? If so, they can reduce the dosage. That is what happened with me. Contact your PCP. Good luck.
  17. I was 50 when I had the VSG performed and never regretted it (except for not having the surgery sooner). Congratulations on taking the steps forwards towards your WLS.
  18. I'll raise my glass of Protein mix and salute you. Keep up the great work!
  19. Did Daniel Webster provide legal representation for you?

    REGRETS

I never had a lap-band. As far as regrets about the VSG, as already stated, I regret not having this surgery performed a few years earlier.

The view from 'down there' (a ladies room post)

More like she got her "rocks off".

    Anyone try jalapeños peppers?

I would recommend you introduce spicy food slowly (try a little and see how you respond to it). I never had a problem with spicy food, but everyone is different. I had the VSG and enjoy spicy food. In fact I have some salsa I am going to eat as a snack later that I "amped up" with fresh jalapenos (and other veggies). Enjoy!

    Judged at the hospital

Those nurses need to be reminded by the hospital staff that comments like those should not be made to the patients. I for one would like to see all hospital staff (doctors too; advance degrees do not make you exempt from bacteria) be reminded of standard protocol to wash their hands before and after touching a patient to minimize the contamination of hospital surfaces and spreading diseases. It also is a good practice too for people visiting patients.
  24. Congratulations on your hard work!

To Those Who Have a Funny Bone

What they are really thinking... "So, you think this is all I eat? I have a steak waiting at home for me when I get out of this lousy, cheap date." Or they could be laughing at thinking: "You expect oral sex after this first date and all you bought me was a salad"?
