A pox on my cell phone carrier!

Did the midget porn involve a trampoline and stuffed animals too?

Latest Video Update on the Almanza Saga

He has a WLS website with many devoted followers; some are even quite militant about negative remarks about him. He performs many more surgeries per day than most WLS surgeons, so for the same percentage of complications, he will have more total complications. But given that, just the number of surgeries he reportedly performs per day (even with others opening and closing) is a concern. I like the mechanic who works on my car to have a lot of experience, but I don't want him to rush the repair of my car. He did not perform my surgery, I can't speak first hand about his capability as a surgeon.

    GoFundMe accounts?

If the AFC & NFC conference playoff games are boring this weekend, I'll pop some fat-free popcorn and read these columns instead.
  5. In addition to what I already posted, eating highly processed foods (which many times are heavily comprised of refined flour and sugar, fats, etc). I feel healthier when I am eating foods that are not highly processed and full of preservatives or at least minimize the foods that are.
  6. Happy belated birthday and congratulations on the fantastic effort you put in to lose that excess weight and keep it off!

    GoFundMe accounts?

A$$holes and opinions, everyone has one. Sometimes replies are about as subtle as a sledgehammer, so there is no misinterpretation; other times, since this is not a face to face conversation with visual cues, someone's reply may be misinterpreted.

    Nervous and Hopeful

Congratulations. You are researching about WLS, collecting data and are taking this seriously. You will successfully lose your excess body weight.

    Fasting phase

Per the commercial, I was going to tell you "When you are not yourself, have a Snicker's bar", but that wouldn't be appropriate today.

"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...

And you know this how? (Not saying it's not true -- but I haven't seen anything about this online elsewhere.) Elvis Presley told this to Big Foot after they exited a UFO that landed. It must be true, I read it on the internet.
  12. Unless you're a fly, "eating like crap" is probably the refined white flour & sugar, high caloric junk foods like chips, ice cream, Cookies, excessive daily servings of Pasta, rice and white bread, etc.

You know you lost weight when

Your pets come around to the dinner table because there are finally scraps.
  15. You're not a failure. You want to do something about your excess weight and successfully did. Try going back to basics. Journal your Protein, Water, exercise, food and quantities. Measure your portions for the higher calorie items, eat slowly and chew each small bite many times. Plus all of the other efforts you use to put in when you successfully lost that weight. Stay positive. You can do it again!
  16. Asking a question is good, but I recommend you do extensive research from major bariatric surgery center of excellence hospitals, JAMA, ASMBS and other respected publications, attend a WLS informational meeting, WLS support group meetings and discuss your findings and concerns with your PCP and surgeon to address your specific medical needs. Good luck.
  17. BEST: Seeing my family after waking up from the anesthesia. Professionalism and caring surgeon and medical staff. A smooth surgery and recovery with minimal discomfort. WORST: My health care provider refusing to cover the procedure only ~2 weeks before the surgery due to "not being on a medically supervised diet for at least 3 months" and "my PCP not recommending/approving the procedure even though they were paying for a nutritionist for a few months and had a recommendation from my PCP. After phone calls from my surgeon's & PCP's office and myself along resubmitted info, they "graciously" approved the procedure and I had the surgery on the scheduled date.

    Biggest Loser

Do they continue to work with the contestants after they are off the show to help them try to successfully keep off that excess weight they lost and/or help them with a realistic diet and exercise plan that they can follow "back in the real world" or do they just forget about them once their usefulness is over?

    What can I do with...Avocado?

I like to make my own sushi rolls (Nori w/cooked sushi rice, thin slices of avocado, cucumber, carrots and artificial crab legs) on occasion.
  20. Walgreens and CVS (plus other chains) run different weekly buy-one-get-one-free ads for their own brand or name brands. I usually buy the store brands.

"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...

Oprah is wealthy, she isn't obese like us common folk, she is "A lover of food and one to whom exercise is not a common occurrence".

    Coffee?

In moderation, caffeine will not cause you to lose any appreciable amount of Water. That was even stated by my surgeon's head nurse. But given that, I did follow their instructions of not drinking any caffeinated coffee the few weeks before and after surgery. I also try to consume much less caffeinated coffee now. If someone is prone to ulcers or has a cardiac condition, then they should follow their doctor's recommendations for caffeine consumption. I was told 1-2 servings of regular coffee a day is ok. Also keep in mind that tea and many sodas contain caffeine. You can double those numbers if you switch to half-caffeinated (or make your own) or just use decaffeinated coffee, although the acidic nature of most coffee could still be a stomach irritant. Plain water is still the best for keeping us hydrated; I will flavor mine with caffeinated coffee 2 times a day.
