    SLEEP STUDY

I had my meeting with my Surgeon on Wednesday and everything looks great as far as requirements so far. However, I was told by the coordinator today that he may want me to complete a sleep study. He mentioned in his notes. I absolutely hate this. I have issues sleeping away from home and out of my own bed. I don't even know how I would be able to go to sleep at all. I am praying that when his "Team" meets about my requirements (Surgeon, Psychiatrist, NP, Nutritionist) this won't be a factor. I was told by each that I passed each step. My question is have anyone had to undergo a sleep study prior to being approved. If I don't do well, will it affect my surgery being approved or will it help my approval? I know I am pre-approved already based on medical conditions (High Blood Pressure, Diabetes & Cholesteral) If any one has any insight, please let me know! Trying not to FREAK out!!! Thanks to All...

    Tired All The Time!

I am also 8 weeks out and energy is "0". Once I get off work, I am exhausted. I try to get some form of exercise done during the day because after I drive home, I can hardly do anything. If I don't have my starbucks, I won't make it during the day. I do need my levels checked as well. My appointment with my pcp is this month so I will find out. I am hearing that it takes a while and I understand that but it makes me feel guilty for sluggish workouts or no workouts. My weight loss has been great though 32 pounds. One day at a time...

    Sandwich Wraps

what dobu use for your wraps? Not ingredients but wraps themselves. I use romaine but want a whole grain or spinach wrap.

    Sandwich Wraps

I have ate bread a couple of times. As everyone said, when I was about 4-weeks post op, I tried it and felt aweful immediately. I waited 3 weeks later and yeah wait a couple weeks later. I'm 7 weeks out and I have tried a wheat roll. Tiny small bites wet with gravy or broth. I ate my vegs and Protein then little bites of moistened bread. Haven't tried toast maybe I will this weekend when I am at home in case there is trouble because I do want some toast. I agree with everyone if something does fit, try again later. Congrats, best of luck and keep us posted!
  6. Gas-X strips are my new BFF... between the protein shakes (I'm a little lactose intolerant) mixed with fresh salads and raw vegs, the gas REALLY gets me!

      ShrinkingPeach

The Gas-x pills have more potency if you are able to swallow them (they are small)

Thanks, Shrinking Peach I will try those Gas-x pills. It is time for me to replenish!!

  7. So happy to step on the scale at my Dr.'s appointment. The norm was for me to decline in the past, lol! I have been relentlessly doing my work and following the plan.

Congrats @@prissyerika, that is the best way to go. You are top priority. It will worry you less and less every day that goes by. I'm 5- 1/2 weeks post op and I notice the looks but I know I'm looking better and I'm feeling healthier so I laugh at people. So proud of you and keep up the GREAT work!

    Time off work for recovery

Ok update. I am 5-weeks post op now... My first response back on May 5th, I was pre-op and I only planned for 2-weeks out after surgery. I have a desk job 75% of the day so I felt 2-weeks would be enough. Based on my PCP high recommendation, I took 4-weeks and BOY did I need it. At two weeks, I would NEVER had been ready to come back. Energy level was still low, still sore, new tummy was still uneasy and still on some pain meds plus starting all Vitamins requirments. Although I felt better than surgery week at 2-weeks post-op, I still needed that additional resting/adjusting time. Just something to think about. If all else, request more than 2 weeks and if you don't need it and feel up to going back after 2-weeks, go fo rit!
  15. Wow, wow, wow!!!! That is amazing...

    50 lbs LOST!

4 months post op today 7/10/15

@@innwtitdtity congrats and I think your weight loss is awesome. I also don't want to lose too fast and would rather go at a steady rate. I have been working out and weight training to keep my muscle tone and still noticing my close much looser. I am happy with my pace so far and so is my surgeon. Celebrate your anniversary, you have come so far!!

Thanks @Smye & ShrinkingPeach... @jane13 I am doing everything right EXCEPT moving enough. I am trying so very hard to step that part up but eating and hydrating, I am hitting my mark.

    3. Smye

      Smye

Well done on hydrating & eating - the moving will get easier (as you mention). I didn't have 'normal' energy until about 2 months out.

      lisaanewme67

THANK YOU Smye, I feel sooo much better with you telling me this. I am taking all of my vitamins, resting when I can after a hectic day at work, kids, commute home but just am wiped OUT and then the guilt that I can't get anything else done. I beat myself up the way I did pre-surgery about doing more moving. NOW I understand and it makes so much more scense.

    Dumping syndrome terrifies me...

I'm almost 5 weeks post-op and the first I experienced was this past Saturday. I felt uncomfortable feeling in my chest, I burped alot also stomach gurgling and my body temperature felt hot. I had some chicken off of the grill and some veggies I believe the chicken may have had some bbq sauce glaze that I didn't realize at the time and/or I may have ate it too fast. However, today, I had my appointment with my surgeon so I grabbed a hard boiled egg and turkey sausage from our cafeteria. I don't know what happened, but after my appointment I had Water (which was 30 minutes after I ate) I started feeling uncomfortable in my chest, hiccups then headache. Next thing I know I'm in the bathroom throwing up my entire Breakfast. Not sure what was in that turkey sausage and hard boiled egg but my tummy didn't like it. Once it was out of my body, I felt great! Nothing severe but I watch for all of the signs from the beginning of my meals.

      Also Smye your smoked chicken...

    3. Smye

      Smye

I sure hope you like them, do let me know what you think. For the smoked chicken - do consider adding 1 Tbsp to the rub, it's sugar, I know, but it's used as a spice and adds roughly 1 g carbs/serving while improving the flavor greatly. Good luck!

    4. lisaanewme67

      lisaanewme67

Add a tbsp of sugar to the rub? If so, ok I will, it is fine. I will definitely post and let you know. I've never been a fan of cauliflower in the past but now that I see how much it can be used for in delicous recipies, I can't wait to add it.
