4MRB4PHOTO replied to sailaway's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to increase your Fluid intake. You may be becoming a little dehydrated.u If symptoms continue, call your surgeon's office for advice. Keep up the great work, stalls are normal. -

@@LipstickLady After 3 years and almost 7,000 posts, it is a shame that you were beaten down to feel this way. Your caring, tough love, humor, compassion, experience and knowledge, will be missed if you leave. I have learned from your writings and enjoyed your wit and humor many, many times. Haters will hate. Just don't let them bring you down. I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future. -

This is why I like (most) men better than (most) women. They look at what's presented to them without adding a whole lot of interpretation and emotional connection. You gotta take words on an internet forum at face value instead of reading into every word spoken as a direct hit. Sigh. Staying true to myself is stepping away. Eventually these boards may revolve back into being a place where one can just be oneself but for now? Not so much. You can come sell me shoes anytime. Do you prefer a traditional pump or one with a tongue and laces? They do come in 50 shades of grey. Maybe your husband can take you out "shoe shopping" later. -
Magic Bullet to Puree and Has anyone brought thru TSA checkpoints
4MRB4PHOTO replied to trekker954's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Go to the TSA website to verify if you can bring it on. Maybe you can pack it in your checked luggage if you aren't worried about damage. If you can bring it on the flight, do not mention that you have a "Magic Bullet " in your baggage to the TSA personnel. -

It has nothing to do with wanting special permission to be "disrespectful", "uncivil", to "treat people poorly", be "mean" or "condescending". It has EVERYTHING to do with the new trend of having to pussyfoot around these boards knowing that someone is GOING to be offended just because of who you are and those who are behind the scenes TELLING others to be offended because they don't like you. I have no problem talking out a misunderstanding, clarifying a post or apologizing for offending someone if I do so. I do have a problem with adopting a fake warm fuzzy persona because some people are looking to be offended where no offense is there. These boards are evolving into a place to be coddled and cossetted to, instead of place where one can give and receive solid advice. It's a shame. LipstickLady, Stay true to yourself. I have ready many of your posts, they are written respectfully and honest, even sometimes with "tough love" because you are truly concerned. I also read responses when someone was trying to rip you a new a$$, but you responded back to them in a respectful manner. As far as "pussyfoot" goes, is that a birth defect? If so, man, I would love to sell women's shoes. -

Written communication can be easily misinterpreted since there are no vocal inflections or facial expressions. Other times a person's response is as subtle as a sledgehammer so there is no misinterpretation. Some people are practicing in behaviors which could be counter productive to a successful weight loss, weight maintenance or could have an impact on their health. Coddling is not always the best answer but having compassion is important. We all have read about behaviors here (ex. eating foods that are absolutely wrong for that early of a post WLS stage or drinking larger quantities of alcohol extremely early on) that could have dangerous consequences to their health. In those cases sometimes "tough love" gets the point home. If they knowingly are going against what their surgeon or every respectable published article says not to do, perhaps "tough love" is not the answer and some of "Darwin's theory" should be allowed to prevail. A few of those people complain the loudest to replies that don't condone their behaviors. For the ones that are misinformed or were not provided detailed plans (although they can search on the internet for reputable sources of information by healthcare professionals or ask their surgeon's nurses) they are usually more accepting of the feedback. In some cases the person replying is just an a$$hole and all they want to do is be cruel. I guess the block feature can come in handy when dealing with them. -
30-40 percent regain
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe the remark the surgeon said "...30-40 percent of sleeve patients regain their weight." refers to people gaining back some of their weight from their lowest weight, not necessarily meaning they gained all of the weight they lost back. -
I was only making a joke. My PCP isn't like that.

Hang in there, stalls are very common. Maybe journal your food, Water, Protein and exercise to see if you are following your post WLS plan. I asked my doctor about quickly losing 10 pounds of ugly fat, they recommended cutting off my head -I need to find a new doctor.

Anyone else weary of advice from pre op or 3 months out?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am open to "newbie" advice. Even though they may not necessarily have 1st hand experience or long term experience, there still can be a lot of merit to their answers based upon their research or other people they spoke with who are further along post WLS. As with anyone's answers, "veteran" or "newbie" it is still sometimes best to research further (or ask a healthcare professional if necessary). As far as "veterans" are concerned, maybe they have answered many of the same questions numerous times before, such as "are 3 week stalls normal", "I am not getting enough Protein, what are good sources of protein", "how much Water should I drink", etc., so they don't reply as frequently. -
WLS, no regrets. Not doing it sooner, yes.

Sleeve or bypass
4MRB4PHOTO replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I attended a WLS seminar at the hospital, performed extensive research online and placed it in a 3 ring binder, assessed the pros and cons of each WLS surgery and selected what I felt was the best choice for me. When I considered myself fully informed, I discussed this with my surgeon and PCP and left an open mind to their professional opinion. -
I am so glad about that, because if they did, I wold NEVER eat a "chicken nugget" again. (would)

Keep up that positive attitude. It is a shame that those children were not raised better. I hate to imagine what they will be like when they are adults. As Dory said: "Just keep swimming...." and keep up the great work.

Thank you for sharing this great story. I am very happy for the both of you (even though you are Met fans. )

How did the Sleeve improve your health?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to spunkyheather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I no longer have sleep apnea, low-T or type-2 diabetes. My blood pressure is normal and my cholesterol levels (LDL/HDL) improved significantly. These improved were noticeable as I was losing weight, the greatest impact was 6 months to a year after I started the weight loss journey (pre WLS diet + post WLS). One thing I now can do is have much more strength and stamina to be able take long walks and hikes. -
Wild Passionate Screaming "Monkey Love"
4MRB4PHOTO posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry, this post has nothing to do with the topic title. I noticed I was at my 999th post and I wanted this, my 1000th post, to wish everyone a great day and keep up the excellent work you have been doing on your WLS journeys. I didn't want to use this on answering a question such as: "Is it ok to eat plywood only 1 week after bariatric WLS?" "After reading 9,872 articles about post surgery 3 week weight loss stalls, is my stall normal at 21 days?" "Is it ok if I (whatever obvious thing we are not supposed to do, that has been published not to do by respectable sources or explained not to do by our surgeon, nutritionist, bariatric nurse, etc.)? I know the answer is no, but I am hoping that someone with no medical background or any knowledge of my medical condition vindicates my harmful and dangerous actions." Have a wonderful day! PS. Shame on you if you thought this post was going to match the title. -

What happens when a sleever reaches old age and low appetite?
4MRB4PHOTO replied to TracyBar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Interesting point. Also maybe due to evolution the metabolism slows down since it would require us to use less energy resulting in us having to hunt and gather less calories to survive? Also, sadly, very obese people may not live as long due to an earlier death from a comorbidity of obesity. -
Suggestions for midnight movie munchies
