    Sleeping After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I'm 5 days post-op and haven't had any issues climbing in or out of bed. However, I'd desperately love to sleep on my stomach, but that's not happening right now. So I'm suffering sleeping on my side for the time being.
  2. The first major change I made was deciding to get over my fears and have LASIK! That was one of the things I've always wanted to do but was too afraid.

    Surgery is Tuesday! OMG!

I'm finally home. Surgery was Tuesday morning. Everything went well. No pain, no nausea, no complaints. Hoping my recovery continues to be uneventful.

    Surgery is Tuesday! OMG!

I'm scheduled to be at the surgical center at 6:30 tomorrow. I'm not sure what time surgery will actually be...assuming 8-9:00?? I'm in the Middle East so my time is 7 hrs ahead of eastern time zone. I should be done while most of you are still sleeping. I'm trying to get my last few ducks in their respective places. Lol. Bottled Water should be delivered later this afternoon. I already have lots of unflavored Protein (picked that up from the pharmacy last week). I have crystal light and a bunch of SF Jello boxes. I still have to pick up a few things at the commissary, mostly stuff for my kids while I'm in the hospital. Hopefully I don't forget anything for myself. Shopping outside the U.S. is challenging enough....no SF Popsicles here. I'll just have to be creative. Looks like it's gonna be Dixie cups and crystal light. ????

    weight loss

It has taken me a year to get through my hospital's program. This has nothing to do with insurance requirements. There's just a long wait list for everything. But I've taken the year to continuing to educate myself about what I'm getting into. I started an exercise routine and I've been faithful for 8 months. I know, when you decide you want WLS, you want it yesterday. But I swear the time will pass quickly. My surgeon said he wanted a 10% reduction of excess weight. I wasn't even half way there when I got my surgery date, but after 2 weeks on pre-op liquid that has really jump started things. I just might reach it by surgery day (Tuesday).

    Ricotta Bake! ?

I think the recipe says to blend after baking if you're still in the purée/mushy stage. I just looked at it earlier.

    Any April Sleevers?

Scheduled for Tuesday. Still on pre-op liquids and continuing to go to the gym. I'm trying to get everything done and in order...feels like I'm nesting. Only baby I'm getting this time is a baby tummy. ????

    Exercise equipment

I've never used a tread climber. I prefer an elliptical to the treadmill. I find it easier on my knees and for me, I get a better workout.

I think I hate my surgical group...

I don't have any problems with my surgeon or the health educators & nurses that run the bariatric program. They seem to be very much on top of it and knowledgable. At least 2 of them have had VSG. The NUT on the other hand, I have no confidence in her! My first appointment with her I told her I shouldn't eat white bread because it has sugar in it. (I'm diabetic) She argued with me that it's a starch and had flour but no sugar. I kept telling her yes, bread has sugar in it. Just look at the nutrition label. It's right there at the top of the ingredients. She finally stopped trying to convince me I was wrong but I could see the look on her face. She thought I was crazy. She wasn't trying to tell me I should be eating it, but I'm thinking what kind of a nutritionist doesn't know something so basic?? With all that said, luckily the pre/post op diet and nutrition is totally handled through the nurse educators, not the NUT.

    Blender suggestions?

I have a Nutri Ninja blender. Super easy to clean!! One cup, one blade, that's it. ????????

    Not getting much in

@@alwaysvegas Thanks for posting the link! I met with the health educator this morning to go over the pre/post op dietary plan. It was SO complicated!! And honestly not something I would follow. I hate tomato juice and pre op I avoid fruit juice because I'm diabetic. I think I'll stick with the protein shakes.

    Clothing size

I've been every size under the sun...depending on which diet I happened to following at a particular time. I'm so ready to get past that!!

    Pre Op Diet Loose Stools

Not for me. I have to add benefiber to my protein shakes. That's working so far to keep things "normal".

    Liquid diet suggestions

I still have one week of preop liquids left before surgery. I've been using Amplified Gold whey isolate from GNC in vanilla ice cream flavor. I've been getting a little creative with it and not finding it so bad. Like someone mentioned above, I don't want to spend a lot of money now, because I have no idea what I'll be able to tolerate later. If I feel like chocolate instead of vanilla, then I just add a tbsp of coco powder in my blender. It's only 15cal and pretty cheap compared to buying a whole jar of chocolate protein powder. Using sugar free pudding powder can also add some new flavor to an otherwise bland meal. Every morning I make a frapiccino. Same protein powder but a scoop of instant decaf coffee, some stevia, and a tbsp or 2 of cool whip! This is how I'm managing preop liquid.
  16. I'll be on a long haul flight back to the U.S. about 2 months after surgery. I'm looking forward to being able to put my tray down, not bump into everyone in the aisle in my way to the restroom. And holy cow, the bathrooms!! I can't wait to not have to squeeze myself through the door.
  17. @@momfromjersey22 Are you having a lot of broth that's high in sodium? That can make your body retain Fluid.
  18. I love the Lane Bryant yoga pants!! I bought 5 pair when I was home for Christmas. 3 Capri length and 2 long. They were having a 50% off sale, which made it even better. I wear them to the gym, they're kinda like compression pants. I have no problems with sweat or chaffing...you all know what I'm talking about. I'm sure I'll be wearing them on my flight home in June too, only they should be a bit looser this trip.

    Any April Sleevers?

I'm doing preop liquid too. I'm not very hungry, but cooking for my family is REALLY hard. Dinner time is tough. I'm fine at lunch, but I can't even sit at the table for dinner. It's just too much. Everything smells so good.

    Hungry hell lol

I'm on day 5. It's not been too bad. I'm honestly not hungry. I won't lie though, smelling food has been really hard. I have a family and I'm still cooking meals for them. That part had been tough. I'm having the typical liquid staples. Protein shakes, broth, strained soup, water, crystal light, etc... I started preparing a pitcher of water a day with fruit pieces. Lemon and lime one day and orange and ginger another. I like the little added flavor to my water.

    toning/firming

@@alwaysvegas How was your recovery? I've been doing cardio and weight training since September and praying it will help in my recovery. I'm still a little over a week away from surgery.

    Any April Sleevers?

I'm on the 21st too. Preop liquids stink for sure, but I'm enjoying seeing the scales going in the right direction ????.
  23. That's great to hear. I'm less than 2 weeks from surgery.
  24. I know what you mean. The only picture of me at my absolute worst is on my passport!! I'm down 55lbs from that time....surgery in a little over a week.
  25. I mix benefiber in my protein shakes. I'm on my 2 week preop full liquid diet. It's keeping everything moving fine so far.
