Day One of Pre-Op Diet...I think I'd rather just starve.
chopsitter replied to GirlOnFire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it! It does really get better. Sometimes I wish I could eat 1 meal like some, or eat anything for that matter. I just have liquids for 2 weeks, 3 days to go. I am glad now I didn't have an option to eat. More room to cheat/fail for me. This also is getting me ready for lays ahead. This whole process isn't easy. This preop tests us, because we aren't use to it. Just look at the goal, that should be motivation enough for you to just suck it up and move on. This place has been amazing for the advice, feedback, and just the feeling of they got our back. -
I went thru all my appointments and waited for the insurance approval. When I found out about it and set the date, that's when they told me of my 2 week liquid diet.

Swanson broths saved me from boring!

Forgot to add, I use unjury unflavored Protein, so this is my dinner "shake". -
I am wondering if everyone gets the overwhelming advice of Don't Do It from friends before surgery. I'm one week before surgery and am so excited. But I am getting all these friends that have to tell me horror stories of people they know that had this done and it was bad. I'm grateful they are worried, but it's not like I haven't done research. I would so rather not do this and be able to lose weight the traditional way, but that's not how my body works. Who wants to subject themselves to surgery for an " easy " way out?? It's not easy by far, and I know this. I just want friends to be supportive and understanding. Not to try to scare me and try to depress me before surgery.

Advice from outsiders before surgery
chopsitter replied to chopsitter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! It's so nice to hear positive lol. Not that i don't have support, I do. My mom just turned 70 and is waiting to see how it all goes with me before she decides. My hubby and kids have been amazing, as well as most of my friends. Just so close to it all, that it just gets you thinking. But I am remaining confident and stoked. Cannot wait to find the new me! -
Advice from outsiders before surgery
chopsitter replied to chopsitter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks all. I know they mean well, but with it being so close to surgery it's a little of a downer. I have no doubt this is what's best and I'm just so excited. -
I'm on a 2 week liquid diet. Only protein shakes and unsweetened drinks. Starting day 8. Surgery in one week! First few days were rough, but has been alot easier than I thought. Just looking toward the goal.

I'm on day 6 now. I really haven't been ravenous hungry, but have had the usual hunger, and it's been easier than I thought up to now. I wanted to know if anyone has had bloating and some mild pain below belly button. Last night and today, I have had those symptoms, and was wondering if this was just a little bump.

Hi all, I'm getting close! Start my liquid diet tomorrow and surgery on July 2nd. I have found a protein shake I love, now I am looking for the best vitamin that taste good. Does anyone have a favorite and why? Thanks in advance for your input!

Bananas aren't too carby?

I purchased the variety pack from unjury. Love them all. I thought I would order from Celebrate since they have more flavors. Unlike Unjury you mix all with Water ( I use unsweet almond/coconut milk with Unjury). They have quite a bit more carbs than Unjury and only slightly higher Protein. I only tried one from Celebrate, Bananberry. Not horrible, but def not near as good as Unjury. I love the chicken soup from Unjury, will try the chicken soup from Celebrate tonight. Good luck and hope you like it!!

best vitamins/best tasting vitamins
chopsitter replied to chopsitter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for everyones input. I look at my list my surgeon gave me and as much as I would like to take Flinstones, I would have to take so many to get what they recommend. -
I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet. The shakes sometimes take a bit to "choke" down. I have been infusing water with fruits to get the flavor of some sweets. The chicken soup shake from Unjury has been great, nice for something not sweet. Haven't been too hungry. Hoping it doesn't come on all the sudden and BAM hungry! But, going day by day and looking at the positives. Surgery in 12 days Woot!! Good luck all going thru this. We will make it!

Anxiety July Sleevers!
chopsitter replied to sleevedmel2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been waiting on insurance approval and just received approval today! Was supposed to go in on June 18th, but am now scheduled on July 2nd. A little sad but really excited it is happening! -
Hi all. I am new here and just starting my journey. I have tried all sorts of diets, exercise.....I start off great and strong. I am strict, but always start gaining weight while on diet. So I have been thinking about getting the sleeve. I live near the Daytona Beach area in Florida. My doctor wanted me to go to Jacksonville, but drive is so long. So I did my research and found Dr Birkedal in Ormond Beach. My insurance does cover the surgery thank goodness. ! am required to have 4 visits, a psych eval and then surgery!! I start my low carb diet next week and have started walking. Hopefully I can lose a little before surgery. This is so exciting and scary too.

Hi all. Starting my journey.
chopsitter replied to chopsitter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was quite lucky with my insurance. Had to get referral from primary. They only required 3 visits, but my surgeon requires 4. 2nd appt 2 weeks after 1st, 3rd 2 weeks after 2nd, and final one month later. Then surgery if all was good. -
