@@beckey Haven't posted here in a long time, but after reading your post I have to say I'm "gobsmacked" We go through this surgery for a reason, to lose weight, to gain control over our eating. On a personal note, I tried so-called "weight loss pills" many years ago, never again, If you eat the way you are supposed to eat, you don't need pills. I can't believe your surgeon would approve of anything like that. I'm sorry but your post looks more like a commercial to me, trying to lure people into something that might be bad for them. Just saying

Spoke to my WLS surgeon today about this. He told me that the only reason a sleeve would stretch is if the original surgery was not performed correctly (i.e. not enough of the top portion of the stomach was removed). I'm going with that. Staying on track and eating small.

@@jeaniebobeanie Actually, I was told to stay away from carbonated beverages for just the first 6 months. I have a soda stream also, and plan on getting it out again in a couple months. Not really sure why the ban.

Ok, I didn't have to do any pre-op diet, but I can understand liquid diet.

Try Stevia, it is a natural sweetener. I was told I could use Splenda, by my surgeon and NUT -
I put men that catcall into the same group as men that drive those huge jacked up trucks, and, I really feel sorry they have such itty-bitty penis's.

@@Ellenomore What you said is what I was told also. The stomach, after surgery does not stretch. It's the food choices you make that cause weight gain. It's also true that you cannot "shrink" your stomach by not eating as much. Just can't physically happen. You can train yourself not to eat much but it is very hard, but you cannot actually shrink your stomach.

Just posing a question, not looking for an argument

I did a lot of reading and research on band, bypass and sleeve, before I made my decision, as all of us do. It's not something to jump into. Like most of the posts I've read here, I did not want basically an " appliance" put into my body and then have to be poked with a needle once a month (HATE needles). I also didn't like the idea of "re-routing" my insides (shudder). So, I chose the sleeve. I have been very lucky in that I've not had any of the problems with it that I read about. No dumping or pain. I can actually even drink (sip) while I'm eating. I learned early on not to eat too fast or too much. All in all, the sleeve is the best decision I've ever made. -
Another step toward good health.....Got taken off one of my high BP meds today!! The other will be tapered off gradually. It is SO good to be able to say that. My blood sugar still hasn't come down, but cardio doc said that might take some time. I never thought refried beans and salsa (mild) would taste so good LOL Still trying to get down all the water and protein. I think my biggest problem is the fact that I have never been an AM eater. I never (pre-surgery) ate before 11am-12pm. It is hard to get into the habit of eating or drinking as soon as I get up. I'm doing better, but still a struggle. Sunday, for instance, I got my first 16oz of water down and then forgot to follow through with the protein shake til almost 10

Patsy, that sounds good. I'll have to try it. I usually mix 1/2 and 1/2 Premier Chocolate with FairLife Fat Free milk. It tones the chocolate down a bit. Had a bit of a scrambled egg for lunch. It was too dry, gonna have to watch that. Hubby is fixing some cod for dinner, I'll mix it with some cottage cheese to "loosen" it up a bit. Wow, bras are evil!! I was actually hurting until I got mine off this afternoon. I'm going out tomorrow and getting a sleep bra or sport bra. The "girls" need containment but not in a reg bra for a while.

WooHoo 11 lbs down!! Doctor is pleased with my recovery. I do need to get more Water and Protein in, but it's getting there. I switched over to Premier Protein as advised by Patsy and it's much easier to get that in. Still a little bloated but I think it's because I need to slow down, I'm drinking too fast. I've got a timer now and will try that.

@@Bubbletoes Good for you!! Sounds like you are really on track. I will be so glad to get past this bloated feeling.

How can I get my family in my corner?

I disagree, you are not alone! You have all of us!! Keep that in mind! -
I'm walking as much as I can around our back patio area. There really isn't anywhere out front to walk. I've been wearing my pedometer and each day I have more steps, so that is good. I know, baby steps. Thanks Lady1putt and Patsy1947

Please tell me this bloated feeling will go away soon. I feel like I'm 9 mo preggers again LOL I'm trying to get down all the fluids that I can but it is darn hard.

When I get ready to go back to the gym, I'll give you a holler. Yes, I've had the experience of drinking too fast. Not a good idea at all. I don't know if they will halp, but I took a couple GasX this morning. My middle still seems bloated. The GasX can't do any harm and it might help a bit.

I forgot about the pain meds giving you dry mouth. I've backed way off on them and yes, have noticed the mouth isn't as dry. Something else I've noticed. I've not been taking the handful of vitamins, just my Rx meds and just started my bariatric vitamins...anyway, the swelling in my ankles has just about vanished. True, I'm up about every hour to hour 1/2 peeing, So that is getting rid of a lot of fluid from my system, which in turn means the ankles will shrink. It's nice to see my ankles again LOL. I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Not dragging quite so much. Baby steps.

It is possible for all of us to manage our weight. Just look at how well we've managed it so far. I know what to eat to eat right I know fat is not good. I know sugar is not good. I know that loaf of crunchy, crusty, soft on the inside, french bread is not good for me. I "managed" to eat it all anyway. This surgery will help me get control back. Control I haven't had in over 40 years!

I just keep a 2oz glass of water in my hands all the time LOL When I empty it, it gets refilled. Today I graduated to creamed soups, yogurt, pudding. Not drinking 30 before and 30 after, puts a bit of a crimp in the drinking though Just wish I could figure out why, the more I drink, the dryer my mouth gets! It's crazy! The bloat is finally going down. Noticed my ankles are not swollen any more. One day at a time, eh?

If you're going to make that shake. You can cut a lot of calories by using the Fat Free Fairlife. It gives you 80 calories and 13g protein in 1 serving -
Thank you Kate. I feel a bit better each day. Today I graduate to milk, thinned yogurt, creamed (and blended) soups. My hubby is a little too gleeful about giving me the blood thinner shots each morning LOL He's taking good care of me.

@@Lady1putt Oh boy, I know it will get better. How in the world do you get 48 to 64 oz of Water in, especially these first few days.I can't drink when I'm asleep. I'm doing the best I can but my mouth is SO dry! I'm still kind of loopy and tired all the time.
