A Hard Day's Night by the Beatles. That explains a lot. Ditto to "A Hard Day's Night". We must share the same birthday week. Happy Birthday ~6 months in advance. -

I was 3 years old when her version of Otis Redding's song came out. You're just a "youngin'" compared to me. -
Not in the bear community. I'm worried about being too thin. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk Oh wow that's excellent! As a woman I am always fearful of being stereotyped "butch lesbian" crap. In reality I'm uber girly so that makes people say "you don't LOOK gay" So apparently I can't win! Lol Excuse me, that is not being PC. The correct term should be "vagetarian", not 'lesbian".

Also, we must not forget: Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son" Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on" God say, "No." Abe say, "What ?" God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but The next time you see me comin' you better run" Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done ?" God says. "Out on Highway 61". -Bob Dylan, "Highway 61 Revisited" As long as you aren't judging people or saying your religion is better than theirs, use God in your postings. Some people may take offense and think you are being "holier than thou" or pushing your religion on them. If you are very spiritual in your normal everyday life, why should your postings in this forum be any different? -
There was a preacher who fell in the ocean and he couldn't swim. When a boat came by, the captain yelled, "Do you need help, sir?" The preacher calmly said "No, God will save me." A little later, another boat came by and a fisherman asked, "Hey, do you need help?" The preacher replied again, "No God will save me." Eventually the preacher drowned & went to heaven. The preacher asked God, "Why didn't you save me?" God replied, "Fool, I sent you two boats!"

Life After Bariatric Surgery Q&A
4MRB4PHOTO replied to 4MRB4PHOTO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might be correct, but I would hope that an organization of almost 4000 members of the bariatric profession would publish the up to date medical information. Unless the source of the food is extremely dense with protein, a post WLS person won't be able to eat much more than 30g at a time. -
Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to needtorecover's topic in Rants & Raves
Some PCPs may lack people skills, but most are trying to impress upon their obese patients the importance of losing weight (diseases, shortened life expectancy, mental health, etc.) based upon their first hand knowledge and experience. A PCP should not say "You fat (bleep), why don't you put the fork down some time and go for a walk!" -That would be cruel, unprofessional and unsupportive. They could say "According to the weight/height charts, you should try to grow 4 feet taller". My PCP encouraged me to lose weight in a positive way by suggesting dieting, offering advice on losing weight and over time, eventually entertaining the thought of bariatric surgery. She is a consummate doctor, has great people skills, is very caring and THANKFULLY, has a small index finger (guys know what I mean). -

Veteran Sleevers please chime in.
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Biloxigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here are a few Q&A's from the ASMBS: Q: How much Protein do I need daily? A: Most patients get 60-80 grams daily, but some may require more depending on their response to surgery or their type of operation. Your dietitian can provide more detailed information. Q: Can I take all of the protein in one dose? A: Protein should be taken in multiple doses, across multiple meals or healthy Snacks. The body cannot absorb more than approximately 30 grams at once. Also, protein is a nutrient that helps us feel fuller, longer. If we try to include Proteins in each of our meals or healthy snacks, we’re less likely to feel hungry when it’s not time to eat. Q: How should I get my protein? With shakes? Bars? What if I’m a vegetarian? A: There are many options even for those with special dietary needs or preferences. Your dietitian can provide additional information on protein sources. meats, eggs, dairy products, and Beans are common protein sources in everyday foods. Protein extracts made from soy, brown rice and whey are commonly sold in stores. Protein Shakes or bars may offer additional ways to meet your protein needs. You may find it helpful to calculate your daily protein intake to be sure you’re not falling short. As you are able to tolerate more regular foods, you get a higher portion of the requirement during regular meals and supplements become less necessary. Q: What happens if I don’t take in enough protein? A: The body needs additional protein during the period of rapid weight loss to maintain your muscle mass. Protein is also required for your metabolism to occur. If you don’t provide enough protein in your diet, the body will take its protein from your muscles and you can become frail. -

Don't stress yourself out. It is better that they make sure you have no small cardiac issues before the surgery and are being cautious. If they notice a little something out of the ordinary, they might only just monitor you closer, perform the procedure very slightly differently or prescribe a medicine for the short term. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. For your piece of mind, maybe have your cardiologist's nurse explain what they saw?

Congratulations. I am very Hapyy for you.

I would be careful of his advice based upon his "Miss Universe" winner announcement. S.H. (that's Steve Harvey): "You need to Act Like a Man, Think Like a Lady, I mean, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, sorry I read the manuscript wrong".

Hospital bag....what do I need?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to nicky2221's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A photo ID (someone can bring it to you after the surgery) just in case you wish to fill a narcotic pain medicine -not that you should need it, I was never in any significant pain outside of accidentally twisting too far the day after the surgery. Also a car door. If it gets too warm in your room, you can roll down the window. Congratulations. We look forward to hearing about your successful weight loss, post surgery. -

Those lousy vegetables. I let those "screaming, dying plants" die in agony. I'll boil the "baby" carrots right in front of the full size carrots, slowly peel away the skin on onions and pluck the "eyes" out of the potatoes. -

How many vitamins do you take?

Did anyone experience fairly moderate changes to their eyesight post WLS after they lost a considerable amount of their excess body weight? When I went to the optometrist, my prescription changed fairly significantly (No, it isn't due to internet porn ). I asked if the pressure on the eye could have changed due to either losing weight or blood pressure lowering, he said no. I was just thinking in terms of the eye focusing the light on the retina, if the focal point changed due to the curvature of the lens, maybe that could possibly explain it. Either that or it was 2 years between optometrist visits and maybe my prescription would have changed regardless. He went to medical school, I didn't.

I like to use Sriracha or chipotle sauces. Minced garlic is always a favorite (must be from my Romanian ancestry -as a bonus it keeps the vampires away) . -
Cold medicine?

I wonder if instead of using lemons, someone could use limes? Then all you need is to add some tequila to the water and pour some salt around the rim of your bath tub. -
