  1. No offense was taken. Thanks.
  2. It was posted in sarcasm due to the more frequent responses with people's shit attitudes that are found in many different posts.

    First Time Out Drinking

    You had me at "porn".
  4. Good thing Teddy Roosevelt wasn't alive and posting here.

    Week one after surgery!

Follow your surgeon's plan, but are you ready to enter the puree phase now? Keep up the great work, it gets easier.

There's a devil in my office

@LipStickLady: "I dropped a booger in that box. You're welcome." Damn. And I thought it was just a sprinkle with a short thin curly hair on it (hopefully that was an eyelash hair).

What the hell did I do to my body?

Sending a virtual cold shower your way.

    ONE must know thing....

Pre-Surgery: You must be prepared to make a lifestyle change commitment and not expect surgery to allow you to eat as much as you want of everything whenever you want (you need to eat in moderation and appropriate for a WLS patient). Also, surgery alone probably won't change any deep emotional issues which may cause you to overeat. Follow your pre-WLS diet and exercise plan. Post Surgery: Remember what you committed to for the Pre-surgery. Follow your post-WLS diet and exercise plan. Enjoy your new life.
  9. @@summerset Unless a "vet" is a health care professional, especially one that deals with obesity and/or bariatric medicine, they can only go by their personal experience and what they read. Many times they are spot on, other times they are offering advice that may not be completely accurate. Without knowing the person's health background, medicines they are taking and any medical conditions or conditions they are at a higher risk of, it is best to answer them with "follow your plan", etc.. For example, someone writes they have leg cramps and someone tells them to take large doses of potassium supplements because it worked for them and they read it can help those symptoms. Unfortunately the person asking for help has kidney problems -that could be medically unsafe. Yes, people do look up to "vets" but they also need to follow their plans. If someone is doing one thing they shouldn't, then there is a good chance they aren't following other parts of the plan (eating too fast, eating certain foods before the appropriate stage, not exercising, not drinking enough liquids, not eating enough Protein, not taking their appropriate Vitamin supplements, amongst other common plan recommendations).
  10. Just as long as people don't follow Marie Antoinette's diet advice: "Let them eat cake". Now it makes sense. It must have been the 1 week, post bariatric WLS French peasants on their liquid diets who executed her by guillotine.

    Cheated

Follow your surgeon's pre-op plan. Call them if you are struggling to see what they can advise. Can you have the Meal Replacement Protein mixes? I had those the prior to my surgery. Surprisingly they were quite filling. They came in a variety of flavors and types and all I had to do was mix in warm or cold Water. Hang in there, we know you can do it!

    Should I?

If you really must weigh yourself (you don't need to weigh daily, once a week or every two should be enough now for you) they might have a work out room with a scale in it. If it is food you want to weigh, there are online charts that give you an estimate of a serving ("~3oz serving of chicken breast is ~ the size of a pack of playing cards", "15 grapes ~ the size of an incandescent light bulb") etc.. You should have a pretty good idea of the serving sizes by now to estimate while on vacation. Have a great time and make sure you pack an incandescent light bulb, pack of playing cards, etc.....

Genepro - too good to be true?

Before that, I wonder if they created they perpetual motion machine that never lost energy due to friction.

    First NSV

It stands for "Non scale Victory". Those are things that happen due to the weight loss that you can't measure on a scale. There are 1000's of them, such as: being able to fly in an airplane without using a seatbelt extender, having the strength and stamina to climb a small mountain, no longer having a medical condition or significantly lessened (such as sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure), clothes that you could not wear because they were too tight are now too loose, you now like having your picture taken or looking into mirrors, etc.

    Post surgery Q - recovery

If you could possibly wait until Monday, that would probably be better. Is there any work you could do from home over the weekend?

    So emotional!

Mention to him that eating fast foods, Snacks or foods you really crave, but can not have, in front of you right now is difficult while you are going through the post WLS diet phases. Perhaps you mentioning those foods to him made him hungry for them and that is why he bought it? As far as eating in front of you, he was just eating his food and did not think of how that might affect you. You know him, I do not.

    What's your favourite...

There is also the smell of the surf.
  18. This post was perfect on so many levels. With me, I'm bound to react more with the people who don't 'get it' as opposed to the people who just do. If someone who 'gets it' says "OMG I had the worst night! I drank a whole bottle of wine!" I have a tendency to be a bit more lenient, because I know they will get their shiat together again. The ones that don't 'get it' can't seem to get their shiat together, make the same mistakes over an over again, and get defensive and aggressive when called out on their foolishness. They only respond to coddling and enabling. By the way, I'm the fool who drank a whole bottle of wine in one evening. I'm also almost 2 years out and below goal. But I'm also not going to get defensive when someone tells me it was stupid. I know it was, and I paid dearly for it But you owned this alcohol consumption indiscretion, you didn't "whine" about it.
  19. That's definitely been my motto around here lately!! Do what you want, get what you get. If it works for you -- AWESOME! If it doesn't, choose to change it or don't. Not my circus, not my monkeys. Oh, and you forgot the popcorn. ...and straws. We can not forget about the straws! (Not that they are dangerous, but they make for an "interesting" read)

    My work here is done

All we need to add are people who at one week post surgery: Ate corn on the cob. Drank beer. Ate potato salad, macaroni salad and coleslaw. Then we can have a virtual barbecue of what not to eat at one week post WLS.
  21. It was a very informative article. Thank you for posting this.
  22. Oh good! Hungover AND popcorn! Good for you!Yeah, good for me. I'm 28.. I choose to live my life. OH WOW I've had popcorn and a few drinks.. Don't come for me.Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was on your side!! What did I miss? LMFAO don't. Just don't. I woke up clearly on the wrong side of the bed, and the poster before you was being sarcastic.. And I thought you were doing the same.
