This is a wonderful day! I have new hope in Christ, I have new wonderful friends (they would be you! haha) and found out that were I work won't be switching ins co. (we currently have BCBS)! Thank you Lord!! I also found out that a dear friend here at work has "secretly" started her gastric bypass surgery journey. The date hasn't been set for her sx yet but it's ggggggreat knowing we can talk to one another! I had been looking for a seminar in our area and wanted badly to have my sx done at Duke University here in NC because they have the best surgeons! I hadn't had any luck and when I talked to her yesterday she led me straight to a website Duke sponsors and EVERYTHING I need is right there! Ins. codes, seminar information, instructions....it's ALL there! I am signing up for the seminar today! That's where I'll start the ball rolling by signing up the night of the seminar, which will let them know I want to have one of the surgeries. They give me a packet of info to take to my phy and so on. It's all very exciting!! Can anyone tell me how long you have to keep the port? That part scares me. LapBandFan...PRAISE THE LORD for that wonderful report about your Dad and about your friend, JR!!! To all those who gave me encouraging words...God bless you!

I've just stumbled on all this and feel hope for the first time. I am a Christian and I know the Lord desires for me the very best as His Child. I am excited about the prospects of having this done. I am also excited to know you are all here for support, prayer and advice. I want to be there for you as well. I'm just way behind. I can offer prayer though. Did any of you have to go through conseling prior to the surgery? I am calling a place locally today that will help me find a surgeon who does Lap Bands and then I will research his practice, etc. I know I need to know if my ins. co. will pay for it. Is there anything else I need to do prior? Thank you for your instructions and advice in advance! God bless you all on your journey!

I keep reading about people having it done but have not found an explanation yet. What is it and how often do you need to have it done? Thank you!!:rolleyes -
I am sitting here with tears in my eyes because I'm reading what everyone else is writing and thinking this could possibly work for me. This is my first step...finding you. I believe my journey is starting today. I feel hope. I've wanted to be thin all my life...but now I have a little boy (7) I can't play with because I can't get down on the floor. I don't know how I could have been so stupid to let this happen to myself. Can someone tell me what I need to do? I have BCBS. How can I find out what the surgery entails, what the procedure is prior to surgery and how long you have to wait to have it done. Is there counseling, etc. Thank you so much for your kind words and direction in advance.
