Ok, Am I Beating Myself?!
TXMissy replied to ANewMe83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can barely finish a cup of yogurt. I usually leave a third of it. However, yogurt to this day is my slider food. When I'm not very hungry, nothing else seems appetizing or I just can't get anything else down I can get the yogurt down. I know that as soon as I went home I was on full liquid which included yogurt with milk to water it down. I was scared to push it. So a quarter of a cup at a time was good, but I was so hungry the first few weeks! -
This may come across as narcissistic
TXMissy replied to jennylew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't look for approval of my surgery. I did it for me. I'm reaping the benefits by leaps and bounds. I am following the plan and it's paying off. I had a lot of people were upset with because I didn't tell them. It was my decision. The people who had to know, knew. It was the other 75% that I could really not care whether they knew or not. I was so worried I would be talked out of it. I did have a cousin who was and is furious with me to this day because I went against what she wanted me to. It isn't a secret anymore. I get questions all the time. Compliments can be awkward at times. I just keep saying you are set up to break the goals, keep going! Just remember the reasons you chose the surgery. -
I got a mirena iud about 3 months after surgery. I haven't had to worry about getting pregnant at all because it's the last thing I want to do! I have had the absolute worse time with it. It has been a month of hell. I'm so over it the spotting, cramping and bleeding. They keep telling after 3 months it will get better. I have lost my optimism on the subject!! Just a word to the wise!

How bad is it to sleep on my stomach?

I couldn't for a long while. It was too painful, but I do now. -
Does anyone stock up on smaller clothing?
TXMissy replied to losing_the_band's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I did a few weeks ago. I was getting shirts and sweaters for $3-9 each. I'm ready for fall!! -
I think the first month is toughest because you just want to eat something your not suppose to. I do know about this I stepped up my exercise game. It's the whole endorphins bit. It made me feel better and get through those last couple of weeks to eating regular. If you go to gatherings I eat before I go. I try to stay away from the main eating areas and sip my water. If it's something I can eat I make a plate and nibble until I'm full. I kind of just move the food around my plate do it looks like I ate. You have come so far, focus on the goal. You can do it!!

Feeling alone through this journey
TXMissy replied to RollingRing's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I felt similarly, but the one thing I did was tell my coworkers. They have been real encouraging and supportive! The definitely my cheering section. My mom and my husband came around. You have us! I know you can do it! -
Pain----any ideas what is causing it?
TXMissy replied to conner7701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your insides have been rearranged. I'm sure a lot of it is healing. I could lay in my sides. Most of my pain was on my left side. It was more like muscle pain. -
I have been in plus sizes since my Sophomore year in high school. There are things I avoid: bathing suits, Halloween costumes, shorts, anything from fitting. The weight is coming off and my pants are getting smaller. I have been excited since before my surgery about the results, but now I'm getting scared. I need to go get some clothes soon. I'm just not sure of what to buy at this point. Oh and we will be going on vacation soon, tgat means a swim suit. Help!!

It gets easier. I'm about 3 1/2 months out. For me it start at 6 am and I keep drinking until 11. I'm up on100 oz a day. You have to keep drinking. In the beginning I though I would never hit 64. Now before I leave for work I have already had 32.

Is your 'hunger feeling' different post op?
TXMissy replied to dhrguru's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I only gurgle when I eat. I get hungry. My hunger is so different than before. I start hurting. I guess I go too long without eating. I get very irritable which is a new symptom to me. I guess it's almost like being hypoglycemic. My head hurts. I'm like the snickers commercials. It's so bad that I have started carrying snacks with me. Cashews, protein bar, etc. I'm sure my coworkers are glad that I do. -
Brief Stall .... Then Wonderland!

That is so awesome! -
Eggs don't agree with many people post op. I didn't much care for them pre op, but I can eat them some. Doesn't sound like dumping. I know post op I had a weird cough and I felt phlemy for a few weeks. It passed about 5 weeks. Now as for dumping, I don't really dump. I get the weird hypoglycemic action from starchy meals or stuff that has too much sugar (including fruit). About 3 weeks post op I ate something that didn't agree. I really want to say sausage, but I'm not sure. I got real nauseous and eventually I threw up and then I was better. No other side effects!

Falling hair, I knew...falling eye lashes, thinning eye brows?!
TXMissy replied to TXMissy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good point catwoman. The only reason I noticed is because I am a little OCD when it come to my face. I wear makeup every day. I check my eye brows and brush them, my eye lashes are already on the sparse side so a few missing is obvious. I started hair, skin, nail vitamin my dr recommended a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to give it a shot, he said they have seen great progress with them. I may have to resort to asking my dr for a latisse rx or start buying false eye lashes at the rate I'm going. I'm going to look more like a chemo patient at the rate they are falling. -
Falling hair, I knew...falling eye lashes, thinning eye brows?!
TXMissy posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm almost 4 months post op. I've been following the diet, I'm excercising, I feel great. So my hair has started falling and I expected it. However, I guess I didn't think my other hair on my body would fall too. Is it just me, should I be worried?! This is so strange as I don't have much body hair to begin with. Anyone else?! -

Yes, I am getting about 80-90g a day, honestly it may be a bit more. I'm taking my vitamins. I'm wondering if it's my thyroid which has been an uphill battle since last year. They keep adjusting it higher. I'm drinking right at 100 oz of water s day. Dietary wise I'm getting my veggies in and keeping the sugar out as much as possible. The absolute worse thing I can think is that I sneak the occasional chip or French fry. I'm walking and starting to jog on s daily basis. -
Congrats! It gets better and before you know it you are back to normal and better than ever!! The BM will come!

Not losing enough
TXMissy replied to snickysnack78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
AJ you are doing fantastic. Keep doing what you are doing fantastic. 52 lbs since you started and are 6 weeks out. Wow!! Keep working and don't get down on yourself. My dr is the best and is not worried about the number. He is worried about what I am eating and what I am doing. He said the number is just the added bonus! -
Husband just doesn't understand
TXMissy replied to lsmith715's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine knows now because I'm no longer ashamed to say I have lost or gained weight. I just knew that gaining 10 lbs was so tortuous to me and so shameful because 220 became 230 and then 239 and 245 and eventually 324. A lot of times it was trying to lose weight. The defeat in that alone was painful. I don't think there is one day post op that he has said anything to me. He too has gained a lot of weight since we married 14 years ago. I feel like a bit of them is insecure with the idea. He gets mad when another man flirts with me. I know one day I went to grab a basket and this guy (I can tell you nothing about him) according to my husband purposely bumped me from behind with a basket. I was stopped putting my purse in the basket. I quickly popped my head up and turned around. I apologized because I thought I was in his way. The guy laughed and said it was his fault. I walked away. My husband claimed he was checking me out but I was oblivious to it. I'm not looking for anyone else and it is just mr finding a healthier me. It irks me to no end. I would definitely sit him down and talk. It takes guts to open yourself up like that, but at the end of the day if you can get the support of the family you live with your journey may be hard. He may flip out, but he needs to know your struggle is real! -
Not losing enough
TXMissy replied to snickysnack78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I was talking to a friend yesterday and we were discussing the amount that I have lost. She as well as everyone keeps asking what my goal is. I don't have an answer. When I weighed 200 lbs last I was in high school. When I weighed 175 I was in jr hi. I thought I was huge then and I am in sizes I wore in high school but I feel so good right now. So my answer to them is, my goal is to be healthy. If I didn't lose another pound I would be happy! I have worked the plan and I have seen results that will last me a lifetime. I had put on at least 100 lbs since I was married 14 years ago. That doesn't include my see sawing back and forth. If it takes me 5 years to lose it all, fine! I'm in no hurry! I feel like I have lost too fast btw. I have lost a total of 85 lbs since April 1st. -
I still gurgle. Some come out like a huge hiccup. Everyone laughs and then we move on. The noises in my body are so strange, but you do get use to it. Now when I burp, it's loud and gross. I just apologize. I really have no control over it. I'd much rather it come up than out the other in.

10 week Post Op Questions....
TXMissy replied to Mila48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My skin is better than it was at 10 wks, I am using a heavy cream to help with it. I continue to push the liquid. I have had several people try to sell me vitamins and stuff that are suppose to help but I want to win this battle on my own!!
