Hi, congrats on making that step that will change your life. I am 65 and in August I'll be 1 year out. I am off my insulin and I can walk again without my legs giving out. I have 6 grandkids all under the age of 8. I know my surgery was a blessing and I know yours will be too.

55+ The wonders of VSG

Hey I'lol be 65 on Feb. 1st. I was sleeved 8/5/2015. I'm about 4 months out and have lost 57lbs. Thanksgiving and Christmas were hard but I survived. I exercise an hour a day on a recumbent bike. I have so much energy now and can do so many things I couldn't do before. I can walk anywhere now. Before I could barely walk from my house to the car. It's slow but I'm determined to do it. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 14/16. My only problem is hair loss. I'm taking my biotin. Hope it all doesn't fall out. I am also off my insulin. Amazing. Who says you're too old. I feel like I'm young again. -

Try powdered chocolate Premier mix with 2% milk and blend with ice cubes. It's the best tasting I have found. Try P3 protein packs in refrigerator section. Example( Turkey, cheese, nuts). Adds protein. Good luck. -

I got the gummies. My biotin melts in my mouth. I only swallow my thiamin. I take a b12 shot once a month. The citrical comes in gummies. The one a day comes in gummies. Kind of like eating candy. -
Congrats on your loss. I was sleeved on August 5th. I am 64 years old. I have lost 53 lbs. I feel so much better. I can walk distances again. I ride my recumbent bike an hour a day. Does anybody know a good recipe web sight? I need some ideas on things to eat. Thanks!

I was sleeved last week, Aug.5,2015. I can't believe I did it. I'm still on clear liquids. Go to Dr. Thurs.,Aug. 13th. Hope to move to full liquids then. Lost 20 lbs. pre-op. Lost 2 or 3 since. Doing well. Be better when I get off clear liquids. Oh forgot to say I do not need insulin at this point and down 2 blood pressure pills. It's nice to be on the other side. -

I am 64 and see the Dr. For my last visit Thursday. They will have everything in by then and I pray my insurance approves. I thought I was too old. I'm doing this for health reasons. Will sure be nice if it helps all my health problems but I want to be more mobile too. Just retired and love to travel. Has anyone noticed how far you have to walk in airports? Lol

I had my EGD and my doctor said he stretched my esophagus so if I had a hernia he could go through my esophagus to fix it during surgery. -

joanne keeton replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All these post seem to be from 2014. I'm hoping to have surgery by the end of July or first of August 2015. I live in Morton, Ms About 30 minutes east of Jackson. I have to go to Oxford for my surgery because state insurance only pays in Oxford, Tupelo, and Pascagoula. Hope to hear from some 2015 sleevers. I am also 64 years old. Would also like to hear from people my age. Glad I found you Ms people. -

Chickadee80, I need help with a question. I am pre-op. One month in to my 3 month 1200 calorie. I looks like I may have surgery in early August. We want to go on a trip to South Carolina, about 12 hours by car. Should I go before or after surgery? How long after surgery would it be safe to travel. Thanks for your help. -

I am from central Ms But I have to have it done in Oxford. My state insurance requires a center of excellence. I am One month into my 3 month 1200 calorie diet. My second appointment is June 2. I'm collecting info for insurance approval. I pray my insurance will approve it. Would love to hear from more Mississippians. I'm doing the sleeve. -
Has AIC (Diabetic lowered/got normal nos) totally gone after sleeve surgery ?
joanne keeton replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too am type 2 diabetic. I have seen Dr., nut, exercise specialist, counselor, and am one month into the 3 month 1200 cal. Diet. I have BCBS. I haven't asked about meds. I take a lot. I go back June 2nd. I will have more questions than before. I didn't know what to ask. I have BP, diabetes, degenerative discs in my back and 1 more knee surgery to go. I hope my weight loss will help. I also have stress incontinence, osteoarthritis, but no heart trouble. I'm praying for improvement in all. Good luck on your journeys. This web site has helped me so much. -
I am 64 and going through the 3 month 1,200 calorie diet. I have my second Dr.s appointment June 2. I have had one partial knee replacement and back surgery. I am hoping to have my sleeve surgery before I have the other knee done. My other knee hurts all the way down my leg so I am afraid it's my back. I may have to go see my orthopedic dr. before June 2. I'm trying to ride my recumbent bike. Don't know if I'm helping or hurting. What if I'm not able to exercise? Will that disqualify me?
