chia seeds? are they safe for sleeves?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to crazyplantlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your doctor says no for right now, you can always buy a terra cotta statue and spread them on to grow as hair (Cha-Cha-Cha-Chia). -
MY new discovery hope it helps someone

Exactly the point I was trying to make.... Hypothetically speaking, if a fly was to get WLS, would that still hold true? -
Gastric Embolization - The Trendy Fake Treatment For Obesity?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I saw the same broadcast too. It offers an alternative to people who don't want WLS to reduce the ghrelin and the associated feelings of hunger. They just shouldn't expect the same results as techniques such as gastric bypass or the sleeve unless they are fully dedicated to a lifestyle change -then again WLS is only a tool too, not a "golden ticket" either, it requires a lifestyle change too. Maybe they can use this in conjunction with the stomach stent I read about, one day as a less evasive approach. The medical field is advancing. Look at this weight loss approach many years ago: -
Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to taramarie523's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I prefer to be honest with people. That doesn't mean you need to broadcast to everyone about the WLS unsolicited. I wouldn't recommend making up a story that it is a different kind of surgery, just in case the gallbladder or appendix magically grew back later and needed to be removed "again". To each their own. There is no one right answer, everyone has to do what is right for them and their situations. -
I think I stretched out my stomach, is it too late to shrink it by eating smaller portions again?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to k520's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get back to basics, measuring your portions, drinking enough liquids, eating enough Protein, journaling all of your daily food, protein, liquids and exercise. Not all calories are created equal (nor are they "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness") After you review your journal, you will see your successful efforts and where you can improve on things. -
Weird s**t your body does (or "I know I ate too much, I need to sneeze.."

I definitely feel the cold a lot more too without the extra fat insulation. I haven't had "Charlie Horses" in my calves, but I was getting occasionally severe muscle cramps, that lasted a few minutes, in my inner thigh at night after laying down for a long period of time. I kept myself well hydrated, eat a balanced diet and take multi-Vitamins. I read online that magnesium or potassium supplements can help (I took a regular dosage of each on alternate days), it did help. I mentioned this to my PCP, she wasn't concerned about the cramps, but was a little more concerned about taking the potassium supplement, in case I ever developed a kidney issue, so she recommended I stop taking that supplement. Maybe ask your PCP before you start taking potassium supplements (above and beyond what is in your multivitamin). -
I think Negan is actually a WLS success story and one of the characters kneeling down in front of him told him "You took the easy way out". Just a theory, nothing to base it on.

I have 2-3 cups of regular coffee a day but with artificial sweetener and my surgeon is good with that (but they do prefer 2 and if possible, decaffeinated). Follow your specific recommendations. I also use a straw on rare occasions. (BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP) THIS IS THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. A SEVERE S*** STORM IS HEADING THIS WAY. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO FLIP OUT AT 2-3 CUPS OF REGULAR COFFEE AND THE USE OF A STRAW AFTER THE FINAL POST BARIATRIC WLS DIET PHASE. PLEASE SEEK SHELTER UNTIL THIS PASSES. (BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP)

Makes you wonder who that is happening to. Offering to feed (a part of someone) to (a different someone) if they moved makes you wonder who Negan is doing that to. I guess we will find out in the fall. (I left this generic for whoever didn't watch it yet and wants to; they probably shouldn't be reading these posts if they do).

Sorry about your losses. Emotional eating, IMHO, is something that we probably never lose the addiction for, only control. Don't allow yourself to do that. Find other avenues to explore (hobbies, exercise, etc.) when you get to that point. If you are between meals and hungry (and not head hungry) have a low calorie beverage or a low calorie snack. You can do it. Stay strong.

Sleeve and Stage 1 Kidney Disease

Personal advice and experience from patients is a great start. Make sure your PCP, surgeon, nutritionist and endocrinologist are all on board. -
Honestly why r men A****? 5days post op
4MRB4PHOTO replied to choicemun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It carries some gentic defects. That is why the gender of the human species with two x chromosomes don't light farts on fire and laugh. Also spelling errors too, such as dropping the second e in genetic. -

Did you speak to him and explain that his eating these foods in front of you, just 5 days post surgery, is difficult for you. Also, is it possible he is eating fast food 5 days in a row because he doesn't want to cook just for himself and it more convenient and easier, not because he is trying to "rub it in your face"? Your first assessment could be right, but determine that after you talk to him. -
I don't know, this is what happened to the last person here who decided to forgo surgery, lose weight the traditional method and still post here.

Friends and Family?!
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Gigiandthesleeve25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My family has been supportive, as has friends, neighbors and coworkers. Perhaps people are not as supportive behind my back, but that is not my concern. I needed to have this WLS for me, my health and so I can be around to take care of my family; if they can't deal with that, I'm sorry, that is their problem. -
Most companies have a "reasonable use" policy of company owned assets. Making a couple of faxes or even photocopies on your coffee or lunch break or before or after your shift should be acceptable.

Just don't groom yourself in public the same way the cat does.

Blame it on your dog. Just tell everyone that your dog had bariatric WLS.

I am sorry you had to go through this. Do you mean the (his?) website Gastricsleeve Forum? -
Be careful of long term continued use of PPIs like Omeprazole/Prilosec, recent studies link them to bone density loss. If the risk of an ulcer or other ailments is greater, then the long usage or maintenance use of this is probably better. That is a case by case call that someone's PCP or surgeon can make.

What is the difference between the RNY and gastric bypass?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to foxhound1214's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They are not always the same. There are 2 types of Bypass surgery. Mini bypass/Omega loop and the Roux en Y. Onega loop has one anastemosis. RNY has two anastemoses and greater issues with malabsorbtion. Sent from my GT-I9505 using the BariatricPal App Thank you for clarifying this. The question was comparing the gastric bypass to the Roux-En-Y, which I have heard and read people (including doctors) use interchangeably; not the mini-bypass.
