Ok, I'm going on 2 weeks and my scale is holding steady! I beg and pleaded, even offered new batteries. I have been expecting a stall for a long time, but I had no idea it would be when I hit 95 lbs. I would be much happier with it hitting at 100. So I wait, I'm 4.5 months post op.

How often do you see your surgeon/office visit post-op?
TXMissy replied to Erron1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me 1 week, 3 months, 6 months and then annually -
Anytime, even now, I feel or think I'm hungry I drink water first. I know in the beginning my hunger was in my head. Even now at times its in my head. If I'm not hungry after a few sips of water then I know it my head given off false hunger pangs. I stick hard to 3 small meals and a small snack. If I sway out of that I'll be eating all day again!

That sounds great! Thanks for sharing!

I haven't stopped cooking. I have started making better choices for my family. They don't necessarily know it, but they still eat. I make sure to have stuff for salad on hand or fresh veggies. They still get the things they love like sloppy joes or spaghetti. I just may take out some of the ground meat (it's ground turkey they don't know that) and put it in my salad. If it's out for dinner we choose places I can eat which is nearly all restaurants. Who knew pei Wei served salad?! It's about choices. I can choose to eat a slice of cake and big fat bacon burger, but I know all the hard work I have done will go down the toilet. There are sweets in my house. I have even taken the kids to get ice cream, but ultimately the decision to have some or not is mine. I can tell you I have tasted various things. I accidentally took a sip of my daughter's soda and as soon as I tasted it I thought what is she drinking?! This is awful!! My taste have changed and I just look at it as for the better. My family didn't choose this, I did. It's still my responsibility to take care of them!

I don't know what to say. I would think there is a fluctuation that they can account for. Even after losing weight my weight still fluctuates. Meaning I can weigh 240 in the morning, 242 at night and 241 the next morning.

I throw in a boiled egg (extra protein), light mayo (or light miracle whip) and some diced pickle. I also will cut a boiled egg in half and put the tuna in it like a deviled egg. Extra protein and it also pacifies my craving for bread or crackers.

I haven't had a soda in about 4 years! I don't want it. My kids and husband drink it. I have replaced my 20 oz dr. Pepper with a 1 liter bottle of Evian. I hear the whining about the money I spend on Water. So my thing is when they give up the soda, I'll give up the Evian and switch to Disani. I don't crave soda. My Surgeon and Nut both recommended giving up soda all together as there was a potential of stretching my pouch. That's enough of a reason. It was more about gas getting trapped inside than the soda physically stretching my pouch.

Issues with my eye sight and glasses since I no longer have diabetes
TXMissy replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My vision has greatly improved. Prior to surgery I had been diagnosed as a diabetic, but post surgery I am now fine. I'm a lot healthier in more ways than one. My sight is back to near perfect, but my focus is an issue so they are treating that. -
I'm thinning. I don't have bald spots and it's probably like 30 strands in the shower. Some when I blow dry and a few strays. It's not bad, but obviously thinner. No one but me has noticed its thinner on my head. Unfortunately everyone has noticed the clogged drain. I am on biotin and I may go get some nioxin this weekend. I need to color my hair, but I'm scared to!

That's so inappropriate! That would just give me more motivation to prove her wrong!! 7 lbs is nothing compared to what you have been through. Sorry some people don't know how to be pleasant!!

I feel awkward. I am in sizes I really don't ever remember wearing. I hate shopping for clothes for myself. I'm up to about 4 bags of clothes that need to go. 18 is too big and 16 is too small! It's not a problem I have ever complained about before. The 22 and 20 jeans are being healed up with a belt that is on its last notch. I'm not complaining or bragging, just agreeing with you!!

How much cn you actually eat?
TXMissy replied to Julie West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can about a half cup to a 3/4 of a cup at each meal depending on what it is. Bread, I still cannot eat. It just sits in my pouch and hurts. Drier meat forget it. I can eat salad and probably more like a cup of salad. I know I will continue to pick at my food as long as it is in front of me. I eat and when I'm done I put my plate up right away. I eat until I'm content. If I think I'm hungry between meals I drink water before I ever stick food in my mouth. Some days I feel like a fish because I drink so much water. I eat 3 meals and may have a small snack like nuts, cheese stick or a few grapes. Usually a whole cheese stick is too much of a snack. I keep my bites small and chew chew chew. I can definitely eat more done days. I also have days that I can barely eat, these are my tough days and it really bothers my husband. It's really finding out what works for you. -
I had the mood swings, the uncontrollable sobbing over getting a higher electricity bill, kids fighting would send me over the edge. The smell of an egg would make me lose my appetite for days. It has gotten better! My husband calls it skinny people problems!! Lol!! It has gotten better. In the middle of it all I went to see my gyno who laughed with me. I also had my mirena put it around this time so I feel like the hormones in that has helped. The mirena has been a whole new monster just FYI.

Biotin- chewable before and after bypass
TXMissy replied to Dream4tc's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm currently taking the it works skin, hair and nails. My hair is falling out and not growing in as quickly as I'm losing it. What is there is growing like a weed. My nails are nice and thick and strong. I can't say anything will prevent it from falling out. My hair has never been this thin my whole life. -
Gurgling Upper digestive tract after eating?
TXMissy replied to freelee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
4 months out and still gurgling! Some times it just a little noise I can hear and other times it sounds like a bath tub draining. My kids get freaked out by it, but it is an every day occurrence for me. I just giggle it off and carry on. -
Ready to Drink Protein Shakes
TXMissy replied to Mobeans63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too love Premiere. I like the strawberry really cold, I put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before I drink it. The chocolate one I mix in my coffee with about a half of a packet of sweet n low when I'm craving a starbuck's latte. I haven't had the vanilla because I can never find them. Oh and I am forever finding coupons that save me about $3 on a 4 pack, I have yet to pay more than $4 a pack. -
Ultimately it's up to your surgeon. I know many people don't have to do the liquid diet prior to surgery. I know I did and I followed it and it was hard. I know a close friend didn't and all she had to do was clear liquids 24 hours prior to surgery. I would tell my surgeon just to be on the safe side.

Thank you ladies!! Yes just had to get it off my chest because I almost went home crying yesterday and it has been eating at me since I overheard two of my coworkers gabbing about my weight loss and wondering where I got the money for it. Well since they must know, I have amazing insurance from my most wonderful hubby who works for a great company. Yes, I'm very proud of myself! (Crazy witches!!) I work for a very small company. Everyone knows and everyone sees. There is very little you can hide there. I work hard all day. I never lack work on my desk. I don't socialize because honestly I don't have time. The women who do the same thing I do are always busy bodying in someone else's business. Not me, not who I am. It just struck the wrong chord yesterday. It's time for a new job, I was just wanting to lose a little more before I started looking. Oh and just for the record it started out because of the 5 million entries I make on a daily basis, one number was incorrect. I'm sure not positive how it became so difficult to bring it to my attention so I could fix it!!

My goal at this point is not to loose weight. I have lost a lot of weight. My skin is the issue. I have talked to several people that have told me it worked for them, but you do have to maintain it. I'm a little against another surgery. I don't think my husband or kids can handle another surgery either.

What kind of shakes are you using?! I eat 3-4 times a day and usually either have a protein shake or a small snack like a cheese stick or less than a handful of nuts (I'm almost 4 months out please be careful if nuts is not in your plan). I don't get nauseous, but I am sugar sensitive and it makes feel lethargic if I eat too much sugar or too much! Oh and I drink premiere shakes. I love the chocolate one mixed with my coffee. The strawberry ones are great as long as they are cold. I pop them in the freezer for 20 minutes before I drink them. I like them just at the point of icy!
-
When I drink it, I drink full caffeinated coffe, with half a sweet n low, mixed with my chocolate premiere protein shake mixed in it. I only do this once every couple weeks more as a change in pace.

Eating has sucked for the last few weeks. I don't know what I want and honestly I'm not hungry. I have everyone counting my protein and telling me what I can and can't eat. Sometimes I can eat and others I can't. I have good days and then I have down right plain horrible days! I've been struggling, but I found to going back to basics has worked. Simplifying my meals is working. Drinking my water and taking my vitamins all help encourage healthy habits.

I'd really like to know the results. I have been taking their hair and nail vitamins. Seeing great results!
