  1. That's great. Congratulations desireat your date is close. What is your pre-op diet?
  2. Got my EGD yesterday 6/23 and checked with office staff to be sure all other records are in. Now the office nurse has to review the chart before insurance approval request is submitted. But the only thing was I got my CPAP yesterday and my doctor likes to wait 30 days after starting up before surgery. Well thats oksy at least i can get a date and have 20 plus days to prepare around the house and at work. Hoping for an August 10th surgery date.
  3. Wow Mrs G's Journey we have similar stories. My mom was also diagnosed with breast CA in 2013. The day the doctor told me i had diabetes and had to take medicine for it just killed me. I couldn't imagine a life with this disease and immediately started preparing for my sleeve. I have an EGD left and they should be able to ask foe insurance approval. I hate takibg that medicine and checking my blood sugar. I am glad to here you had your sleeve and the medicine is gone!! That is alot to look forwaed to. Please tell me more.
  4. Andrew0929 How long after surgery were you taken off medications?
  5. Great information Erato. I think i will try the unflavored genepro. I think you are right the amount of food you can eat now is so much lower than any amount ever used by any diet plan that a little carb can't hurt. My brother had the sleeve and he did tell me he focused on weight loss during the first months and now he eats pretty much all foods just not everyday. In the old days he would eat a whole foot long subway sandwich, last night he ate only 1/4 of the footlong and he was no longer hungry. That is now a normal amount for him. So I do think the amount of food consumed after surgery is a Big part of the weight loss not just the type of food. The important part is getting the protein in and sounds like you have that covered. When do you go off soft foods?
  6. Hi thingirlinsideme, so why no caffeine? I thought it was only no sodas. I am also trying to lower my caffeine intake - but mainly trying to eliminate sodas. This is a challenge - thought I would decrease amount of sodas until I get to zero sodas per day. but I thought tea was okay. Please explain why no caffeine. Guess I wasn't paying attention during that part of nutrition visit. lol I am glad to have someone to talk to about this since caffeine is a daily thing for me.
  7. UT Medicine with Dr Peterson. So far I am very happy with this surgeon and his team. Hope you don't mind me asking but what is you diet now and what protein drink do you drink? Also when are you able to start driving again?
  8. How are you post sleevers doing? Hope all is well. I am still working on my required appointments but have my EGD next week and hoping my approval will be quick.
  9. Has skin been a problem with those loosing 50 to 75 lbs?
  10. Hope everyone is doing well.
  11. I went to one support group in May but missed June. My husband went with me and I felt I couldn't stay too long. I did enjoy talking with others after the presentation by Anna.

Will we have to low carb for ever?

Agree with low carb diet --just means get protein first and this leaves little to know room for the carbs or the "bad stuff". My dietician says there is nothing you won't be able eat but you will need to make the right choices and portions will be much less.
  13. Wow that's awesome. I was thinking about you. Glad to hear its over and one less thing on your list. 14 more days for mine. When you feel up to it let me know how long did they keep you there. have you gone to the support group session? How exciting your getting closer to the big day!
  14. Great thats good to know I have been wondering what that evaluation will be about. I am glad to hear she is nice. I am so glad to meet someone that is going through this too and at the same clinic thats amazing - its a small world.
  15. I agree Dr. Peterson is the best. The endoscopy should be quick. I will be thinking about you so let me know how you are when you get home Be sure you take someone with you or they might cancel. You get moderate sedation so you can't drive yourself home. My endoscopy is 6/23. I have psychology eval. Wednesday with Dr. Raj and after the endoscopy i have everything done they can ask for approval. When are you planning surgery?
  16. Dr. Peterson is my doctor too.
  17. I am having my EGD on 6/23. Hope yours goes well. Let me know how you did. Hoping for surgery this summer here in San Antonio.
  18. I also have been wondering about regrets. I cancelled last year and this year I have diabetes - its the beginning of what I never wanted to have to deal with -- chronic illness. I am scared and worried about the surgery and I think this is probably normal for most people undergoing this change in their body. But having the choice to be healthy or just move down the road to more health issues makes it easy to decide for me. Looking around at family members only confirms what is in store for me if my weight is not controlled. I am a short person 5ft 1in and my ideal weight according to books is around 120 well at 204 I am really stressing my body to the limits. Please contribute more to this thread I find it helpful during this time in the process and surely it will help others.
  19. I was worried last year that this surgery might not be for me and I cancelled the process. But this year I am very interested in getting the surgery but would like to hear from others who had 70 lbs. or less weight to lose - this includes the weight that will be lost pre-surgery. Please share your experience with me.
