  1. Happy 36th Birthday snuffy65!

  2. I did something bad today. 1st off my lapband is well over a year old and have been doing great. I never add the band filled because I had enough restriction nad have been losing weight. Now on to my bad thing that I did. I was eating "something I probably shouldn't have" and must have swolled too much at one time and it got stuck. I got thinks stuck before and usually went away in a couple minutes. However this time and didnt go away and I did the unspeakable thing adnd drank a gulp of Water. Well my stomach became really tight and then a sharp pain. Then I felt the food push through my band. I felt fine. However, after a few minutes later I took another bite and now all the sudden I cacn;t feel the restriction. Its like my band is not there any more. Anyone know if this is a sign of slippage? I mean maybe my band wasn;t in the right place to begin with and thats why it felt so tight without any fill? I am just not sure.
  3. Dr. Farhan did my band June of 2008. He did a wonderful job and the after care was great!

Here I am!! I was out for week. At least as far has being online. Sorry I haven't been positng on here. Will be posting here more often for now on. Tonight I am working on catching up the spread sheet. I alos took the month off from my diet and exercise. Me and the wife were both experiencing economic trouble, but now we are both back on track. Since I took the month off I haven't loss any weight. But the good news is I havent't gained any either. Well, lots of work to do. See ya all soon!
  7. wow, your progress is awesome!! what have you been doing? probably everything right, unlike me! keep it up!

  8. Just fYI, there is a general WLS support group that goes on in the tricity area. Only a couple banders but most of them post on obesityhelp.com. I moved to florida weeks after surgery so I didn't get a chance to check it out.

    Recipies and Meal ideas

Greyhoundmom's chili reminded me of the white chicken chili I've been making at home. This is healthy and filling on a cold day. If you never had Ruby Tuesday's chicken chili go try it. It's awesome! Mine doesn't taste like Ruby's but its still good. FYI: This the first time I wrote this recipe down. I created it from scratch. In a pot throw in: 2 - 15oz cans of Great Northern Beans 3 cups of Chicken broth 5 tbls of Light Cream 9 (OPTIONAL!) Bring to a boil..... In a large pan ( I like cooking my veggies and spices first): 1 cup of Chopped Yellow Onions 2 - 4oz cans of Diced Green Chiles (for hotter chili use diced Jalapenos) 4 Tbls of Chili powder 2 Tbls of Cumin 1 Tbls of Red Pepper 2 Tbls of Garlic powder (I usualy use fresh garlic but either is ok) 1 Tbls of Black Pepper Cook until Onions are SLIGHTLY done..... Dump contents of pan into pot..... Lower heat on pot to just under a simmer.... Add 2 - Drained 15.5oz cans of Diced Chicken Breast to pot.... Let cook on very low eat for 3-4 hours until desired consistency. When disired consistency is obtained salt and spice to taste if need be. Again, the light cream is OPTIONAL. I like it either way, but my wife likes the cream in there cause it gives the chili a creamy and almost cheesy taste to it.

    Recipies and Meal ideas

Grill 6 chicken breasts. Slice Chicken into thin slices and let cool. In a large ziploc bag mix: 1/2 c. olive oil 1/3 c. lime juice 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cumin 3 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 c. vinegar 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. pepper 3 tblsp. Chili powder After chicken has cooled off throw in bag and shake up. Keep this bag of chicken in your fridge and pull out to make stuff like: Chicken with wheat tortillas and peppers Add chicken on top of refried Beans and cover with cheese and fesh pico Or just eat chicken plain. Many many other stuff you can make with this and it keeps well in the fridge all week.

    Hurley Hospital

Sorry I haven't responded to these Michigan threads in awhile. I been spending most of my time with fellow june bansters in 2008 June forums. I have been doing great. As you can see, I lost a total of 67 lbs with 47lbs of that coming off after surgery. I would love to comment in depth about Hurley Bariatrics' post-op care but I have only gone in 3 times after my surgery. Once to get post-op check up, once to get a first fill, then only 1 week later to get my band unfilled. I talked with the nutrionists and PA's there and we agreed I am one of those lucky people that don;t need a fill for a long time. Lost all this weight and its still coming off fast (almost too fast). I think just the fact that I have to eat slow and choose my food wisely is enough for me, go figure. Anyways, hope the rest of you are doing great!

How Much Have You Lost So Far?

I need to avarge 2.5lbs loss a week to hit 100lb loss by Christmas. I am averageing 3 lbs a week right now. That would be a crazy goal to hit but its possible.
