African American vsgers!
BackSpin81 replied to theshrinkingdutchess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks ladies for responding. I may be ok. But still unsure if my hair is shedding or falling. I'll find out when I wash my hair again. I'm currently on a volunteer mission in Lima, Peru and can't wait to get home to wash my poor, poor hair. I arrived here with braids but took them out after a week in a half. Sadly, Lima does not have hair products for us and I only carried a travel sheen and small plastic vial of coconut oil from the states. I had planned on rocking the braids for a bit longer, but nope. My head wasn't having it. I've had to rely on a makeshift "leave - in" and stretching my coconut oil THIN! I can't wait to get back to the states on Saturday!!! Uh, my poor hair! Lol -

Try going back to your pre-op diet. I, like many others was on clear liquid diet and lost weight before surgery. Then full liquids, etc. -
You know you lost weight when

My aunt said the same mess on the 4th. To add insult to injury, she also added, "Now you can find a husband." WTF?! -
Though I'm still on my weightloss journey, I am no longer worried that I'm "too big" or "too heavy" for anything I want to do! This is a huge deal for me. At times I've felt limited or denied to do certain things because of my weight. I have let crowded elevators go and waited for the next one. I've stood up on trains because I didn't want others passengers to feel squished in their seats. But nope! No more! I don't feel that way anymore! I'm slowly but surely coming back to feeling "normal" and have dropped my fear of being "the biggest" person in the room! In my mind, in about 30 more pounds, I will feel invincible! Lol

So... I weighed myself this morning. I've been trying to break my habit of weighing myself everyday. I've gotten down to only 3 times this week, so it's progress. But anyway, drumroll please! I weighed in at 239!!! Yaaaaaaay! I've made goal but also a weight I haven't seen in forever! I'm so excited! WHEN I lose 14 more pounds I'll be at my freshman weight. I am so happy and excited about this journey. It is as if I have started a new chapter in my life or have hit "reset" on my current one! Yaaaaaaay!

I literally have one of the above, unless we're counting the furry onion in the bottom of the fridge! Then that would make 2. Lol. I have the carrots for sure. I'll work on getting the others. Take your time! I semi-satisfied my craving by making a turkey and red bean chili the other day. I still have a few servings left. -

Hey @@Smye the cauliflower crust went well the first time, but the second time not as well. The difference between the first and second time was that I tried to get fancy and add toppings to the crust. I should have baked the cauliflower longer, before adding the toppings. So I've learned. Next question, do you have a meatball recipe? I love ground turkey and am craving meatballs. I saw a few recipes on Pintrest but was wondering if you had a take on it. Thanks -
This one side effect I was most afraid of!! Some call them "Grandma arm," some call them "Bye, bye arm." I have compared myself to a flying squirrel or a bat because, baby... I have grown wings! I have never had the most toned arms but they have been solid. Now, they are just hanging and blowing in the wind! I love the my weight loss journey so far but I am not loving my arms and thighs right now. HELP!!! Somebody fix it. [emoji17]

Ugh I'm messing up already

Refried beans are amazing! Unsweetened apple sauce, fat free/sugar free pudding, tuna in water in the can or pouch, salmon in a can/pouch, chicken salad, Greek yogurt, Baby Bel cheese reg or light, Laughing cow cheese, baby food, wet scrambled egg whites are things that I lived on in week 3 through 5. -

My natural hair ladies, I need your help! So I'm in or very close to month 3 post surgery and somewhat dreading it. This is the month that people seem to have noticed hair shed and loss. I'm vigilant and understand that I am not super woman and immune to what will be but I can't tell. I'm a natural with a big head of thick - ish hair. And I can't tell the difference between post surgery shed or my normal hair shedding. Naturalistas, could you tell a difference? -
244.5 today. Yaaaay! Have a great week everyone! ????

I didn't get out of work in time to attend. I really wish there was one on Saturday or Sunday. That would be perfect. If I were more knowledgeable about WLS, beyond my own experience, I'd start a group of my own. Just a sit down where we could discuss the ups, downs, tips, exercise, recipes, scale and non scale topics. Maybe... -
I'm was never a fan of skinny jeans or pants but just for the heck of it, I grabbed 3 pairs to try on to find my size. I grabbed a 20, 18, and a 16 to see how far off I am. The 20 was huge and laughable... I put on the 18 without unzipping and unbuttoning them... I tried on the 16 and they fit comfortably! I couldn't believe it! The cherry on top was fitting into an XL sweater and button down! This journey has given me my confidence back!!

@@Smye I feel inspired!! Since moving back home to Boston I've been having the worst cravings to go visit my old food haunts. To settle it I'm using your recipe and making pizza today! Hopefully that'll solve it. -
I want pizza so bad!! I hope the bari recipe kills the caving.
