  1. Starting at 326 lbs. last April, I could only dream of being 199 lbs. again for the last 30 years. It was a dream I never expected to come true. I'm so happy to say that I OFFICIALLY hit my goal this morning and cannot be happier with where this journey has taken me and what all it has taught me. Thanks to God, my family, doctors, friends, and nutritionists!!! Without all of them, this would have never happened or been this enjoyable of a story. Eating right and keeping a positive mind will never allow me to go back to the pain, both physically and mentally that I experienced for most of my adult life. I encourage anyone reading this that is thinking of surgery to talk with your doctor and look at its benefits. It's not the magic pill, but it is the tool to get you back in charge of your life.

  7. Thanks to God, my surgeon, nurses, nutritionist, and my family for the blessings and support. In just 5 short months, my life has changed forever. No more medicine, no more pain, no more thinking about dying over thinking about living! Anyone reading this that is considering surgery, feel free to reach out to me privately if you have questions or need support. Nothing about this surgery was easy and it was not anything I ever planned for, but by the grace of God and my team, I am a new man, father, and husband because of it!

  10. Anyone else have this problem? Before surgery, I never drank 64 ounces total a day and find myself struggling even more now. I'm averaging about 30 ounces a day and feel nauseous if I try to force more. I know I'm getting slightly dehydrated at times based on a few leg cramps at night and dizzy when I get up too fast. Gatorade G2 seems to be helping with the cramps... Any other suggestions that I'm not thinking about would be appreciated.
  11. I have and will continue to use the ProCare chewable. It offers everything you need in one chewable per day. Minus the Calcium.

    Typical 1 week loss?

It's completely different for everyone. For me I lost 17 lbs. the first two weeks. That doesn't include an 8 lbs. gain the 2 days I was in the hospital from all the IV fluids. I started at 326 the week before my surgery...did my liquid diet...was 311 the morning of my surgery...and was 17 pounds down exactly 2 week from surgery. Stay focused on the right things and look long term. Enjoy the ride...it's great to see the pounds leave weekly.
  13. This is a great question. I'm 4 weeks out and have a 7 inch "Taz" holding a Alabama A on my shoulder. Had it done about 5 years ago and when I was 30 pounds lighter. I actually noticed this weekend that Taz didn't look fat anymore and that the red in the A had brightened up so much that it looks like it did the first 6 months I had it. My wife even agreed that it was deeper color and didn't look faded anymore.

    Call the Bariatrics police!

DAMN! I couldn't drink that much before surgery. What do you consider a cup?

    Is it normal...

Four weeks out here and the bottom left incision will tweak if I lay down wrong or get up wrong. Usually quick movement on that side. Other than that, all good.
  16. Head Hunter - Almost 4 weeks post-op here. You and I started out at the same height, weight, and diet loss before surgery. Don't cheat anymore but don't beat yourself up either...it's not healthy. You have done good and are doing what I believe is the hardest part of all this. The liquid diet sucked!!! I get it. Surgery will be here soon and you will feel better day by day. I have lost 39 lbs. to date, my feet and knees no longer hurt, and I feel better than I have in 10 years. I'm walking daily because I want to, and I'm a happier person. I pray you make it through this rough patch and that you'll have great success as well. Good luck...let me know how everything goes for you.

17 days post op and a stall?

Last Monday I was exactly 3 weeks post-op. Sure enough the dreaded stall hit me as well. No loss from Sunday through yesterday. I did lose 1 pound this morn. I have been averaging 7.5 lbs. a week prior to this. not worried about it though as I did lose inches this week. Muscle is better than fat and the stall will end no doubt.
  18. No pain after surgery but now is scratchy as all get out. I don't seem to be having any reflux issues but not sure if this may be tied to it. Have done well on my diet so not sure what else this could be. thoughts?
  19. Keemi - My surgeon put me on over the counter PrevAcid. The dosage says 1 pill a day for two weeks. He said 2 pills a day and continue. Since I've done that, absolutely no acid reflux. Each doctor will be the different so you should call and ask if this is okay.
  20. As a lot of people have mentioned, everyone's journey is a different one. I'm fortunate as well as I have lost 38 lbs. in my first month. Stick to a good meal plan, get your proper liquids and Proteins in, and take your Vitamins. do that and you'll be successful!
  21. For the first week I was not able to. Almost into my 3rd week but still lagging in getting in 64 ounces + all Protein needed. I'd say I'm getting 60 grams of protein and 48 ounces of total fluids and I'm doing great. Do your best but don't push yourself to throw up. I suggest the Pro Series Muscle Milk to help you. 11 oz. contains 32 grams of protein. The 14 ounce is 40 oz. It has been a life saver! Slow and steady...keep moving ing the right direction. Good luck!!!
  22. Almost 3 weeks out and getting a runny nose and will sneeze most of the time when I'm full. Thought I was losing it until I confirmed with my NUT yesterday that said he has heard quite abit about this. Thank goodness the pain is almost gone...sneezing HURTS for the first couple weeks!
  23. Unfortunately not. Doc diagnosed acid reflux and upped my dosage. Never had acid reflux before. Oh well, still wouldn't change a thing.
