Do you have 5 incisions? The largest being on the left side? This is where the pull the stomach out so it is the largest area they go through laproscopically. So when they tie things off (at least for my surgeon) there is one major internal stitch that is in that large left incision. It goes through the wall of the abdomen and for me at least it was a royal pain! I was sooo sore. Some people don't have any pain at all. To each his/her own I guess. However, when the ab wall is healing, the stitch gets weaker and can pull away from the wall some. I have heard of this being when some people felt pain. Then one day it just pops. for me it was just a slight popping sensation, for my friend she said a few cuss words because it popped on a sneeze. Like I said it is really individual. After it pops the world looks so much better. That being said, I am not your doctor and it never hurts to give the PA a call. That is what they are there for. Always better safe than sorry.

It may be that left stitch pulling as it lets go. Mine took 4 weeks before it popped and I thought there were days I was just going to cry. It could be just getting bad as it gets ready to let go. If the stitch has already popped you can always talk to your surgeon or his PA.

I just had to give myself a little pat on the back today. 200 days of logging into MFP in a row. ???? I am so grateful I did this surgery, but the logging on MFP is more about accountability on my part and reminds me that it is up to me to make this a success.

Congratulations.

What’s the ONE thing you wished you knew before getting sleeved ?
MzB replied to Scottyd1264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
1: Pay attention to the limited carbs rule. I don't think this was stressed enough before surgery. I don't mean in the liquid/mushee stages, but after that. 2: Remember this is a marathon, you may feel it is a sprint in the first few months, but it is important to pace yourself and keep your eyes up on the long term prize rather than down on the scale. 3: Hair loss will happen for most. Be prepared and don't panic! 4: Stalls are part of the process. As others have said, embraces them and focus on how you look rather than the numbers. 5: listen to your body. Everyone is different. Turns out it is possible to get too much protein (at least for me). Some people can do 100g/day. Anything over 80 for me and my kidneys get unhappy. -
Back to liquids for most of the day....

I understand the challenge. This time of year is hard! Especially if you throw in a birthday as well. Keep at it! I am rooting for you to make the onederland mark in 2015! -
I did 3.5 hours this week. ????????????

175.5 for this week

Dallas here! 6 months out from surgery and doing great. ????

Way to go! It gets better I promise ????. Just remember that you probably have a small stall coming in the next few weeks. Don't sweat it just remember that your body is adjusting and this is a marathon not a sprint. Your at the beginning of this "race". Pace yourself and keep focused on the goal. You got this!

Hair loss after being sleeved 8/3/15
MzB replied to LuckyStar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have just hit 6 months and I think the loss may finally be getting better (or wishful thinking on my part...not totally sure) ???? I also had fine hair to start with and it was already thinning on top. I got a hair piece (top only not full wig) and that has really helped hid the problem. Most gals just seem to cut it really short. I have probably lost 60% of my hair at this point. ????☹️. I can't wait for it to come back in. Hope your loss gets better soon. ???? -
This is a common side-effect of WLS. Typically it is the worst between months 3-6. Alex just wrote a great article on it.... http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/355266-help-i-don%E2%80%99t-want-to-lose-my-hair/?hl=%2Bhair+%2Bloss#entry4004539

Yep, I second what Inner Surfer Girl said.

Ellie, Congrats on the successful surgery! Also, it sounds like you have a good handle and attitude about recovery. I am sorry to hear about your throat. That must really hurt, but I guess since your just on liquids now it has a real chance to heal. Still would have been nice for the anesthesiologist to get it right given how much one seems to cost. ???? Keep up the great attitude! Remember there is a good likelihood for that 3 week stall. Just know that you have got this and the weight will start really coming off after your body has some time to heal. It's a marathon not a sprint, but you seem to have a great game plan for success. ????????

hair falling out.....HELP!
MzB replied to pattij106's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Biotin will help promote new growth but won't stop it falling out. Many WLS patients do see hair loss, sometime substantial. ???? some times it lasts a few months sometimes longer. No easy way to get it to stop. a lot of women opt for a short hair cut during this time. Good luck.
