    Cruise

Hi everyone, Got back from the cruise! I am 2 1/2 month post op. Let me start with the abundance of food was not the problem at all. I was never hungry. Nor did it bother me seeing others EAT!!! Since I was afraid of dumping or not tolerating the food I was basically eating tuna salad, cheeses, Soups, crackers, and my Premier Protein shake. Whenever my family and I dined in their specialty restaurants I would order Soup. Like I said I do hav issues chewing and tolerance of the food. I went thru NCL and I brought in 2 cases of Water and a case of my liquid Protein Shake. Always got off with my portable cooler that had water, tuna kits, shakes, and a banana. And lost 2 pounds!!! Hope this helps for those of u cruising so soon after surgery.
  2. Take care of yourself after surgery. Do exactly what your doctor and nutritionist says. And you will be good to go!!!! Good luck to you on your WLS surgery!

    Miralax

Hi guys, I had gastric bypass a month ago. I am very constipated. I hate taking milk of magnesia, it gives me the runs. Has anyone tried Miralax? Does it give you cramps? Thanks!

Thank you Della!!! Did the Miralax give you cramps? Is the stool softener a gel cap?
  6. Hi Everyone, I am 3 weeks post op. As of late I have a metallic taste in my mouth. It's not all day but when I get it stays around for a while. Has anyone experienced this?
  7. Hi everyone! Today I started Purée Phase. I was excited this morning, but it's so hard to eat slowing. My nurse told me to get a baby spoon that that would help me with bite size! I had stage 2 baby food with seasoning and my pouch hurts a little. A friend told me its because I ate it too fast! Don't know how much slower I am going to eat. Had cottage cheese for Breakfast and super hard to chew it to applesauce texture. How should I proceed! Thanks

    Learning how to eat slowly!

It is my understanding that we have to chew our food well for ever!
  9. Hi, I just had the BP done on March 31. I am finding it very hard to drink 64 oz of liquid. I am 5 days PostOp and today I reached 50 oz! I know I am mildly dehydrated. It has been very difficult even to eat every 3 hours as my doctor has instructed. So far I am tolerating the food. Does one start on 2 oz and progress to 4 oz? I am confused and haven't been able to speak with the nutritionist. While the Doctor is excellent I think very little of the staff. Cubans have a saying " new broom sweeps well". In other words has a client contemplating the surgery I thought I would have the support from the staff because they were selling themselves very well. I guess not everything that shines is gold. I feel very weak and second guessing myself on the surgery! I knew coming in it would be hard but not this difficult. Sorry for venting out!!!!

    Polyp found in Upper GI

Hi, yes i had a polyp in the fundus area of the stomach. It was found after my upper GI was done. A week later had an Endoscopy and polyp was removed. Also, had a Hiatal Hernia which was repaired during the bypass surgery. Don't worry too much about it. You will find a lot of people have them. Good luck to you!

  20. Hi everyone, today I had 1 week follow up. Down 8 pounds total 18 pounds I am still bloated was hoping by now it would have gone down. Lots of gasses and walking on my treadmill to free the gases. My doctor told me I should have been at 100 oz of water by now and of course I am not. Please!!!! It's not as easy as they say. Will take day by day. Little by little trying to improve on my liquids and food. Hope everyone is having a great day!
  21. Thank you for your words!
  22. My doctor also has me on soft food two weeks post op. Can't wait. The blended soups are horrible for me. I am supposed to have 5 meals but can only do 4! I really do not like the protein liquid drinks!!! I am having a hard time time drinking the Isopure protein liquid drinks! I am praying as I start feeling better I can re-try them!
