I have NOT Regretted my WLS for a Single Moment
4MRB4PHOTO replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss and excellent state of mind. -
Are you prone to ulcers? Coffee can be a little acidic as can be many other foods and beverages. I was allowed to have coffee soon after the surgery and return to caffeinated coffee after about 2 months. I was told up to 2 cups a day of regular coffee is ok. I am starting to mix decaf coffee with my regular coffee to lessen the amount of caffeine I consume. Re: Caffeine, people should keep in mind that many teas and diet sodas also contain caffeine.

Metabolic bone changes after bariatric surgery
4MRB4PHOTO posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just read an interesting ASMBS article on WLS and metabolic bone changes "Metabolic bone changes after bariatric surgery" located here: https://asmbs.org/resources/metabolic-bone-changes-after-bariatric-surgery People should consider taking their recommended Calcium, Vitamin D and other supplements and get periodic blood tests (although blood tests may not always be conclusive; a different article I read). As with any supplements you should consult your PCP and/or surgeon since there are medical conditions that could arise from taking larger doses and people may have other medical conditions that can be affected by these or are taking certain meds that can be affected (absorption of these supplements or their meds, etc.). -

Did I do the right thing?

When you move onto more solid foods, maybe make meals that are healthy for both of you that you both can enjoy. Sit down and tell him that he could relate this to someone having an addiction who was trying to clean themselves up. He wouldn't smoke or drink alcohol in front of them (not saying he does) while they are recovering. Maybe he could see why eating fast food or fattening Snacks in front of you at this stage similarly? Trust me, it gets better. Congratulations on your surgery and weight loss so far! You made the right choice. -
I do a lot more for other people then what they reciprocate with. This can lead to disappointment since we expect others to be like us. It doesn't have to be equal in nature or even one for one, but a handmade card or letter, plate of veggies (cookies are better, but we are all WLS pre/post patients here), or even a little token gift from a thrift store can all say "Thanks, I appreciated that". Continue to do nice things for her (and others), it makes you feel good. Just don't expect people to reciprocate and you won't set yourself up for disappointment. For people that only know how to take and not give, maybe don't do as much for them. As my mother always told me when I was younger, "Get out of the bathroom and stop doing that! You'll go blind!". (I know that isn't profound or remotely related in any way, but I hope you smiled).

If that doesn't work, take the piece of paper out of the box, roll it up into a tight paper wad, find the individual you wrote it about and throw it at that person's head.

Does anyone feel angrier or more 'indignant' post surgery?

I need help/a kick in the pants

You have done a great job so far and will continue to do so. Don't beat yourself up. Maybe get back to basics and journal your daily food/quantities, liquids and Protein. Include the times and maybe comments ("I was emotionally stressed out", "Stayed 2 hours late at work, ate late while very hungry", etc., so you can maybe see a trend, the quantities or come up with a plan to mitigate the too many less-than-healthy choices. (Did this help? ) -
@WLSResources/ClothingExch I'm not sure what I wrote. Maybe I mentioned I have a child in college? Regarding the simultaneous wearing of a cross-dresser wearing underwear and panties at the same time is ridiculous! (They wear the undergarment of their gender when they dress in their gender's clothing and as the opposite gender, they wear the other gender's undergarments. ) @@Dub I didn't need that "commando" image. Does anybody have some Clorox I can think about.

That is why I said "...many people refuse to take responsibility for their actions, whether it is excess weight loss or life in general....". Responsibility isn't just related to weight loss.

It works. I saw a photo of the 3 most wanted men on the FBI's most wanted list:

The majority of the people who reviewed it on Amazon disliked this particular product. There is no such thing as a free lunch. I mean at 0 calories and comprised of mostly vegetable Fiber, no one should expect this to taste like the real thing. I still might give this a try (or one of the other blends).

Thank you for the link. I looked up the nutritional info for the peanut spread: Here's the Amazon.com ratings: Customer Reviews 1.7 out of 5 stars 389 5 star 5%4 star 7% 3 star 8% 2 star 6% 1 star 74%

Some of these replies are a little harsh. We are talking about your sister not a coworker or member of your congregation. She never said you took the easy way out or she would blabber all over town about your WLS procedure; only that she wasn't going to lie to anyone. Have a heart to heart talk in private with your sister explaining why you would like this kept a secret and you respect that if in the small chance that someone asks her directly about you having WLS that if she can not lie, she can tell the truth that you are working very hard to lose weight on a medically supervised diet and you are doing a fantastic job at it. Nothing more, nothing less.

T and A...tea and additives right??!! Lol Yeah, that's correct. That is what I meant, additives like whipped cream. -
What, specifically, caused you to become obese?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Short answer, me. Yes my family has a tendency to be overweight and obesity does run in the family, but I control what I put in my mouth. Being overweight is one thing, allowing myself to weigh as much as ~375 pounds is another. I rewarded myself with food, ate to deal with stress, snacked for no reason, did not exercise and should have eaten smaller portions and less of the high caloric items. I could go into blaming my family or others, who may have sometimes been a catalyst, but ultimately, the "buck (or fat in this case) stops here". -
I'm sorry, what were you saying? I was distracted by your great pair of..........eyes.

As a member of the "Y-Chromosome" club, I apologize for those of us that still drag our knuckles. That was a very degrading thing for those men to do. I for one believe that women should be placed high upon a pedestal -high enough so you can see under their skirts.

I am sure it was only just being mentioned to you as an FYI. Some topics set certain people off. I am sure if someone posted about puppies frolicking in a pasture of wild flowers, somebody will flip out, out there in the cyberworld. I know, right? I mean, who do those puppies think they are? Don't they know there is a wild flower crisis right now? How do you think those poor wild flowers feel being trampled on? And by swarmy, arrogant puppies who have no regard for those wild flowers' rights! Exactly. That is why we need to tie them up in burlap bags and toss them in the river.....not puppies, but people who complain all the time.
