No more chewables! Tell me about your vitamins?
MzB replied to une nouvelle vie's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Is anyone else doing the ProCare Health Bariactric capsules? It says once a day is all you need. Does that really work? I would love to go down to my multi just once a day. ???? -
I love hearing the long term achievements like this. Congratulations on all your wins along the way and good luck with your goals yet to come. . Thanks again for sharing your story. Big inspiration to us newbies.

8 weeks out and feel so different, down 4 sizes in jeans
MzB replied to EnglishDan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Awesome! Congratulations. -
I was lucky to find a man who loved me at all my various sizes. I was a size 18 on our wedding day and he thought I looked beautiful. And just so you don't feel those guys aren't out there, I got married at 36. ☺ There is a whole story about having the word "spinster" on my marriage license. But that is probably best for another thread. . One thing I will share is an experience in college that reminded me it isn't just others seeing a thin person and treating them different, although I will say it will happen. You will change too. In college I put on weight by my senior year. ( Size 16). No dates! Nothing but guy "friends". One day I was in a particularly good mood and was more open and even a little flirty. Wow, the attention I got. I noticed guys and they responded. My size hadn't changed, my attitude did! I suspect that when you start to lose weight you will feel more confident and sexy. Guys will be responding to that as well. . Just remember to be open and love will find you. The right guy will love you for what is inside even if he is first attracted to what is outside.

The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY!
MzB replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I admit I was concerned about telling people. And I limited who I told before I did it. That is when I felt I got the most unsolicited advice. I am now 2 months post op and I have decided to just own it. I realized that what others thought wasn't as important as what I thought. I don't tell everyone, the same way if you had a hysterectomy, you wouldn't just use it as a conversation starter. . However, I truly believe that this was MY decision, and what was right for me. Most have beenreally supportive, the ones who aren't, I just ignore. It's not their life. I have also found that people are curious and a number of friends have thought about it and now want to ask thoughtful questions. If I can be a good resource for them as they consider this option, I want to be. -
Thanks for all the wonderful feedback and information. I am so blessed to have found this community. I knew this would be a lifestyle change going in, but I (probably like almost everyone else) am still surprised by how much of one. ???? I am getting in some green veggies and milk products which is where my carbs are coming from now. It is good to hear that this may start to feel more natural over time.

Hi Rebekah I'm from Texas, but we have the same name so your thread caught my attention. I even go by Bekah to close friends. I was sleeved on May 18th and things have been going pretty well for me so far (knock on wood). I had moments where I thought "what the hell am I doing" so I can relate. Just remember that this is something you can do if you set your mind to it. As I am sure you have heard, it isn't always easy, but it is rewarding.

I had PF surgery about 10 years ago. I damaged it playing softball but I am willing to say my weight probably had something to do with it. I am happy to report that while the surgery and recovery were a pain (no walking on it for 6 weeks and then a boot cast for several months) was 100% back to normal within a year. I can now wear any shoe I want and exercise without any problem including running (although I do stay away from softball....). I do still wear my inserts in my running shoes. Hopefully just losing the weight will solve your PF issues. Good Luck!

I am 8 weeks out and taking up to 30+ mins to eat my very small meals is a challenge. I just can't imagine a full 1 or 2 minutes between bites. I think I am usually taking about 15 mins for lunch and 20 for dinner (Breakfast is a shake). I do listen to my stomach and if I get that feeling of being at my limit I do stop. I worry that I am eating too fast, but I don't seem to have any side effects from it. I have never been nauseous, even when I ate too quickly once. If I am sticking to the right ounces and chewing well, what is the down side to eating a bit more quickly? The great fear is stretching the sleeve, but if I am sticking to 2-3 ounces I can't see how that would be an issue.

I am 8 weeks out. My left incision was really painful as as well. My doc prescribed pain patches that helped. Also I bought a binder. That was a big help because that took some of the strain off the cut abdomen muscles. I highly recommend getting one. At 3 weeks my left stitch popped out and I felt much better. Hope you feel better soon.

Just had Gastric Sleeve, looking for a buddy/mentor
MzB replied to TexasGirl86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just thought I would follow up on the numb left leg question. I was sleeved on May 18 and had the exact same thing with my left leg. I too was worried that they had done real damage while they were in there taking my stomach out. It is just a pinched nerve probably from the swelling. Good news is mine got better over a couple of weeks. I would estimate I was five weeks out before I quit noticing it. I did figure out that sleeping on my back made it worse. By the way, I'm from North Dallas as well. Feel free to keep in touch as we both go on this journey. ☺️ -
Dallas! Dr. Nicholson did my sleeve on 5/18. Except for a sore left incision, this has been much easier than I expected. I am on a "regular" diet now. Now I just have to figure out this new way of eating. LOL.

Constipation 4 days out. End of lucky streak.
MzB replied to emtscott54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you getting enough fluids? -
I found something on Pintrest I am going to try that is similar - Frozen strawberries, Greek yogurt and a little honey. However, I may try the frozen bananas as well. Thanks for the tip.

Hey, Kimmie I was also sleeved on 5/18. It is great to find others on my same timeline. My experience has been different from yours as I could handle liquids fairly quickly. I just had a lot of pain from my incisions. I did notice that as long as I am getting at least 80 grams of Protein in a day my energy stays up. It doesn't seem to be the calories as much as it is the protein in my personal opinion because I am still trying to get up to 800 calories a day (and failing most day) but energy is good. When I was on full liquids I stuck with Protein drinks (Premier like most people) and Unjury's chicken flavor (nice change of pace). As I moved to soft foods I have had to work at getting in the protein so I still have at least one Premier shake in the morning. I also have been living on the Dannon Oikios Triple Zeros yogurt (15g protein) for Snacks. These seem to go down easy and taste good to me. I did notice that I have a big drop in energy mid-afternoon if I am not doing a protein rich snack. Keep me posted on how your doing.
