How long was your pre-op diet?
OhSusannah replied to smilingsarahjo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon didn't require a liquid diet. But I did have to lose a minimum 5% of my weight using South Beach diet. I had to lose 17 lbs (5%), but I lost 25lbs before surgery, also had to meet with my NUT a few times, keep a food diary, all before I could meet with my surgeon to schedule surgery, but of course they stagger the appointments so you can fit in all the tests, psych eval, blood work, etc. I had to have liquids the day before surgery and nothing after midnight. Good luck to you!! Congrats on your 26 lb loss!! -
Finally told someone & OMG, smh! :(

All my family, friends, and colleagues whom I care about know about my new journey and they are very happy for me that I am doing something to lose this weight I have been carrying around my adult life. I think being open helps me be accountable and honest. This works for me, but it may not for you, and that's ok. There are some things though that they will never understand because they have not walked in our shoes. This forum can be the place we can go to when we need the fellowship of like-minded people from all walks of life...to hear about different experiences. We can hear about what works, what's down the road, etc. We can take what we like, and leave the rest. Thank you for sharing your journey with me. We can all learn from each other :-) -
Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
OhSusannah replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Aaron Hoffman, chief surgeon, from Buffalo General Hospital's Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery performed my surgery on 12/22/2014. This fully accredited bariatric program at Buffalo General is a Center of Excellence, meaning all aspects of the program’s surgical processes are closely examined and data on health outcomes are collected. Their statistics are outstanding!!! It was understood from the very beginning that I had to do MY part of this process...surgery alone would not solve my lifelong weight problem! I was ready to make the commitment. I was completely confident in Dr. Hoffman's experience and statistics, the Center's exemplary standards, and the entire team at BGH. I would highly recommend Dr. Hoffman! -

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
OhSusannah replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too had Dr. Hoffman at BGH. He is awesome as well as the whole bariatric team! I know the original posts were a couple years ago, but is anyone still keeping up on here? If so, how are you doing? I am glad to see folks from WNY and especially Dr. Hoffman's patients!
