    Should I be Concerned?

Sorry to hear that, but I am glad they caught it early. Thankfully you contacted your PCP. We all mean well here, but the best sound advice was given to "call your doctor". I have read posts by people that sound like infections, blood clots, cardiac issues, a leaking incision, negative reactions to a medicine, etc. Some posters have a medical background or similar medical experiences, but certain symptoms should be mentioned to a doctor or nurse first.

    Alcohol?

That's funny, so does drinking alcohol.

The dresses don't make you, you make the dresses. Congratulations on your weight loss.
  4. It's not a bad idea to try to get the most Protein "bang for the buck (or calorie)". Here's a link to some examples of proteins, their serving size, calories and protein/serving. http://www.todaysdie...tentofFoods.pdf Maybe you can make selections using these and their similar foods.

I hope you don't end up looking gaunt...

With that remark he wasn't being a very "civil" engineer. I don't think he was trying to insult you. It is probably that his mouth was in drive but he was grinding his brain gears. Too bad for him, you probably look like a different 5 letter word starting with "G" and ending with "T"...GREAT!.

    Lets talk Tea....

I am not too much of a tea fan, but I do like "T and A"; but that's a post for a different forum.

    Who has Cigna ?

Yes, I have CIGNA. The denied coverage 2 weeks before the scheduled WLS procedure due to my not being on a medically supervised diet for at least 3 months and my PCP's not approving this surgery. My doctor already approved the surgery and they were paying for my meeting with the hospital's dietician for almost 5 months at that point. I spoke w/ the hospital, my PCP and CIGNA, we squared away everything. If I ever need to have another procedure that involves more than just my PCP's approval, I will stay proactive with CIGNA to make sure they have all of the information on record and all of the "T's" crossed and "I's" dotted.
  8. Congratulations on going through with your surgery. It's ok bro, you are not alone in feeling that way. You will be able to eat the same foods again, just in smaller quantities and for some, less frequently. Yeah, there is a difference in eating (smaller quantities, chewing more, not drinking a liquid a little before or after, etc.) but look at all of the things you will be able to do post surgery and the longer, healthier, better quality life you will live, more NSVs than you can shake a stick at, etc.. You made the right choice.

    Bypass vs sleeve

Asking a question is good, but I recommend you do extensive research from major bariatric surgery center of excellence hospitals, JAMA, ASMBS and other respected publications, attend a WLS informational meeting, WLS support group meetings and discuss your findings and concerns with your PCP and surgeon to address your specific medical needs. Good luck.

    Popeyes!

I had an eating disorder therapist who was convinced almost all of our eating issues come down to se. I think there is a lot to that theory. Especially when it involves whipped cream, ice or edible underwear.

    Wouldn't it be nice

It was the first thing I thought of We think alike? I'm scared!.....MOMMY!!!!!!

    Wouldn't it be nice

Wouldn't it be nice... ......if we were older Then we wouldn't have to wait so long And wouldn't it be nice to live together In the kind of world where we belong.... (The title of the post reminded me of the Beach Boys song)

    Interesting observation

Thank you. I am glad you had a chuckle. As a side note, no vegetables were harmed in the making of this commercial.

    Interesting observation

Yeah, unfortunately, sponsors don't want to shell out thousands of dollars to advertise things like celery. I can picture that commercial: (The mother takes a bag of celery out of the 'fridge, washes it and cuts it into segments) Mom: "Children. Who wants fresh celery as a snack?" (The children come running down the stairs) Children: "We Do! We Do!" Mom: "Don't eat too much or you will ruin your appetite for supper." Child1: "We won't." Child2: "I love celery. It has no taste and has stringy things that get caught in your teeth." Children: "Mom, you're the greatest. You buy us celery." (The mom and children all share a group hug. The scene fades to black). That was well worth the $4Million for a 30 second commercial to advertise during the Super Bowl.

    Popeyes!

Thanks for the info. If I go, I'll think of the biscuit as looking better than Halle berry.
  16. Have a talk with your Dad and tell him how you feel. Research information about WLS with him. Go to a WLS information session at a bariatric hospital and attend some WLS support group meetings with him. He is very fortunate to have a caring child like yourself.

    Debbie Downers...

Tell them in a very calm voice "Thank you for your encouraging words"; then walk away. They will figure out very quickly that you just told them to "Go (bleep) yourself".

    Nuff Said....

Ohhhh, you are talking about the "Make the chubby kids sit on their butt and then walk like a crab while they kick a ball" game. Or, maybe it's called "Crab Soccer".

    Snow Day Fun

That sounds relaxing, just as long as you aren't reading a book about the "Donner Party".

    Nuff Said....

Ahhh, the good old days. How did we survive childhood? We played with spring loaded toys, toys with small parts or rough metal edges, pointed toys, guns that fired plastic objects, BB guns and even "lawn darts". Since child-proofing everything all we have to worry about is whatever chemicals they use to make it with in China or bringing our kids to Chipotle.
  21. People saying something to the effect "you took the easy way out" seems to be fairly common. It possibly may be incorrectly perceived as simple in their minds, just have your stomach and/or intestines surgically altered; but it definitely isn't an easy process and it requires a lifetime commitment. Bull riding is simple, all you need to do is stay on the bull for 8 seconds. That is definitely not easy either!
  22. As already stated, long term use of PPIs have been associated with bone thinning (due to calcium loss or not being fully absorbed?) Ulcers and GERD are also a serious issue too. Everyone is different. Get you surgeon, PCP and nephrologist all on board for what is best for you given your medical condition(s) and history. If you need to take PPIs for the long term or permanently, maybe calcium supplements could help (there are also studies done linking large long term dosages of calcium with cardiac and other diseases ); they could also perform periodic bone density tests to make sure there isn't any bone thinning.

    People Suck!

Keep up the great work with your excess weight loss. You had every right to verbally go off on her, but you showed class. She is mean and hateful.

Remind me to NEVER piss you off!

    GoFundMe accounts?

We became a P.C. society. There are many positive aspects of that, but sometimes, good old fashion "tough love" is needed instead (a hug afterwards is a nice follow-up).
