How plus size stores rip us off!

I shop the clearance racks at department stores and online clearance/sales with coupons and have found much higher quality items for less than I would have paid for at Walmart for a lower quality item. You can also find discount and free shipping codes posted on the internet for many stores for online purchases. I also will buy gently used 2nd hand clothes too And my clothes at "sacks" (I know it is spelled differently)
  3. That is not politically correct and a derogatory remark to hammers!
  4. I am so embarrassed, I didn't know that I wasn't being "PC". When I was working on the distributor of my first car (pre-modern electronic distributorless ignitions), I needed to "R-word" the spark when tuning it up. I can understand people taking offense to this, but I don't believe "dcd197's" intent was to use it in a way to make fun of someone who is truly cognitively impaired; that would be hateful and cruel. I never interpreted it that way, but I can understand why people are offended by the use of that word.
  5. If I had to take a guess, I would agree with the others that your body is in ketosis. I did the Atkins diet a few years ago, I believe that starts in about 2 days. You can look up the symptoms and see if that makes sense. During this short period of time be careful not to attract any bears.

    Unfriendly friends

It doesn't sound like her weight loss plan is working very well for her. Don't let unsupportive people influence you or affect your efforts. An opinion is one thing, being very pessimistic and unsupportive is another.

I'm BAAACCCKKKKK to the land of the internet ...

Incase anyone forgets to mention it, "Welcome Back!".
  8. To tell, or not to tell: that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing their opinions? To agree: to disagree?.... This has been a heated debate by some members on both sides. Thankfully Shakespeare lived before WLS.
  9. Tell her "My former best friend, may she rest in peace, said something like that to me...ONCE". Just kidding, mention to her nicely after one of those remarks that bother you "I know you aren't saying (whatever that remark was) on purpose, but it bothers me. I enjoy talking to you , but can we talk about something different."; or something to that effect. You got your point across. If she was deliberately doing that, you made your point to nicely call her out on it. If she was doing this without realizing the impact of it, then she was made aware. If she continues to do so and doesn't respect your wishes, contact your supervisor and then HR if necessary. Otherwise, go to Home Depot or Lowes, buy duct tape, some rope and a shovel.

    Feeling odd eating at restaurants

I haven't gone out too much to eat, but I don't feel odd doing so. A couple of servers seemed puzzled when I don't want anything to drink including when they offered a glass of Water. I once had a manager ask if the food was ok, because they saw I pushed the plate away with only half of it eaten because they thought I didn't like how it was prepared. I should have written to the restaurant chain; that was very observant and great manager skills.
  11. First and foremost, WOW! That is an amazing transformation. Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss efforts! (And now for a joking comment) I heard that the "arse cream" only works if someone drinks too much and ends up sh**-faced.

Damn Stomach! Leave ME! The last Hurdle...

Nice work with your weight loss. Unfortunately that skin is like a balloon (once you blow it up, and release the air, it is now stretched out) except we did it with fat. If it is really bothering you, maybe one day get plastic surgery, otherwise wear it like a battle scar to show your triumph over obesity.

    Sleeve or Bypass

Did you do extensive research, factor in your present health conditions, go to WLS support groups and to a WLS informational session so you can discuss your findings with your surgeon?

    Leading up to my death?

If you are in good health the risk is very low something catastrophic will happen. Talk to the team when you get there, they will help you stay relaxed. I won't say "good luck", you don't need it, but instead "I'm looking forward to reading your posts after your WLS".

    Hubby not being supportive

Your bigger risk in the long term is being obese. Go to a local WLS support group with him and maybe an informational session. Hearing others and medical professionals talk about it might put his mind to ease.\ I am sure he loves you and is scared of losing you. But at the end of the day, it is your body, your decision. As far as "choosing the easy way out" -OUCH! I won't comment on that one.
  16. Damn, I should have been an Army doctor. PS. Thank you for serving our great Nation.
  17. This topic made me think of Dan Akyroyd's comic portrayal of Julia Child in an old SNL parody of "The French Chef". "Save the liver"
  18. 4MRB4PHOTO

    Fatty Liver?

Your liver is in the area of the surgery, there is a slight risk of it being cut during the procedure. Obese people can have enlarged livers (I do not know what percentage, nor will I guess). Shrinking your liver by losing weight and following a pre-op diet plan prior to surgery can greatly lessen that small risk of a complication. The extra room you create in your abdomen by losing weight is that much more room for the surgeon to work in, the less excess weight you have can lower your risk of complications from/during the surgery and as an added bonus gets you closer to your goal weight.

What are your favorite exercise videos?

Thank you for these suggestions and links. I have to give them a look and try. Unfortunately, this has been my workout routine lately.

    BAM....and there it is.

I am very sorry your father treats you like that. Try to talk to him one on one and explain how those "jokes" (I hope they aren't intended deliberately) hurt you deeply. If he can't respect that, then maybe minimize your conversations with him and keep them very vanilla until he gets a clue that something is wrong. Unfortunately, we can't pick and choose our parents. Sending a couple of smiles your way to cheer you up.

    Ready to cry

You are only 2 wake-ups away right now. Hang in there, we all know you can do it. Follow your surgeon's plan. Believe in yourself and keep up the great work.
  22. HEYYYYYY! That is not politically correct! Us heavy people should be called "gravitationally challenged".
  23. And I would bet that you would do the same all over again if given the chance. Material assets mean nothing compared to our health. Besides, your stomach isn't going to depreciate each year. Maybe with the money you save with less health related medical issues and lower food costs, you can save up for a deposit on a slightly newer truck? Driving a rusty truck on the pavement side of the road is better than being on the dirt side.
