I was told that we were told no caffeine because it is so dehydrating. In the early stages, that could be a problem. I would think that a cup of halfcaff to start at your stage would be well tolerated.
-
It could be a bug. Call your surgeons office, they will have someone on call. You can get dehydrated so easily. You might try some G2. It might go gown easier than water.
-
Are you getting all your water and protein in?
-
Any other symptoms besides nausea? Did it just start?

laura4923 replied to DrewzWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shoulder pain can be referred pain. My left shoulder was really bothering me and once my drain was removed, the pain was gone immediately. My surgeon said it was referred pain from the drain. -

Hi all!! I got my drain removed today!! That feels so much better!!!! I also got advanced to purée foods. I had a puréed scrambled egg for one meal and 2 TBP of puréed chicken for another. Pretty tasty and I tolerated each without problems. I don't advance to a soft diet for 2 weeks. I can drive now and don't see MD again til the end of the month. Off work until I get the final okay to go back at that appointment. -
Hi all! I got my drain removed today!!! What a relief! Also got advanced to puréed diet. I had 2 TBS puréed chicken that was heavenly! Happy to be progressing along as expected. I've lost 39# since I first saw my surgeon in March!
-
Try for a couple of sips every 15 minutes. Every day is easier!! My surgery was the 25th. I can get my 64 oz of fld and 60 oz of protein in. I got to advance to puréed today which is like heaven!!

August 25th here. I had VSG with hiatal hernia repair. I still have a drain in that should come out in 2 days at my first post op appt. No nausea. Some gas during the night. Getting all my water in and up to 40g protein. I get tired fairly easy. Only pain I have is from my drain, taking Tylenol for that. -
Feeling so unsure.

This is about you and what you need to do to get healthy. Obviously each of us wouldn't be here if we had been successful with our previous dietary/lifestyle changes. I thought about this surgery for a year before I went to see my surgeon, dove head first into my required 6 month diet supervised program. I am now one week post op and am very happy. Talk to as many people as you can who have had this surgery, join a support group. You will find that most people are successful and love their sleeved life. You can do this!! -
Prayers that they will come to their senses soon!!

I was better after day three. I found that chicken broth really helped when I felt empty. Also Popsicles really were tasting good! Hang in there!! You can do it. Keep your eye on the prize!!!! -
Curious what your preop diet "side effects" were
laura4923 replied to thelakeisgone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I ran to the bathroom from all the artificial sweeteners. If I had sugar free jello and a Popsicle on the same day, I had the runs. Same thing post op -
I had to wait 6 months. I used that time to attend our programs support group meetings, exercise group, I read as much as I could. I was really ready by my surgery date. I didn't feel like I was giving anything up. I didn't have any last meals. I was on my 2 week liquid diet as I turned 55 and it is the best present I have ever given myself!!

Any August Sleevers?

My surgery was Tuesday the 25th. I had a VSG and hiatal hernia repair. I came home Thursday. I'm on full liquids - muscle Mille light, milk( low fat), smoothie shakes, strained soups and any of the clear liquids I had in the hospital. and 64 oz of water a day. My key was to switch to plain Tylenol and walk a lot. I went to Menards today ( a local hardware/building supply store) and walked around, drain and all. -
@katladee- I got up to walk 1.5 hours after getting back to my room. I was walking with my eyes closed and weaving like a drunk!! Lol. I had a little gas pain but not much since I walked a lot . My pain was mostly rated to the drain and it really only bothered me when I moved. That is the pain I have now as well. My lab has been keeping me company and is glad to have her mom home!! I'm setting an alarm on my phone to make sure I am drinking every 15 minuets. I have had my protein interspersed as well. I mostly sleep in between my alarms. Hope this helps! When is your surgery?
-
Hi all! I'm home on the couch with my love and my lab! First night was rough. I'm such a light weight when it comes to pain medicine. I couldn't keep my eyes open and the medicine was making me sick. Once I got rid of the IV pain meds and the migraine headache from not eating I felt much better. Now I'm home, sipping on water and protein drink, no nausea. Very weak and wobbly when up.

Hi group!! My surgery went well yesterday! My first night was rough, the iv pain medicine was making me sick and I ended up with a migraine from lack of eating. Today I feel much better!! I got rid of the IV medicine during the night, headache finally gone. Now I'm walking, sipping, walking, sipping!! Should be able to go home tomorrow. My only pain is from my drain. I keep an ice pack on it which seems to help and take liquid pain medicine every 6 hours. Good to finally be on the post op side! -
Hi to you all! I had my surgery yesterday. Day of surgery was pretty rough. I'm a cheap date and don't tolerate very much pain medicine. I don't remember much from yesterday except walking in the hall with my eyes closed!! Lol Today is much better. Passed the barium swallow and am sipping on water and protein punch, soups. Up walking every two hours. My only real pain from my drain site and my throat is sore from the tubes. I'm using liquid pain medicine. Expect to be discharged tomorrow!

I have a fit bit one and I love it. I only take it off to shower and charge it. I have it synched to Myfitnesspal. It keeps me active and in touch with my friends and family that are also Fitbit users. I also have their scale which I like as well!!
