Hello guys, Sleeved in April of this year and have lost about 66 lbs with 30 more to go. I am interested in plastic surgery - namely a neck lift, tummy tuck and upper eyelid surgery. I would like to hear other guys' experience with plastic surgery following weight loss. Cost, satisfaction with procedures, visible scarring, etc? Any help out there?

Is there no one over 70 who has been sleeved?!
Jb1176 replied to Hevnbound's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Had my sleeve aPril 13, 2015 at age 72. Had to talk my surgeon into it. Comorbid conditions of sleep apnea, high blood pressure, an high cholesterol. SURGERY WAS A SUCCESS. Have lost 72 lbs and am hoping for more. Recovery was a piece of cake. Working on sticking to diet 7 months out. Have not gained but have not lost in last month. Best decision I ever fought for in my life. Now am working on cosmetic surgery. Have had eye lift and next will be chin and lower face lift. -
Yo update a little bit, I have lost a few more pounds since I started this thread and now have lost 72 lbs since surgery April 13 of this year. I saw an occulo plastic surgeon about blepharoplasty and after pictures, field of vision tests, and a consultation the surgery is scheduled for this month. At my last visit about three weeks ago with my Bariatric surgeon I asked about a referral to a facial and neck plastic surgeon. The Bariatric surgeon wasn't opposed to the idea but he felt the plastic surgeon wouldn't consider surgery until at least a year after the sleeve procedure which would mean April of '16. I see him again n February and I'm going to press the issue again. I sure wish I could get. Neck lift and tummy tuck but I do understand that many plastic surgeons will want to postpone surgery until all the weight is off and kept off for a year. I still have 25 pounds I'd like to lose. The weight is coming off very slowly now - only about three or four pounds a month instead of every week. I am frustrated with this slow process. I have a mental vision of where I want to be weight wise and wish I was there yesterday.

Yup. I actually fell in the bathroom from suddenly being light headed. I saw my cardiologist and he thought it was from dehydration. All the other heart tests came out normal. I'm concentrating on getting all my water in now and the problem, although still slightly there, is much better. He did say that getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom frequently causes light headed symptoms especially if dehydration is present.

Proud of your progress. Losing weight is not an easy venture and we, who are traveling this road, understand.

How do I get to the "Plastics Forum"? -
Wow! You are really faithful to your plan. Congratulations on your success. I am interested to know about the tummy tuck - cost, recovery, scar location, etc. I have 30 pounds left to go to reach personal goal but would like a neck lift , tummy tuck and upper eyelid surgery. As a male I wonder if there are other men out there who have sought plastic surgery?

April Sleevers! Where are you at in your Journey?
Jb1176 replied to CandyCrushVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have lost only 3 lbs since the first of August. Weight is VERY SLOW to come off now. I have gone back to one and sometimes two shakes per day to try and restart the weight loss. I developed a flare up of plantar fasciitis two days ago and my daily walks are very painful. I need to rest the foot but I am afraid to ease up on the walking for fear of slowing down the weight loss even more. -

Sleeved 4/13/15. 268lbs at surgery and now 209 lbs. however had lost 28 lbs before surgery. Very slow process. I thought the weight would come off much faster. -

Jb1176 replied to mataz78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Breakfast - 2 scrambled eggs with low fat cheeseand 1/2C fresh fruit. lunch - 4 oz lean Protein from something that had a mother. Tuna, left over hamburger, grilled chicken strips, etc. all weighted on kitchen scale. dinner - 4 oz protein from something that had a mother and 1/2C raw or cooked low carb vegetable. At three months+ out I still can not gave dairy products except low fat cheese like mozarella sticks or something similar. -
Still weigh more than surgery day!

Three months out and yogurt isn't allowed until six months out on my instructions. Wish I could have it but am willing to wait. -
Guess I'd agree with others. Have what you want and take home the extra. Will you have a glass of wine?

I had that problem before surgery and it was a UTI. Antibiotics cleared it up right away.

Update. Finally last week I lost 4.5 lbs after being in a stall for three weeks. I didn't change my eating routine or my exercise routine and if anything cut back my walking by half. My lesson learned is to be patient, keep to the program, and just wait out the stall. This was my second stall but it lasted much longer than the typical three week stall I experienced.

Hi everyone. Sleeved April 13 of this year. I haven't had any complications during this whole process but am in what I believe is a stall in weeks eight and nine. I'm up and down by 4-6 ounces for almost two weeks. Up to then I was losing 3-4 lbs a week? It is frustrating because my eating habits haven't changed and I am walking 21 miles a week. I have a three month checkup July 8 so I hope the stall breaks by then. Don't know what to change to break this stall. Any ideas?

Three months out from surgery and walk 4 miles 7 days a week. I meet to start some strength training but don't know what to do. Guess I need a gym membership and someone to help me set up a program and instruct how to use the equipment. I never exercised in my life before this surgery.

Fruit Snacks and Crackers?!
Jb1176 replied to nicolewilliams's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me no crackers, bread, pasta, wheat thins, or other carbs until 75% of my weight loss is achieved. -
I can eat most any animal protein, legume, cheese and eggs up to 4 ounces per meal. No dairy (yogurt, milk, almond milk, soy milk, sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, etc) until the six month mark. At five weeks 1/2C vegetables are added but no corn, peas, or potatoes. At six weeks 1/2C of fruit was added once a day but not to be consumed at the same meal as the vegetables. I can substitute another serving of 1/2C vegetables for the fruit if I wish but not the reverse. Have to take one Co-Q 10 and 12 grams of fiber supplements per day plus a Bariatric vitamin three times a day. 64 oz of water of which at least 32 ounces is plain water with no added flavorings. Sugar free Popsicles, sugar free jello are permitted. Absolutely no snacking on anything between meals and no caffeine or alcohol. Some limited carbs are added in when I reach 75% of my weight loss. However I was advised to try not to start back on carbs if I can.

Get my vitamins from my Bariatric clinic. Told to take 3 a day. Blood draw every three months and they examine the results closely. They know right off the bat if you aren't taking them by the results of the blood test. I assume vitamins from the drug store would work as well but I wouldn't have any idea how many to take to equal what the Clinic wants me to have. A month supply is $25.

I think this is excellent advice. I've had two stalls since surgery 4/13 - at week three and week 10. Both lasted about 10 days. I just stayed with the program and followed the advice above. The weight eventually started coming off again.

Getting enough fiber/Constipation
Jb1176 replied to quiltermom65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a terrible time finding the right amount of fiber to deal with constipation. The directions from the surgeon's office was 25 grams of Benifiber per day. That gave me horrible diarrhea. They then reduced the amount of Benifiber to 12 grams a day. Diarrhea continued. I finally decided Benifiber was the problem and switched to gummy fiber with 4 grams of fiber per day. The problems continued. I stopped all fiber supplements and tried one probiotic pearl a day and that seems to be working fine. Everyone's systems react differently to supplements. I do keep Miralax handy in case I have a problem but Miralax takes 2-3 days to work for me.
