Ok, so I weigh every morning. I have a routine. I shower, do my make up and blow dry my hair. Then I immediately get on the scale. Well this morning was like every other. I get on the scale and look down. The loudest scream I have ever screamed in my life flew out of my mouth. I am weighing 239 lbs. everyone came running my son with a broom because he thought the way I screamed there was a rodent in the house! I am officially down 85 lbs. oh wow!! I so psyched up. It's been 14 years since I weighed so little!!

Protein powders and kidney function
TXMissy replied to quiltermom65's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There is a reason why we are so enciuraged to drink tons of water. I was warned early on if I didn't take it seriously because of my already existing issues with kidney infections it could happen. I am drinking tons of water. At least 80 oz a day to keep them flushed. -
So awesome!! I'm 41 lbs away!! I can't wait to join you and the others I. Onederland!

I know my goal was to loose weight. It's become very obvious that I have lost. My face is slimmer and there are other obvious signs. I cut my hair last weekend. I guess I was not expected for what was coming next. I came to work on Tuesday and the uproar from several different groups of people complimenting me erupted. It's continued all week. I can just say thank you but I'm so embarrassed. I have never had anyone compliment me to this extent. I don't know what to say so I just smile and turn red. I'm flattered, but beyond thanking them do I say something else? How do you handle these situations?

Everything goes down for me as long as I chew it up really well. My pouch does not always agree that's the problem for me. If meat is too dry it will get hung up and is painful. Bread and pasta, it's a lost hope. I believe living gluten free is actually better for me anyway.

So I'm always cold since surgery. That I am dealing with by buying every hoodie and sweater I can find. The other thing I noticed is little things like bumping my toe or scratching myself is painful. I'm not talking a minute or so, it can be a whole day. I burned myself putting something in the oven one day and it hurt for 3 days. It didn't even leave a mark that is how minor it was. I'm worried it's more but I don't even know how to approach this or with who. I know the rheumatology dr that I was referred to for having inflammatory markers blew it off as nothing, but I keep worrying there is more. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm looking it up. Thanks.

I love salad!! It's a staple in my diet. When I don't know what else to eat I'll find some tuna or chicken with salad.

Sweet n low, splenda & equal-can you use these after surgery?
TXMissy replied to ptsmile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing that I was told was ok was stevia. I don't like it so I go without it. I am not a fan of bitter aftertaste especially from sweetners so I'd rather just not use them. I only had to have one nutrition class so all my questions weren't answered, but I do know from what I read you are better off without all the chemicals. -
Congrats!! That's the best news!!

I eat wraps, but I use lettuce. I haven't tried bread and I'm scared to. Maybe a few more months.

Question about goal weight?
TXMissy replied to Sajijoma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said I could lose 200 lbs. me losing 200 lbs, I'd look like there was something wrong. My goal is losing 150-170 lbs. I'm about half way there. -
I lost 20 lbs in 14 days preop on my liquid diet.

It's a major surgery and should not be taken lightly. I can tell you first hand that I am thankful everyday that I did it. I know that in preop I questioned if it would be worth it. I wondered if I was rushing into surgery. I was scared of so many things from eating to anesthesia. Truth be told, I can tell you that it was the smartest thing I have ever done and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!

I am 3 months post op, I have been eating nuts for about a month. Cashews are my favorite. Peanuts are a little more rough. Never have been a fan of almonds.
-
I plan my meals. I take my food. I know my limits and it takes will power but I work hard. My coworkers know I won't waiver so they don't try. I dump and I refuse to get sick because it's horrible. You have to work the program. You might lose some weight, but you need to use your tool while it is shedding weight. Get a book and get on track! I know if I can do it anyone can!

I would talk to your surgeon's office. You would probably be ok, but might be a bit uncomfortable. I drove myself to my 1 week visit and it was 45 minutes away. It wasn't bad, but I was tired!
-
Silly me!! So for starters the assistant called me in and she was asking me all these weird questions. Then she asked who my surgeon was. I told her. Then she said she didn't recognize me. Lol!! So I showed her my driver's license and she started laughing and apologized. Both her and my surgeon were very praising of my weight loss. My surgeon was more concerned about my eating and flipping through my journal. He said I was obviously doing what I was suppose to because the weight was coming off. He said if I continue sticking to my diet, excercising and taking my vitamins I'll keep seeing results. It was a great visit!

So it's been 3 months. I had a sw of 324 and I am down to 245 as of this morning. I have my 3 month follow up tomorrow. Is 59 lbs since surgery a good number?! I am eating ok so I think, I'm walking so much. I am just so nervous. Im seeing the hard work pay off. Im just so worried about what my surgeon will say. I guess I am seeking approval. I know I'm a grown woman, I should deal, but I want my surgeon to say good job! Sigh...

I can't say the cravings completely go away post op, but something has changed. My cravings are not as strong. Oh and dumping keeps me from trying. A couple of bad episodes and I am no longer interested. I struggled preop. I had no will power. Post op you can stick a dessert tray in my face and I can say no. A hamburger or even a sandwich sounds great, but I know I can't have the bread. I have found different ways to satisfy my cravings. I make lettuce wraps instead of sandwiches and I will even wrap a turkey burger with lettuce. My limited amounts of food also help. I know I have to get my protein in so there isn't much room for anything else. Does a cheesy slice of pizza look good? It does and it smells delicious. Is it worth me feeling sick the rest if the day? Nope!! I feel great, my will power is so strong. I feel determined!! Most of all, I'm so glad I did this surgery and changed my life.

Thanks! I just pulled up and I'm heading in. In my pants 2 sizes smaller and a jacket that is the smallest size I have bought since graduating high school 20 years ago. Here I go!!!
