Calories at 3 weeks
BackSpin81 replied to Casey235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 2 week follow up, which happened in my third week, I was told to consume 700-1000 calories. I told my doc I wasn't getting anything near that. I average about 500-650 calories. He told that he wasn't too worried but to focus on getting between 60-80 grams of Protein and my Water requirement. I suggest asking your surgeon or nutritionist for what is best for you. -
I completed my first Body Pump class tonight!! I loved it and plan to go back again on Wednesday!

Has any one got a step counter
BackSpin81 replied to brinag's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought the Jawbone UP and like it. It tracks my steps and sleep. It also syncs with My Fitness to collect my food info. And MFP collects activity from Jawbone. I considered getting the FitBit but am cheap! Lol. My Jawbone UP was only 44.99 and fits anywhere on my clothes. You can also buy a watch band and wear it on your wrist. Oh! And it gives you tips on your progress. -
Good Morning, I'm at 266.5 today ????

I was fine. I slept on my side the same day I had surgery. Pain is individual. I was totally fine. -
15 POUNDS DOWN IN FIRST MONTH?
BackSpin81 replied to Butterfly85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! We all lose at different rates. We should never compare our weight-loss to someone else's. That can be depressing. Instead be encouraged by any weight you have lost so far. 15lbs is fantastic! Congrats -

Real Food, Real Weightloss, Still Delicious
BackSpin81 replied to Smye's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
OK! I made the coconut chicken tenders recipe!! DE-LICIOUS!! I wish I had made one of your dipping sauces, instead I used half a tablespoon of regular honey barbecue sauce. This was a super easy, super quick, super tasty way to cook chicken! Thanks again! Oh and as for your cookbook or cooking blog, I would subscribe as well! I like @@jess9395's title suggestions. To add to the blog title, after it is a HUGE success and adapted to a book, I like "Real food for Life: Delicious Healthy Eating after Weighgt-Loss Surgery" -

Not only are your pants loose and baggy, so are your underwear! -
I love this thread!! Some my goals include: •Sitting comfortably in all planes •Wearing a swimsuit without a skirted bottom to hide my thighs •Wear a sleeveless top/ dress without a shrug •To have visible muscles in my arms •Go zip lining in Vegas. •Feel comfortable doing anything I want do and not worrying about weight limits and what others (myself) are thinking of me!

Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!
BackSpin81 replied to Fatdiva14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worry about this too. I reached week 4 this passed Monday. I have noticed that I can actually drink and not just sip. I was scared that I too had stretched my sleeve. But apparently not. I ate 3 small turkey meatballs, cutting them down into tinier (barely) chews that night and felt my usual sharp stomach pain I used to feel when I had drank too quickly. So that pain was a clear indicator that my sleeve is fully intact. But i am mindful of how I should drink opposed to how I can drink. Another example, after i left the rec center the other night I was so thirsty. I had left my water bottle in the car. When I got to it, the thirst made me want to chug the water down. Two consistent drinks made me realize that i can't do that. The sharp pains in my stomach hit me again! -
Who all did you tell?
BackSpin81 replied to faxxy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yup, that's exactly why I limited the amount of people I told. This my journey, this is my life. The choices that I make are for me to understand, figure out, and work through. The last thing I need is someone assuming that having weight loss surgery was easy and my weight would magically fall off. Pffft! I may add to my list of others I may tell (friends, family, etc). But as of right now I'm more focused on me and doing the right thing. -
Who all did you tell?
BackSpin81 replied to faxxy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told supervisor so that I request FMLA and short term disability through HR, my mom and dad because they donated the $4000 I was missing to pay for the surgery, my dad told his wife (that pissed me off!), one close friend, 1 coworker, my landlord, and a slew of random strangers just for the heck of it. (If it comes up I disclose it.) I chose not to tell anyone else because I was not sure of how successful I'll be with my weightloss. Plus I don't want anyone offering me any advice about things they don't know/understand, or watching my eating habits for ME. -
I was sleeved by Dr. Brown on 3/30/15. Dr. Brown, the anaesthesiologist, and nursing staff were wonderful. I left the hospital with minimal pain. My 2 week post op appointment is scheduled on 4/15/15. When are you scheduled?Congrats!!! I have my one year follow up today! I have had a wonderful experience, lost 85 lbs and, zero complications and couldn't have been more pleased with my surgeon and surgery. Thanks for your response! I had just joined this site when I responded to your not realizing the date you had submitted it! Lol. But thank you! And congrats to you too! I'm so happy to hear that you are doing well still, especially after a full year. Keep it up!

Overnight bag? What did you pack?
BackSpin81 replied to MissLiss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I packed: 1 long sleeved T-shirt 1 short sleeved T-shirt 1 pair of sweats 1 Samsung Tablet 1 journal 1 book 1 hygiene bag What did I actually use? Hygiene products, the short sleeved T, and the sweats. I literally slept off and on after surgery. Never turned the TV or tablet on. Slept between people coming in and out of the room, and "pee-time." I was there over night and discharged early the next afternoon. -
“Biggest Loser” Versus Bariatric Surgery: New Research from Dr. Huizenga
BackSpin81 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I'm still pretty new post surgery (week 4) and used to be an avid Biggest Loser fan many years ago when it first started. After watching the show and going through my own weight loss battles, I realized the differences between the contestants and me. Some include TIME (away from work, home, hours in the gym, etc.), having personal trainers, personal chefs, and lastly being on television. I'm not losing weight to win money. I'm losing weight to save my life! And that is all the motivation I need. Plus, the new tools that I continue to learn are set to keep me motivated and keep me fit for life! -
Food that taste bad?!
BackSpin81 replied to Elizabethe Glickel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for my 2 week follow up (in my third week) last week and I complained to my surgeon about the same thing. Before I could continue on, he explained to me why I may be thirstier more often, feel as if I have bad breath, feel like brushing my teeth all the time, and why food is either gross or extremely too sweet. He explained that it is ketosis. That my body was breaking down fat and ketones are acting in place of glucose. He told me that this was great because my body was breaking down fat!
