    AP Large ??

I'm sure if she pressed him he would say how much. But as for Doctors not saying how much they put in? Maybe thats so patients will tell them how they are eating and what they feel rather then trying to tell the doctor how many cc's they "should" put in. Like in my job. I am a network administrator. And my biggest pet peeve is when someone calls and tells me what they want me to come and do to fix their problem rather then explaining WHAT their problem is and letting me decide (the expert) how to deal with it.

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

Wow, the original post was a topic about how to be green? I thought it was a smear article about Al Gore. And FYI, going green would be even more cost efficient IF we let the market decide rather then oil execs and congressmen. For all the conservatives out there screaming socialism when someone talks about going green, if the Free Market was in effect we couldn't afford NOT to lower energy use.

    Rave for Fair Tax.

I'll be moving to Florida and see there is alot more organizations for the Fair Tax movement. There has been alot of organziing for state fair tax here in Michigan but not sure if it will make the ballot or not. Wondering if anyone else loves, hates, or is curious about this tax proposal. I was skeptical at first. Still not sure if it's perfect but better then what we have now. Here's their main site if your interested! Americans For Fair Taxation: LOL, thanks pippinje!!! Here it is!
  4. *Disclaimer: I am Obese right now but have been skinny for a few years. For people who say its appalling the way the general public treats obese people is wrong. It isn't the commercials on TV, it isn't what people are taught in schools. It's all in the genes. People are drawn and try to surround themselves with healthy people. All those cartoons and stories we were shown and read to as a child always taught us what? To 'not judge a book by its cover". But deep down our basic instincts tell us other wise. Men for instance. MOST men who are in a relationship and are sexually active with their partner, STILL feel compelled to check other women out when they walk by. Now, I know alot of you will say "my man doesn't do that". But that doesn't prove anything. Cause even if your man doesn't check other women out, the point is deep down he wants to and had to make a concious effort not to. Yes, nice, courteous, men will not check other women out when and even when not, out with their partners. Doesn't mean the urge is not there. It's not only men that have issues. Money and power have the same effects on women. When I was skinny, at my job I was just out of college and wasn't making much money. I was skinny but no women would approach me at work. I gained about 50 pounds that year and then got a promotion into upper management position. Even though I was overweight women started to flirt with me. Pinching my butt, acting all silly with me, to the point they were obviously wanting me to ask them out. Am i saying all men based their entire social circle on looks? NO. Am I saying all women base their social circle on power and wealth? NO. However, media, schooling, and other influential parts of our society have developed around our basic instincts. For years we saw movies, TV shows, and commercials where women fell for men in suits and tuxes, or always been quoted saying "I love a man in a uniform". This isn't by accident. Suits and tuxes project wealth/power, where "uniforms" projected power/command. All basic needs for women seeking a family with a man who is healthy and able to provide. Also, all those moves and commercials about men smacking into a pole after staring at a hot women walking by in a bikini or "hot outfit". The hottest outfits out there accentuate the breasts, tight mid section, and hips. All these are important aspects for a man because it shows health and ability to carry their child. I know relationships don't work out this way all the time. Over our basic instincts are layers of social influences that stray us away. However, this almost "subconscious" shift in attitude people have towards you is nothing that should be demonized, but celebrated. The presence of these basic instincts is what keeps pressure on our society to promote health and the longevity of the human race. For billions of years species lived on with one basic premise: "survival of the fittest". We are the first species/social entity to stray from this premise. Think of the attitude changes of people a "reminder" that "survival of the fittest" pertains to us as well.

My weight loss is hurting my sister

Has any of you who said you have problems with your sisters maybe think it was you? I haven't gone through the banding yet, but my sister got an RNY done. She brag about it all the time. Most of the family didn't care but a few deep down did. Finally my other sister told her that she was fed up hearing about it and told her to "tone it down". Reason I say this is cause, yes the family is trying to be supportive so they deal with the up's and doewn's of a post op person, however it does get anoyying after abit. Now I ain't saying the OP is this way or anyone else here in this thread, but you all may want to take a closer look at what your doing instead of just your family. After this outburst, my family talked with the post op sister and told her to "tone it down" and didn't say anything to the disgusted sister. I think you shouldn't talk about it at all with her. give it some time and I am sure she will bring it up on her terms. Remember, it's YOU that is getting skinnier, getting healthier, and improving your life. Let me put it this way. How annoying would it be if a family memeber won the lotto. After winning the lotto they put all the money in a bank and only spent it on themselves, yet everyone in the family had to here how they won the lotto and how they are spending the money ALL THE TIME.
  6. So 7 months ago my doctor talked to me about being severly overweight . My BMI was 42 and now 43. Anways at that time he told me to go on a 1800 calorie diet, gave me a diet book, and told me walking 3 miles once a day, 5 days a week, would be fine. Every month I saw him (though not offically to keep tabs on my diet), and every time he would take my blood pressure and my weight. Dec, he recommended the lap band. Jan, i saw the baratrics doctor and started putting my papers together, getting the psyc eval done etc... My doctors gave the baratrics center my records and I get a call about a week later. They said there is nothing from my doctor about 6 months of dieting. Today I went back to my doctors and he showed me what was recorded the last six months. 6 months ago on the chart he wrote a note saying i was overweight and a diet and excerise regimant was given. Then the rest of the 6 months were only weight and BP numbers. He already wrote a letter to be put in with my papers about how I need the surgery and that I tried dieting. However the lady at the bararics center said it is not enough and need mroe documentation. Anyone else have similar experience. I am not sure if I should press my doctor to document things more? Or push the baratrics lady to send the packet out to the insurance company? Due to my schedule later in the year ,waiting another 6 months will not really work for me. I know already making excuses right? But really, my hands are tied on stuff happening this year. Thanks in advance!

Yes I did, that original post is just as much BS then as it is today. Yes, all news radio and TV still report stories LIKE that.

Realize Band vs. The Lap Band?

On the site they compare the realize band to the lap band. They are complaining less complications and less "do overs". They also claiming higher % of weight loss, but not sure why that would be. You can find it here: Compare The Realize Band System to Lap-Band - REALIZEBand.com

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

It's not the fact I love the guy. I have problems with him too. And again the frustration isn't with likeing Al Gore or not, or if you believe in global warming or not. The frustration is whether i turn the TV to Fox news or MSNBC and when I turn the radio on Shawn Hannity or Air America nothing changes. I have to weed through all the BS stories like this house comparison, or Gore's financials, or Dick Cheney and Haliburton. I have to weed through those only to find out half of the stories ain't true. Then everytime I argue with someone about something important they have to bring up these same stories and have to get by all that crap first just to get to the real issue. Again, its the same on both sides. The other thread you stated yourself eloquently and didn't resort to petty misinterpreted information. If you stayed away from that and kept to the facts I woul be again another listener to the other side. You will find not only me but alot more from "the other side" who will seek your audience rather then flame you, if you stayed away from this rubbish.

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

The fact that you are trying to imply your comparing apples to apples, when in fact it's apples to oranges in your original post. Its been disproven many many times. Its not that you side with conservatives. Its your petty references to misleading stories that conservatives use that lost my respec. I don't play that game. The environmental "wackos" also fight for clean drinking water and fight for regulations against companies that pollute. Pollution that has been documented to cause cancer, birth defects, miscarriages, and other health problems. Environmental wacko's and "green" legislatures try and incorprate everything that is good for this world. These people get stopeed alot of time, get lumped into the global warming aint really happening thing and get booted out and called socialists by the very people you get your ideas from. When you post misleading threads like this you hurt a man that fights for not just global warming but a overall clean planet. And for what? Your stance on global warming? Post your research on the subject, don't try and bring down a man with falsehoods. Go ahead, argue that global warming is not happening and isn't the fault of ours. There's scientific evidence to support both theories. So from a scientific standpoint it could go either way. Here's an arguement that had me thinking really hard on the abortion issue. It probably works well here too. With all the facts on global warming, not one scientist that is against this theory could prove it wrong. So: And if it is would you risk the entire planet? One last comment. I lost even more respec for you after the wacko comment. It just proves that if my views aren't the same as yours we are "wackos". That mighty nice of you. Calling people who believe in something that could save our lives and humanity and might just save our world "wackos" . Oh wait, you just called every religious person who "Wanted to talk to me about Jesus" a wacko.

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

The point I first made was that stories like "Gore said he invented the Internet" are just like what you originally posted about Gore's house and the comment about Gore's financial (which is another topic I won't get into because apparently you just read off right wing headlines). You then quoted the one sentence to asked me what my point was. Problem is you don't. What you originally posted about Gore's house was only on headlines on right wing websites and talk shows because it looks bad IF YOU DON'T RESEARCH IT AND SEE WHAT THE REAL DIFFERENCES OF THE HOUSES ARE. Comparing those two houses would be like saying a family of 8 is not environmentally conscious because they use more energy then the family of 3's vacation home. Problem I have now is I had respect for you in the other threads and thought you would be different then the other right wing fanatics out there. But now I see just because they say they are the "Party of God" you have go and drink their Koolaid. Its so sad too. Good luck with stopping abortions. Never mind the fact that environmentally induced abortions happen often and are NOT the woman's choice but yours!

    Just. Not. Fair.

Here's a comment from Monica Grenfell ( a formal Miss England Judge). She does a pretty good job explaning herself. Heres the article if your interested, although she didn't convince me. A role model for ordinary women? No, Miss England finalist is fat, lazy and a poster girl for ill health | the Daily Mail

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

Well, I was looking at your posts and multiple articles and you can easily put 2 &2 together. Also, I thought with your last you stated that you DO believe global warming and humans at fault. Wish is why I thought it was bull because of your other statements. Sorry my bad. Fine, but its obvious that you let right wing stories that prove to be inconsistent with your message inform you. That's sad. Point to one article I linked to from a "left wing site" or a left wing talking point? This is Gore's full quote: So if Gore meant initiative, the way your considering it. He then would have not only stated that he personally created the Internet but personally cleaned all those factories, personally designed every environmental invention, and single handily taught all teachers how to teach their children. Or you can get your head out of all the right wing websites and stop listening to your local right wing blather and realized that Gore meant he worked in congress to promote and support the creators of the Internet. Which many communications and university leaders have stated themselves at the time. It's sad cause Gore lost alot because he didn't think he had to defend himself on this issue. But he was wrong. There is tons of people blinded by their own party's/ideology's rhetoric. I would never post stupid sound bites like these. Sure, if I was the same as you but a lefty, I could post comment from Dick Cheney when he said "so?" when asked what he thought about the 68% of Americans who are against the war. Of course I could link tons of left wing articles that quote this and you could say "omg! Chaney hates the American people!". But I don't. Because I actually went back and read the whole article and saw he commented that decisions in war cannot be made on the swaying public opinion. I still don't agree with him, but i ain't going to link crap when it's not true. Only people who can't think for themselves do that. Including the 100 spam emails i get from friends and family that read "omg Hillary is trying to kill someone!" or "Bush is tied to 9/11!". Sorry, this should be its own R &R thread. But i just can't stand it when people link or email this kinda of rubbish. Not only cause they are false, but because alot of people believe them. Hell, my own (Democrat for life) mother asked if "I would be comfortable voting for a Muslim because she was thinking about voting for Obama too. I sat there with this look on my face:

    Just. Not. Fair.

That wold put her at about the "healthy range" at that height and weight. As I guy, she looks great. (err, I know she is only 17). However, if she was severly overwieght or obese I might have problem with it. Not because she would not look good enough, but because I think it would send a bad message to other girls. I am sorry, even those I am morbidly obese, I think children should grow up thinking healthy. But again, the girl looks great, glad she had the confidents to go through with it and hope to see pageants more like that over in the U.S.

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

After being the Original Poster to this nice right wing talking point and then this comment above. Following the article posts I can guarantee your not serious at all about your last reply. Don't let Bush fool you. He will be out of the crap hole the first chance he gets. Try getting both sides of the story before you copy/paste right wing propaganda. I suppose your one of those people who went around posting the "Gore said he invented the Internet" story years ago, before actually taking the time to see what he actually said.

When the truth is inconvenient . . .

1st article doesn't prove anything, either side of the argument. 2nd article. I didn't even read. I won't read an article that has a advertisement for a t-shirt that says "I'd Rather be Waterboarding". 3rd article starts: Ya, ONE guy says hold on! If you put the same thinking about this topic as you do abortions, then maybe you would see globle warming as a potential threat we maybe able to control.

Is it okay to be irritated about this?

I didn't tell my family until a 6 months after getting my bachelors. They were pretty pissed. But I had a nice graduation party in high school so didn't want to waste people's time and money. I just don't see what all the hub bub is about graduating. I rather Celebrate after graduating, when I got my high paying job
  24. snuffy65

    Low carb, hi protein

Basically, eating low to no carbs puts your body into a high fat burning mode. This is why atkins got so popular cause your body would burn fat even wtih no exercise. Basically sugars are fast burning and if your not exercising then your body thinks that your body doesn't need to use the energy and goes into fat storage mode. With no carbs your body process the energy slowly and thinks your body needs the energy now and goes into fat burning mode. This is why alot of atikins diet feel they have more energy.
  25. snuffy65

    Wow.

I'm sad to say that I am one of those people. My handwriting is horrible. If I write in cursive it is illegible. If I print, it looks like a 4 year wrote it. Guess thats why I got into computers, hehe.
