  4. Hi Mc in Md,

I saw your stats and we are similiar in weight, height and age. I have my surgery Dec. 14 and I am 189 today @ 5' 1 1/2". I am 38 years old. I was wondering how long did it take you to reach goal? I am so excited to have it done. Do you have any advice to offer on what worked for you and what was the hardest to do? I plan on working out with weights 3 days/week and treadmill 3-4 days a week. Also, do you have any extra skin? I will prob need a tummy tuck because I have had 2 c-sections. Thanks for sharing your info.

  5. My least favorite is my boobs. They lost tissue and went south. My favorite part is my stomach.

Why did you get the band?

I got the band to live a longer, healthier life, and to look and feel better in my clothes!
  7. I didnt find it hard at all, once I had proper restriction.

BMI of 31, is that too low?

I had a BMI of 29 and the wonderful Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexico did mine, for much cheaper than it would of cost here. I was self-pay.
  11. Thanks everyone for your wonderful supportive replies! This board will help me stick to this liquid phase... wanna hear something I'm not so proud to share? I got so utterly fed up today I went to get a piece of string cheese... I was going to chew the first bite like 50 times before swallowing a piece... well when I unwrapped it, it fell to the ground and picked up all kinds of cat hair and dust...lol... so to me, that was my message to STAY AWAY from solids! I threw it out and stuck to the liquids! Thanks again for all your support... I hope to be supportive to everyone else on this board as well. Hugs, Michele
  12. Hi everyone. I was banded on Thursday (4 days ago) and I'm feeling great; just some soreness around the port site. I have a few questions. 1) How long did the port site soreness last? 2) How long did your doctor prescribe a full liquid diet? How long for mushies? Did you ever cheat? I would kill at this point for some mashed potatos or creamy Soup. I've been drinking Protein shakes (OK'ed by my doc at this stage for me), broth, and Jello. YUM. NOT! I'm getting tired of it and it's only the 4th day. How did you all get through it without killing someone? 3) I can gulp Water with no problem. I feel no restriction. Shouldn't I feel at least *some* restriction since the band was placed?

    Surgeons and Prices

Thank you Girls! I am looking forward to this life-changing experience.
  14. I'm very interested in this procedure. What surgeon did you use and how much did the procedure cost? Who do you go to for fills? Are they painful? Has anyone had the gastric bypass years ago and regained the weight, and now have the band? Has it been successful? Thank you all! MC in Baltimore
