Share your rants about the fashion industry!

I think my biggest gripe is that I'm not a true plus size woman. I don't have large boobs so dresses and shirts are baggy in the top. I had to have them altered to fit. Also why in the world do I want glitter, beads, rhinestones or silver studs on every shirt? I'm not a show girl and I certainly don't want to call attention to the fact that I don't have big voluptuous boobs. I don't have big legs, or a butt to fill out a size 24 pant. So I look ridiculous because my pants are waving in the wind. Lastly, the pricing. I love that a shirt in the regular section is $20, but in the plus size section it's $29. Ummmmmm...I get you have to use more thread and mayerial, but $9 worth? Really? The fashion industry is so out of tune with plus size fashion, it's ridiculous! We don't elastic stretch jeans because we are bigger. I'm not quite ready to look like I'm ready to retire and I certainly think if I wanted to look frumpy I could go buy sweat pants at walmart.
  2. I can honestly say that the preop diet was the worst of this journey. I really struggled with it. At one point I remember thinking, I can't go through with it, the surgery won't be worth it. I can say that the last few days of it I wasn't hungry any more. I do believe it gave me extra stamina those first few days post op. I lost 20 lbs pre op. So struggling is not a bad thing and it becomes mental challenge at times. If you can get through it you can get through surgery.
  3. I want to say about my 3rd week I started to feel good. It comes and goes. Im 7 weeks now. When I eat I feel like I could go just sleep. It's weird.
  4. Funny we just had a discussion about this at dinner. I don't think I am.I need more protein. I'm going to try adding a shake in the afternoon. I'm eating such a small amount. My mother gives me grief about it. I try really hard, bit I feel like I'm full. I rarely say I'm hungry.
  5. So when I received my surgery date (4/15/15), I set my first goal at 50 lbs by my birthday. I've been working hard. Today is my birthday and .......... I hit exactly 50 lbs today!! I am so excited. The first 40 was easy, but with a week and a half stall, I was scared I wouldn't make it. My next goal is 30 lbs by August for my class reunion.

    My mistake...

I am going to look those up. When I went to the grocery store I did look at the protein bars there but they had so much sugar and carbs. Thanks for the suggestion!
  8. So finding foods to settle during purees and soft food was a challenge. One night after not being able to get down my jello I grabbed a banana. It was so good. However, I feel like that was what pushed me into a stall because I tolerated them so well I was eating one a day. Last week (official 6th week), I pushed protein instead. I stood away from so many carbs. Perhaps my best week in many perspectives. I felt good, I ate but now my pouch has started becoming more restritive in the amount it holds, met my water goals 5 days. I also saw it on the scale with a 5 lb loss. This is getting so much easier!! My single complaint is that mother nature is pushing me to crave chocolate. I tried a protein shake, my calcium chews are chocolate but they didn't satisfy the crave. Help!!
  9. I didn't start my vitamins until I was a week post op per my surgeon. My multi is huge. In the morning my husband calls them my 2nd breakfast.
  10. My surgeon gave thd go ahead for jogging at 1 week, but i have never been able to run. I have been walking, but maybe it's time to try a slow jog.

    Worries at two weeks

It gets better. You just had major surgery. I am 6 weeks out and I still have a hard time sleeping on my sides. I have a lump above my belly button, but it has started to go down. The pain in my belly button was bad for the first month. The one thing I can say is the more I walked the better I felt. It wasn't comfortable at first, but i managed. Eating is trial and error. Just keep doing what you are doing. It's going to get better!

Jack links jerky bites post op

    Juicing?

Yes I eat fruit, but it's high in sugar that can cause dumping and it has a lot of carbs. Focus on protein in take.

    Food Measurements

Because my eating is still so erratic, weighing has not been necessary. I know if I eat a half cup of food, I've eating all I can. Anymore it's not going to pretty. I focus more on protein then veggies and fruit. Chewing has been my main focus. Anything larger than a small bite is more than i can handle and it's painful.

    3 days post op

Yes every day you will improve. It wasn't so long ago that I was in your shoes. Do what your told. Keep walking. It makes the healing process so much better!! Good luck to you in your new journey!
  16. I just hit 6 weeks a couple of days ago and things I was eating are not going down as easily. I just started regular foods. I am not eating as much either. I don't have a choice. I was able to eat almost a whole cup of yogurt a week ago, now a few bites and I'm done. It's weird!
  17. I've had this happen twice in the last week. The first time it was drier chicken, today it was drier turkey.

    Incisions

I'm still itching 6 weeks out.
  19. I would make turkey meatballs, I used grounded up rolled oats is read of bread crumbs. I would make spaghetti and meatballs for family. I would take a meatball and sauce toss in some mozzarella in the food processor. It was sinful. I know of several people who had ricotta.
  20. Being afraid is normal. I went to a birthday party this past weekend and literally they served me more than i can eat in a week. I panicked and immediately gander the plate to the women i was sitting next to and offered to help serve. It was a lot more comfortable than explaining why i couldn't eat that much. You will be fine, just chew! ! And chew! ! And chew! !
  21. It really depends on the insurance co. I got through everything in about 2.5 months. The final approval was the longest and that was 3 weeks. I knew it was what I wantef, but i would have loved abother visit with the nut.
  22. Anyone who is critical instead of supportive needs to be ignored. I have a very supportive work environment, home andosteoporosis importantly a supportive spouse. I have critics too, but what they have to say weighs a lot less than how those who support me, make me feel.

  24. Sounds like you have a plan and it's working. My husband too has changed. He is well aware of my changes and something is going on in his head. Keep up the good work.

    4 days post op

I kept craving for a while. Not sure when it went away. I know it hasn't completely. It gets better though. This week we did desserts for our birthdays At wOrk. I had to sit at a table full of wonderful looking desserts. They even cut me a piece of cheesecake. It was temptation at it's best. I took it back to my desk and gave it to a coworker. I'm 5 weeks post op. I survived!!
