I guess it's time to stop lurking. This is such a great site! I live in far Northern California. 58 years old and I've been way to heavy my entire life. I've always been very active and healthy but about the time I turned 50 things started changing. The knees started hurting and blood pressure started creeping up. Aches and pains that I never experienced were common occurances. I've been wanting to get rid of the weight my entire life but it never happened.
With the patella/femoral arthritis my mobility has decreased so much that I'm starting to gain weight from my lifetime level. I can't exercise like I'm accustomed to so I'm gaining because I can't move and it's getting worse because I can't lose the weight. A horrible 'Catch 22' situation.
Now I have to do or I'll end up sitting on my butt for the rest of my life. That's not an option.
The sleeve is my choice at ValleyCare in Pleasanton, Ca. I have no date for the surgery as of yet. Lots of hoops to jump thru and things to take care of.
It seems like a never ending list. Nutritional counseling, therapy, tests.
But it's leading to a goal that I'm finally going to reach!
I'm excited. And scared. So nervous. But This is going to be good!
