Pre op weight goal met but will I still get denied?
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to likelike's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It all depends on if the psych clears you or not. It is totally normal to gain a few pounds after your wedding. Its great to lose it again. I gained around the holidays, but then lost it right after and I only gained a few pounds. My doctor told me that it was ok. He said he even gained a few pounds around the holidays. You were also dealing with stress and if you traveled that would play a part as well. Hopefully you get approved. The psych could require you to go to counseling sessions before approval though. My surgeon recommends to go to the psych visit as soon as possible because that is where people are likely to get caught up. What did you tell him about why your didn't lose any weight? -

Hello(:
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to stephieg2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do this. Congrats!!!!!! -
I just want to send out some Friday encouragement. You are stronger than your body wants to believe. You can do so much. Today, I did 4 spin classes. That equals 3.5 hours of spinning and 30 minutes of planking. Mind over body!! I also made good food decisions with an egg white omelet, banana with Peanut Butter, turkey breast... Don't give up on yourself.

Friday Motivation
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Did you do 4 spin classes this week, or all in one day? I feel like that might be a typo, lol! I did 4 in one day. My instructor and i have become friends. She had to teach all 4 so I did them with her. We called it our marathon. I did 7 in a week and also walked over 20 miles during exercise. I also did some core and strength building exercises. -

Eating after exercise
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am hungry after exercise, but typically can not eat very much at all after working out. I think its because I drink while working out. -
New to Bariatric Pal and have questions
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to ogleland's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Monday will by 7 weeks post op for me, so my experience is fairly limited. I can tell you that I am already very happy to have had the surgery. I had the sleeve procedure. I wanted to lose about 100 pounds, but even if I don't lose another ounce, I would say the surgery was worth it. I chose the sleeve because I didn't want my intestines rerouted. That was my personal preference. The sleeve doesn't average as high of weight loss as RNY, but there isn't a malabsorption problem either. Either way you will be able to eat less and have to take Vitamins forever. I don't really know what else I can tell you at this point. Do as much research as possible and become comfortable with the procedures. Your doctor will probably recommend a surgery after looking at your medical file. Start thinking about why you are choosing to have surgery and why you want the sleeve. Are you ok with RNY? Ask yourself the hard questions and be honest with yourself. That is the best way to succeed in this journey. -
How many calories should we be eating a day.
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to tamelntre's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the same issue. I exercise a lot and have a very physical job. I wear an armband that measures my calories burned and I am always over 3000. My NUT has me at 800 calories right now, but I think that's whats stalling my weight loss. I go see the nurse practitioner Monday, so hopefully she can give me more information. I think they often give a one size fits all calorie goal. -
I feel like a pig.....
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to judyoz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thats fine. Just make sure you are choosing the lower sugar varieties. I only get the ones with under 100 calories from chobani. I often get the plain and just mix in flavored Protein powder. -
How long was your hospital stay?
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I chose to stay 3 nights. I have some allergies and wanted to make sure I was adjusted to the meds before I went home, but I was allowed to leave around 6pm on the 3rd day. -
Stalled...trying to get out of it.
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to kyrickchick64's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try some of the no-calorie Water flavorings. I like the crystal light, but there are several varieties and flavors. Are you getting your Protein? What about exercise? Are you getting you exercise? Are you taking bites here and there and not recording them? Are you cooking with fats and not recording them? Are you eating out frequently? You may want to talk to your NUT or surgeon and get a specific plan. You can do this, but you have to put in the work. -
stress eating
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to GenaW828's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't let the bad foods near you. Take the stairs at the hospital to get your exercise. You can do this. Remind yourself of how far you have come so you don't go backwards. -
Nerves and what if's. Please help!
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to Trudiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nerves are normal. Complications are rare. You can do this. Follow your doctors instruction and things should go smoothly. Do you have any friends in the area that would be willing to help if there was an issue? -
Increase in appetite
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to cindy4157's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Include your toddlers in your exercise. Push them in a stroller if you need to. Go to a park and let them play while you walk around the playground. March in place in your living room while the kids are sleeping. Run around the backyard with the kids. Include them in your exercise and you will be able to be more successful. They will benefit from the exercise too and will probably sleep better. -

Newbie with 3 kids
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to michellebernal1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week is hard, but then it gets easier everyday. The pre-op diet may be challenging as well. You aren't suddenly going to lose so much weight that you look different. It will be over a few weeks and months. You won't want to pick up your children, since that could rip your stitches. Maybe talk to them about that ahead of time. Let them know that you have to go see the doctor and when you come home you will have to rest a lot. Kids can often rise to the occasion. It may be useful to have some help for the first week or 2. -

2-4 weeks would probably be recommended, depending on how you do with pain and meds. Some people have a hard time with nausea. -

Pre-op Diet , i cheated :(
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to knf7111's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't cheat anymore. You can do this. Your success is tied to your commitment. It hard, but you can do it. Make it a point to be better everyday. -
I Am So Stupid Cheated my Preop and myself
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to headhunter75422's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be ok. Your choices were pretty good as far as the cheating. Get back on track and you will do fine. You may want to try a different shake. I like Premier Protein shakes. -
Question about Surgery?!
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to MarceMonster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgery shouldn't be cancelled by insurance unless you lose your insurance. Your doctor shouldn't cancel unless he/she has some type of emergency or there is a major medical crisis at your hospital. As long as you stay healthy, you should be fine. If you have a fever, cold, or flu they could postpone it.
