  3. Good morning! I'm searching through the pages in this thread losing my mind trying to find yhe recipe for noodless lasagna. Didn't we talk about that? Or was that on another thread? I could have sworn it was here. Either way, do you have a recipe for this? I have found recipes on Pinterest but would love your take on it.

    4th of July Challenge

I'm in!! I missed my goal in the last challenge by 2 lbs! But I did reach my initial goal and surpassed it. My goal this time is 240. I CAN lose 12 lbs between now and 7/4.

    Help please!

Yup! I blew it in week 2 post op. The liquids were getting on my nerves, I was sad, crying everyday so I had a tablespoon of peanut butter even though I wasn't supposed to yet. But the risk of busting my staples or having a leak made me get it together. I went through too much with this surgery and paid to much money to blow it. So you're not alone. Just be careful for the reasons already mentioned.

    NSV shout outs

I tried on a pair of size 16 jeans. They were stretch fit, but guess what... THEY FIT!!!! I'm emotional. I still have a long way to go, but off to a good start!
  10. Nope. I was only allowed clear liquid.

Being a Big Guy and Dating

I loooove Meetup! I find different groups whenever I move to a different state! I've even made a few best friends via Meetup.
  12. Yes! I lost about 10 lbs. And my liquid diet was for 3 days!

Being a Big Guy and Dating

So here's my 2 cents, if you're ready to date go for it!! I met someone online the week prior to surgery, then went out on a first "date" during my second week post-op. It was not a traditional first date (dinner, drinks, etc.) of course and he knew that I had had surgery on my stomach and wouldn't be able to go out to eat or drink but wanted to hang out anyway. So we did! I carried my Water bottle and we went for a walk. I definitely say, go be social!! Go out, go meet people, or get online!! Good Luck!
  14. I'm watching "600 Pound Mom" on TLC and unsure of how to feel. The surgeon refused to do bypass surgery on the subject after she had gained 100+ during her pre-op. Then she gained an additional 16 lbs after she was approved for surgery. I want her to live but clearly there is much going on with this woman. I don't know.

      Djmohr

I was watching that before I fell asleep last night and recorded it. Honestly I don't even understand how you could gain over 10 lbs in 3 months. It was shocking to me. Now I just turned it on to see how it ends.

@Djmohr ok... have you watched the end yet? If not, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER. I didn't want to spoil it for you if you hadn't watched it yet. Even though I knew she was in trouble from the very start, I was devastated when it said that she had died. I felt terrible for how her life ended, her children, etc. Poor thing. And shame on those doctor's for going against their better judgement. I know that they were trying to help her save her life, but you still have to follow your gut and intuition. Very sad.

    Memorial Day Challenge!

Good Morning, I'm at 256 today
  16. Just some random thoughts... So I'm excited and stressed... with excitement! After searching for months I was finally offered a new position in my home state, Massachusetts! My last day at my job will be next Wednesday on 5/20/2015 and then I hit the road shortly after. I'm still not sure of which will be leaving but I at least want to be in Boston by Memorial Day. In my opinion, there is no point in prolonging my time in Colorado! I can't wait to get back to the East Coast and to city life again! But I'll have to find a Bariatric support group and follow-up doctor in the area (which should not be difficult at all). So if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. On another note, I went to my 6 week post follow-up appointment today. Apparently I'm on target and cleared to eat all foods! Yaaay... kinda. Lol. I have been able to get all of my Water and Protein in but hardly any fruits and veggies. She suggested that I eat more often and change my protein portion sizes when I have a meal. Hmm. My response back was that I may not fulfill my protein requirement if I lower my protein (meat) intake. I asked the dietitian about this and she assured me that I'll be able to eat more as time goes on and suggested finding protein in things other than meat. But I don't know. It's easier for me to have a 3 oz piece of salmon or chicken at 20+ grams of protein at lunch or dinner opposed to have less an eating more throughout the day. I'll consider it, but still on the fence. Next, I went on a roadtrip last weekend. It was my way of seeing this region of the country for the first/last time ever. I have no plans to come back and visit this area again, so I figured I'd drive, hang out, and take photos of everything I saw. I went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, The Four Corners, and the Grand Canyon (FINALLY!!) and it was gorgeous! I took awesome photos, got plenty of rest, talked to strangers and stayed at 2 very different but cool hotels. So, yeah. it was the perfect way to say goodbye. Colorado, its been.... interesting,
  17. Lol, thank you! I decided to be happy this year! You only get 1 life, so we all should live it being well and doing what we want. I've been unhappy for far too long and I'm tired of it.

    OMG! Bought to go 5K'n!

I agree with you. I've never been a long distance runner. I could always do quick short bursts (base to base) but running can be a new goal. I've heard wonderful things about Couch to 5K. Worth checking out. I've even bought a bike that I haven't ridden. So many ways to get and stay fit! 5Ks are an excellent start. I feel inspired!

    Surgery on 05/14/2015

I am a little nervous but very excited! I have been wanting to have this done for the past 5 years but insurance did not cover it.My insurance didn't cover it either. I was self pay which sucks. I took out a medical loan and was only approved for $8433 which left me with about $2000 to pay on my own. Of course debt sucks but it was a matter of saving my life. And I'm so glad I did it! The nerves will go away. I was only nervous the morning of surgery. My mom had come to town to stay with me for the week. As I was being prepped, meeting my nurses, saw my surgeon, and my anesthesiologist I started to worry. I told my mom that if I didn't come out of it alive that I loved her and to tell my dad the same. Dramatic? Yes I know. But I got a big case of the "what ifs" just before being wheeled into the operating room. And before I knew it, the surgery was over! I was told that it went well and that was it! I stayed in the hospital that night and was midday the very next day . What are you most nervous about?
