Registered Nurse for 32 years -
I'll keep you in my prayers as well! I just got the call with my check in time- 7:15am. Surgery is at 10:15. You mentioned you work 12 hours- what type of work do you do? I'm a nurse. I work an 8 hour evening shift now and when I return, I'll be on 12 shifts when I return. I will be off 4 weeks, which will be good to help me get in a routine with exercise and my meals.

Pre op diet has been tolerable. I have had a few days when I wanted to eat my arm off!! Lol. I think it is easier now that it's closer to Tuesday, what about you? I have a wedding to go to tomorrow. Fortunately it's in town so I can come home and have a shake while everyone is eating their meal and having cake. I'll go back after for the rest of the reception. It's hard to believe it's finally time! The 6 months of preop supervised diet seemed like it started a lifetime ago. I'm so ready!!

Glad to hear everyone is progressing well both pre and post! I'm so sad to hear Priscillapresley that your preop visit was focused on all the negatives!! Keep your chin up and dwell in the positive!! That is where your body will gravitate to! My clinic has been so positive and whenever I have felt the least bit frustrated, they are reminding of the positives. My surgery is on the 25th and I'm on my second week of the gourmet liquid diet! ????. Keeping everyone in my prayers as we are starting our new lives!! -
I ran in to my surgeon as I was coming in to work. I told him I was pretty tired... He said I probably need to drink more water. I told him I'll need a bladder catheter if I drink much more!! Lol

Day 2 of 14 on preop liquid diet. I find I'm really tired. I work 3-11 shift as a nurse so I have to make sure a space every thing out. I was pretty tired when I got home last night and had my last protein shake for the day. I only get 4, 200 calories each. I had some beef broth and a couple of sugar free Popsicles. I have been told that it is better after day 3. I had already started 2 shakes and a low carb dinner 2 weeks ago in preparation . I am so ready for the 25th to get here! Shrink liver shrink!!
-
Byebyefat- I just started my 2 week liquid liver shrinking diet today. My surgery is on August 25th!! Who would have thought a sugar free Popsicle could taste so good!! Lol
-
I hope it doesn't take your insurance 2-4 weeks to approve your surgery. I was so fortunate that I had approval 24 hours after it was submitted!! I applaud your resolve and willingness to fight to be reweighed!!! You will do great????????????????

A lady wheeled out of the seminar once she heard that she would have to give up her diet pop/soda. She was in a wheel chair and had oxygen. She wasn't prepared for possible sacrifices! -

MZ Alice- are you still on for the 25th? I am!! I start my 2 week liquid diet on the 11th. I am so excited that the wait is almost over!! -
I had insurance approval 24 hours after it was submitted!! Now that is quick! Surgery is all scheduled for the 25th and I start my 2 week liquid diet on Tuesday! OMG...I am so excited!! I started using protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, with low carb dinner 1 week ago to get myself ready. I'll be on my liquid diet next week as I turn 55 and I couldn't be happier!!

I'm not a diabetic and my BMI is 39 and I will need the shots. Everyone is at risk for blood clots after surgery!
-
I got my approval today!! Congrats to you all. Surgery is August 25th!! So excited!!

Lovenox is a blood thinner, used to prevent blood clots. Blood clots are a preventable risk factor with WLS. The syringes some preloaded with the proper dose. The needle is very fine, similar to what is used to give insulin. It is a small amount, equal to about 40 units of regular U100 insulin if you are a diabetic. I have to take it for 14 days. Every surgeon is different as to if, and length of time. Hope that helps. Also, it goes in the fat so most people don't even feel it!!
