Advice you can take or leave, but please listen..
snuffy65 replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Rants & Raves
I agree. I am fairly new here and haven't been banded yet. I've been reading EVERYTHING on these boards. I do however take everything I read that pertains to myself and ask my doctor about them. Like everyone else said in this thread, this should be a "brainstorming" forum, not a "rules to live by" forum. -
DOH! My doctor referred me to Hurley in flint for my Band. I am just going through insurance approval right now. Wish I would have known about this guy. His office is right around the corner from my Doctor's.

Hello, and greeetings here from michigan as well! If you all are from michigan just curious where your geting the surgery done at?
-
Have you looked at your credit reports lately? I know especially when a house and other financial things are involved your credit can get mucked up during that period. If you haven't I would get the reports and make sure everything is ok.

snuffy65 replied to alicatcyclist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I had the same problem. I had two colonoscopies a year aapart and both times I woke up in the middle of them. My doctor assured me that for thiings likes these, including wisdom teeth they give you one dose and that is it. Also, come to find out that my blood pressure dropped so low they brought me out of it. I surgery however they have medicines to regulate blood pressure during surgery. -

Doctors' Personalities--what's best?
snuffy65 replied to jbflorida's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I haven't been banded yet. However I would go with the more strict one. From what I read and the from the support groups I went to . If you can't put the effort in for pre op/ post op procedures you might not want to be banded at all. At least this is what my doctor told me when I went. And he ain't even strict. -
lol a vegan that eats seafood and eggs, interesting. I think wth certain fish you will have a easy time with protein. If not, maybe pinto Beans?

I have a 20% co pay andyes you have to pay for it up front. Although my surgeon is letting me pay in 4 installments. 20% of the $15,500.00 he charges will give me a bill of 3,100 dollars. I am guessing with 10% copay you will need to come up with $1000-$1,700. Not sure if the surgeon u go to will let you make payments instead of up front though.

I also am tortilla and rice addict. I understand the benefits of staying away from both. But I guess IF I am very hard pressed to eat tortilla my chicken tortilla soup would be the best thing.

Ok here's the situation. I will probably be banded some time in late april. By june I will have moved to Orlando. I currently have BCBS of michigana nd they are covering my Lap band procedure. I have two questions: 1. Does anyone know a good Fill doctor or baratrics center in or near Orlando. 2. Does insurances like BCBS that cover the surgery also cover fill visits?
-
Depends on your situation. Are you looking to self pay or try to have the insurance to pay for it? If the insurance is going to pay, whats your BMI? If you meet all the criteria I would go to your regular doctor and have him advise you. If your self pay I would contct a baratrics center near you.

Liver Shrinking? Vent...kinda!?
snuffy65 replied to WyominGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in to have a CT scan done and they said that I have a "Fatty Liver". When i went to my doctor he said I had a high tryclerides leve. He then went on to give me a precrition strength Omega 3 pill and told me to staty away from sweets. The low carb intake and omega-3 will help with the "Fatty" liver. Hope that helps. -
I'm am inda in the same boat. I live in michigan and have bcbs of michigan. But will be moving to Florida after my surgery. This si why I am trying to rush into it.:smile2:

also, anyone check the trials out? You may get banded for free?!?!?
-
Let's just hope Microsoft isn't developing the software.

Bay City, Michigan here. Moving to Florida very soon. Hopefully AFTER I get the surgery.

Well, I talked to my doctor again and told him I wasn't able to go to surgery again. He asked why and I told him insufficient records. He then looked at my charts and showed me the note he wrote 7 months ago and all the weight in on my "vitals" chart.' I noticed the "vitals" chart was on red paper. So I called the baratrics center she said they didn't get that note in my records nor the "vitals" chart. I am guessing my Dr didn't fax it cause it wouldn't turn out since it was on red paper. So I called back my doctor and they are sending the chart with the obesity/diet/excerise note, sending the "vitals" chart, and going to write a letter confirming that we saw each other for 6 months for the diet and exercise regiment. I talked with the baratrics and they assured me that this will be enough. I hope it is.

Anyone else having difficulty getting motivated to exercise?
snuffy65 replied to regnur617's topic in Fitness & Exercise
TV. Thats all I wanted to do when I got home. I watch the daily show and the cobert report and figured why not do something while I am watching. So i went out and got a treadmill. I walk 3mph during the two shows, so thats 3 miles of walking everyday and I didn't have to change anything in my schedule. PS: It don't have to be a treadmill. It can be anything from a bike to just lifting hand weights the whole time. After awhile you will start looking forward to watching TV other then just to catch your shows. -
I think keeping your target heart is more important for getting "exercise". But if your trying to "tone" your self you will need to give your muscles more and more challenges as you go.

Poll: How much do you exercise?
snuffy65 replied to Anyalee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't been banded yet and do not exercise like I use to. However my exercise I use to do and plan on taking it back up after the surgery involes two of my favorite things to do. Punching things and watching TV. Thats right, every weekday I would come home from work and watch TV for 60 minutes (usually Daily Show and Cobert Report). Of course I would be walking 3mph on my treadmill in front of the TV. Thats 3 miles of walking at a decent pace every day and I got my daily dose of laughs! Every other day after walking I would go into my computer room where I have my Slam Man punching bag. I do a 30 minute cardio workout with it. Too fun!:whoo:
