Just starting process

I am starting also. June 22 is my first visit. I have a nutritionist appt and 2 physicology appts. -
I am in mass. I need to do 6 mos with the nutritionist. What if I drop below bmi?
-
I have my appts and was wondering what I can expect. I am curious most about mental eval.
-
I have 2 1 hour sessions. Is this normal? Also what happens if you lose weight on nutrition diet?

There are 31 states that require wls in their polices. I do billing for a living fight fight fight they will come around. They are hoping you will give up. Find their policy online and send it in with the appeal. If you show them it is in their policy and you meet the requirements they will approve. I just went to my intro seminar and the dr said that if you have diabetes high blood pressure or sleep apnea they will approve right away (in massachusetts). United is a pain in the butt but they will reverse with documentation.

Has anyone had Fallon and gotten approval. I called them and they told me they didn't go by bmi and every case is different. I am starting my journey this week and I want to know what to do to help approval.
-
Its 6 mos now. What do you know about what you needed for the approval? Lisa

I have fallon and they told me that every case is different and they don't have a bmi restriction. Has anyone heard of that brfore? The dr that turned me down would even do it with self pay.

I have been looking for this type of post. I am 33 bmi and most of my issues are high family history of heart problems. I have other issues but not considered comorbity. Do you think I have a chance to be accepted?
-
What insurance do you have? I do billing for bariatric surgeons. I am hoping to start my journey next week. I am so afraid to be rejected. I am thinking of getting my letters beforehand. I had a dr turn me down and i got so depressed. This group really helped. Don't give up.

Not really but thank you for researching that for me
-
No I haven't. I live in Massachusetts. I don't know if they have any around here. I will do research.

I feel so much better hearing your stories. I want to have the sleeve. My pcp is totally for me having surgery. He saw what 274 lbs did to me. I have an appt with a nutritionist may 20 so one of the things my insurance requires will be done. Thank you so much I was so discouraged. I am 9 lbs away from 35 bmi. I started taking beta blockers and has helped me but because it is categorized for my headaches he said it doesn't count. I hope I find a surgeon to help. Im sure by may 20 I will be 216 or higher.

I don't smoke and neither does my father. I come from a family on my dad's side who are obese. I really don't know why he has copd. The surgeries I had was carpal tunnel and I had to have a nerve that was hitting a nerve in my head. I haven't had organ surgery. The surgeries I had make exercising difficult but if I had less weight it would be better.
-
The surgeon I spoke with only does bariatric surgeries. I have to stop admit I am nervous to try again. I wish I could understand his reason. He said I have been through enough surgeries.
-
Thank you so much I am going to get a second opinion. I can't give up.

I was hoping my insurance would pay. If I had to pay for a trip to mexico from the east coast I mind as well pay in country. My sister had bypass and I do billing for bariatric surgeons so I am aware of the complications. I am scheduled for the seminar tomorrow. I hope I have a better idea what i want tomorrow.

I just started thinking about weight loss surgery. I just make the 35 bmi and I need a comorbity to qualify. I have an unusual condition. I got a plate in my head from a surgery that I had in 2009. I can't exercise without terrible pain. I am hoping that if I lose weight. It will help. I think I have high blood pressure but haven been diagnosed yet. I wonder if anyone thinks I will be able to find a surgeon that will help me? I was also wondering why people chose sleeves over bypass? I am looking forward to hearing your responses. I live in Massachusetts if someone knows a surgeon Lisa

I have the bike pedals that sit on the floor but I don't lose weight using them. I can swim also but if I can't get my heartrate up it doesn't help. My weight fluctuate alot but it is due to meds I am prescribed. My neuro said my head would hurt less if I lost weight. I live almost in RI. I haven't heard of mercy or Baystate. Thank you for tips.

Please let me know how you like the surgeon. I live in mass also and I just started doing research. I am thinking of Southcoast in Fall River -
I live in Attleboro. I use to walk everyday and I actually gained weight. I can't run or even let my pressure get high or it feels like my head is going to explode. Thank you for responding.
