Mercedes--honey-you need a fill!! Is there a reason why it has been 3 months without a fill? Usually they are done at 6 weeks, especially when there is no restriction. It is funny that people have posted they feel the food go down through the band--I have never felt that--and have actually paid attention trying to feel it!! LOL

Hey Cindy--I just noticed that you are form Coral Gables , FL---I will be there in 2 weeks the night before we cruise. How is the Holiday Inn on 2051 Legune Road--Downtown?I hope you did not get too much from Wilma--she needs to just go away!!

Thanks Cindy--so you don't think a newly banded person needs to worry about this? I was banded 4 months ago, and have not hit my sweet spot, although I am now getting some restriciton in the morning, but by dinner time--none. I wory about eating too much

big fat swollen vein in hand where IV was

It appears you have a bit of inflammation there at the site. May take days or even a few weeks to get it back to normal. If it is painful, try some warm compresses and you might also give a call to your doctor (PC) or your surgeon just to have your concerns put to rest. Good luck! -
Why does it take a week or 2 before the fill kicks in. I have read this many places and still do not understand why it is this way. Thanks for your help---

I had a fill yesterday--he got 1cc in, for a total of 7, and when the doc was putting it in, I could actually feelsomething going on, like maybe the band tightening up around the stomach. Is this getting restricted or am I just imagining it? Before my fill, I did get stuck a few times, no pb or sliming though just a stuck feeling for a minute or so. Thanks for your help!!

Do I tell the Ex that I had it done?
Victoria 1 replied to Kathy473's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My question is--- WHY would you want to tell her? I haven't told but 2 people but if I were to tell somebody--any ex's would not be on the list!! -

Are you a closet bandster? & Do you regret your decision?

Hon--I totally get you. I understand completely what you are saying and thinking. THEREFORE, after much consideration, I have not told anyone but my husband, and then about 8 weeks into it I told my daughter, only because I would like her to do the same, (she needs to lose nearly 200 lbs.) as I have watched her struggle and spend money after money with WW, gyms, Jenny Craig, ect, ect, and I believe that what she needs IS a tool in which to help her. As I had hoped, knowing I have one did prompt her to get the interest. She was able to see for herself, it is not debilitating or that painful. So once she can convince her husband that she is willing to do this---(he's said he is paying on a gym membership that is not being used) I believe she will do this. Other than those 2--no one knows. Actually, after you can eat regular foods, there is usually something at every resturaunt that you can eat. (except maybe pizza, although you could eat a slice of pizza toppings.) We went last night to mexican with my MIL, I had a bean tostada, just the toppings and side of beans. Both good for protein intake. And because you are talking and not really paying attention to what the others are eating--they are not paying attention to your meal either. You can just move your food around the plate taking a bite every now and then and continue the conversation. I know it seems like a lot of work, but it is possible. Once in a while I use the old--my stomach feels sour tonight, must have been my lunch--and I then can eat a smaler meal without suspicion. Now, everybody knows that I am trying to cut down and lose a few as we are going on a week cruise in November and then staying in Orlando a week after that (oh darn!! I will miss Thanksgiving dinner!!) so no one really questions my food choices or portions. I am like you and do not choose to have people know ALL my business, plus, because the weight loss is much slower than the bypass, I don't need some jerk commenting on how much a waste of $$ this was--it is not working. I have lost 28 lbs. since the end of June and I do not have anybody rushing up to comment on my success, but my husband and I can see it and I can also see it in the clothes I am wearing. I could rattle on and on but I won't and I just wish you great success, I know you can do it and you will do it well. There really is no need to tell anyone, this is a private matter and not public info, so do not feel bad about not telling. It is a TOOL, so all you need to do is tell them you are just trying to lose a few and they should not question that. I have never pb'd or slimed as they say, because you know when you need to quit eating and when you get that feeling--put your fork down and you'll be OK. Good luck kiddo and keep us posted!! -
My 2nd fill, Vanguard band and totally stressed!

You know I am sorry that the doctor had so much anamosity towards the Mexican doctors. They should not be bashing them, instead try to find a way to lower their costs and compete with the mexican docs. The majority of US bandsters go to mexico because the the huge difference in cost. I believe that that particular doctor is highly unethical in the way he bashed your banding doc and he just wants to make a few more bucks by changing your band. I can tell you that if it were me--and I HAD to change my band--he would be the last doc I would consider. His ethics are bad. I have the VG band, with 6cc. in now, hopeing for 2 more this wednesday, and I have read on many posts that the VG band can actually hold more than what they think is in there. Thre are several "bubbles" that need to fill up and it takes 3cc's just to fill the band not makeing any restriction. Plus consider that the tubing itself holds 1cc. This information comes from Don at INamed. Your going to do great!! I know that it is hard, but I would ignore that doc. in fact I might even switch doctors as you don't need that kind of negitivity. Good Luck!! -
I too wish I had smaller band. I am at 6cc with fills and going again this afternoon for what I hope to be the restricting fill. I can eat anything--even steak, with no problems. I am eating less, but not due to the band, due to the fact I am afraid to push it, but even with eating less, it is still waaaaayy to much. I also fear that when I do lose the weight that i need to, my stomach will be smaller and the band will be too large. That will be interesting to find out.

Mexican fill patients & Dr. Malley
Victoria 1 replied to wannabsmall's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For all of those upset with how things went when Doc Malley left, ponder this--1 of his staff went with him right away--and another one is starting later this week. Hmmmm--now what does that say. I also know they were dorty dealing when they did not schedule appointments for Doc Malley instead instantly booked them with the new doc. And this happened 4 days after the seminar was given by Malley. I know the girls that are left with Lopez are RUDE!! I know they are getting newer patients approved before the older ones. My friend has been waiting since May,of course we now know that they were waiting to get her approved AFTER Malley left--now they are so booked up with insurance they can't get it done in a timely manner. Bad business
