PCP Recommends Byetta Instead
NukeChik replied to Jameskc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
James, Where ya from? We don't have the same PCP do we? He tried that with me, it ultimately didn't work. It is not a recommended usage of Byetta, but I think the drug reps are kinda pushing it for weight loss. Yucky side affects and giving yourself shots twice a day was not very fun for me. Plus its a usage for the drug that has not been studied. -
My PCP, whom I'm now considering ditching BTW, kept telling me that I had insulin resistance. I don't think I do though. I haven't had much of an issue losing my weight. I think he was just trying to put me on another new expensive drug that the drug reps he's in bed with are pushing. The diet does look good though. I find I have a lot of hunger issues if I eat carbs. I try to have Protein based Snacks if I must have one.

I have to say, I have eaten the cheese fries at outback on more than one occassion (not by myself, but still). Never again, especially since my band and fries don't get along, which is a super good thing!

Bitching and Moaning and Stomping my feet...Little bit of a Rant.
NukeChik replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Seriously ReadySteady, You're doing awesome!! I know its impossible, but don't try and compare yourself with others. I know its just a waste of typing energy for me to put that on here. I've been exactly where you are right now!! My doc fussed at me at my 3rd fill, because I was raving about how I had only lost xx pounds. I can say "relax" to you now, because its happened for me, and it will happen for you too. Please try to trust us when we tell ya to be patient, as impossible as that is! -
Bitching and Moaning and Stomping my feet...Little bit of a Rant.
NukeChik replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay, let me "weigh" in on this subject. I'm six feet tall. I carry my weight because of my height. So that means that when I'm really heavy, I don't look as heavy as others. It works both ways though, I've lost 40 pounds and hardly anyone has noticed, or if they have noticed, they haven't commented. Yes, I have long, graceful arms, but they only allow more room for my burgeoning "bat wings". Now I have to say, I'm likin my legs, but I have a huge fugly varicose vein that runs all the way from my upper thigh to my calf. Now, I'm not saying that I don't like being tall, but I just don't want you to think its all rainbows and lollipops up here either.:smile2: -
I've got pretty good restriction now and I don't have a problem with popcorn. Never been an issue and I don't remember my doc ever saying not to have it.

Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge

WAY TO GO MOLLY MOLLY I dream of ONEDERLAND!! -
At first I said yes, and then when I figured out that I couldn't get it registered, I changed it. My justification was that the types of surgeries that were given in the examples were cases where malabsorption issues occur. I figured it didn't apply to me. I talked to Gay Riley, the nutrition gal and she confirmed that I didn't need to check it for lap-band surgery. Use your judgement though.

I usually burn anywhere from 450-600 calories in my sleep, depending on the amount of tossing and turning I do.

What are you doing with all your clothes?
NukeChik replied to NotABuckOFive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sold a bunch of my nice dressy clothes on ebay. I'm also going to try my hand at altering some of my work slacks. I'm not zooming through the sizes in my shirts, only my pants. -

Renewed, You said you ran the 5k in 37 minutes and burned 416 calories, thats over 10 cals/ min. Thats pretty rockin' in my book!! I have to admit, I have not worked out since I got my bugg, I've done a lot of moving around and extra steps, but I haven't done a full blown workout:blushing:. I have been working 6 days a week 12 hours a day, I know excuses, excuses. When I get off this schedule I'll get back to the treadmill and the bosu ball, but until then, I always take the steps, I park farther away, etc... The most I've ever seen my calories up to is about 9/min while I was walking up my driveway (incredibly steep and long!).
-
Well, I do consider you svelte:thumbup: I love that word!! Anywho, you can actually go on the website and narrow down the times. If you look at the calories burned graph, grab the edges of the gray bar at the top of the graph. You can "zoom" in on the time you were running and it will show you how many calories you burned at the bottom of the page. You can do a lot of cool stuff with the bugg! I have mine set to go off at 1100 to tell me to take my vitamin.
-
Renewed WTG!!!! Just curious, how many calories did your bodybugg register during the 5k?? You have an excellent burn rate to be so little.
-
Yeah, I remember seeing that somewhere, that was an awesome find!! I don't have that kind of luck
-
I haven't done this in a while, so I'm gonna start again... Yesterday B-Brownie:eek: L- 3 bites chicken from a Weight Watchers Meal D- Bowl of Boo Berry Crunch cereal and a serving of Kashi Country Cheddar crackers (my addiction) BTW, luluc, I love reading your daily menus, you always eat the coolest stuff, I aspire to eat like you!

Good Luck on your 5k, I'm so impressed! I aspire to run a 5k! I was also scared about getting one of ebay. I got mine from 24 hour fitness. It was 349 for the bugg and the digital display. Ebay prices weren't much cheaper. It set my calories for 2400 a day. My scheduled deficit for a 2/week weightloss is 1000 calories a day, so I adjusted mine to 2200 calories burned and 1200 consumed. Have you scheduled your "coaching" call yet? They teach you a lot about the ways to do things with the site. If you want to PM me any "specific" questions I'll try to answer them for ya. Have I mentioned how much I loooovvvee my bugg:tt1::thumbup: I got on the scale this morning and am down another 3 pounds to 233. I've had the bugg for a little over 2 weeks and have lost 9 pounds! I think thats actually a combination of things (no more TOM, another fill), but I don't care, Its AWESOME!

Awesome NSV's 40. I vented a little last night to my man because no one that I work with has commented on my weight loss... Well, finally today, one of the guys I work with said, WOW, look at you, what's going on?! Now, I feel a little better. While I was venting to my man last night his comment was, "Well, they don't get to see you naked:thumbup:"! He He He... I'm just so tall that 40 pounds doesn't show much, which was a blessing when I was heavier, I guess...

I haven't seen anything about kidney stones, but I have read that calcium citrate is recommended for bandsters.

what else can I have on clear liquid diet
NukeChik replied to slimm2be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
slim, Don't get discouraged! You might not be able to eat "anything you like" right now, but that will change. This is an important time for you to stick to your doctors orders, let everything heal up. I know its hard right now, but it won't last long. Don't be discouraged if you put some weight back on when you start mushies (some do, some don't). Try not to look at your weight loss as "I only lost a pound this week", try and look at your average! -

NukeChik replied to slimm2be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found wonton soup absolutely delightful! Just eat the broth, not the wontons. -
Godshelp, You actually have to burn off 3500 calories to equal 1 pound. So that means that "theoretically" JDUB with a 2000 calorie/day deficit will lose 2 pounds every 4 days or so.

I just found your thread today... Sending good vibes your way!! Keep us posted, you're in my thoughts
