I just had my 2nd nutrition appointment and was given the New Whey as a sample to start preparing for post op liquid diet. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App I ordered a 12 pack off of Amazon for less than $30. Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App
  2. I hope you get feeling better soon! My surgery is on the 18th also and I JUST got over the flu. I went to my pre admission testing and when she took my temp I nearly passed out from holding my breath (I couldn't breathe through my nose and had to keep my mouth closed) lol. I was so scared they would push back my surgery as well. Keep us updated! Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

I ended up looking on Anthem.com and it looks like I only have less than $500 before I meet my out of pocket limit so I'm hoping that means it won't be any more than $500. I'm still going to call and double check though. Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App Keep your fingers crossed for me please! Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

She told me to call back Monday (1 week before my surgery date) and try again. So I guess that's what I'll do...ugh. Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

I'm hoping that's not the case because I'd have to postpone it a bit which is not ideal since I already have my date, FMLA approved, bought everything and doing the liquid diet. I hope it's less than that because I know other things have been applied to my out of pocket. I just wish someone could give me an answer instead of me just hoping for the best and facing disappointment :/ Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

I called again today to try and find out a money figure of some sort, spoke to 3 different people and still don't have an answer. One lady told me $8500 and I told her there was no way that was right due to my insurance covering some of the surgery and my out of pocket max. She was surprised that insurance covered it, she said most insurances don't. She still could not give me any kind of estimate though which is really stressing me out. I'm praying I have enough to cover the amount...I'll be devastated if I don't. ???? Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

My doctor recommended that I buy the "New whey" brand liquid Protein. One small tube has 42 grams of protein so you need 2 small tubes a day in most cases and all of your protein is covered. You can mix them with Water if they are too strong tasting for your preference. They are supposed to come in really handy in the first weeks after your surgery when you may be having a hard time consuming enough to get in all your protein. FMLA approved....one more hurdle to go.

Thank you! I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask. This is my first big medical venture as an adult so I feel a little overwhelmed with the whole insurance aspect as I don't completely understand it all, I'm sure we all feel overwhelmed at some points though no matter how insurance savvy we are. Yes you do. When I get home I can find this 1-800 number for you to call. You give them your doctor's office info and they'll send them a request for a prescription. Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid diet day 2-STRUGGLING

Oh you're post-op, I missed that part, sorry. I don't have any experience with the post-op world yet. Maybe you can try going to the post-op thread and looking around there? Someone may have already addressed your question. If not, feel free to make a post and ask for advice. I'd always check with your doctor though. Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

I was told about that nasal spray as well at my surgery consult. You take it once a week, one spray in one nostril. Thankfully my insurance covers it so it'll be delivered to me along with other vitamins each month for $25 and free delivery. Without insurance I believe it was around $70 plus delivery. Liquid diet day 2-STRUGGLING

I guess as long as you are drinking the amount your doctor recommend per day it wouldn't matter if you drank a little every 15 minutes, as long as you get it all in. I would ask your doctor's office to be sure. I'm stumbling my way through this myself Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid diet day 2-STRUGGLING

Oh I wish I was that close to my surgery day, this might not seem like such an ordeal lol. I'm trying to drink so much Water that I lose my appetite. I want and need my surgery more than I want a large thin crust sausage and pepperoni pizza with light sauce and extra cheese.....I think ???? Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App
